Try take that big ugly wing off your little Vet and maybe it'll go faster...... also try running your traction control lower than 10, it might help ;) ha haha

2:07?!?!?

Im averaging 2:47 in a GTR - that has 623 PP.
Not one of the official cars - cant seem to find those!!

Either way - had some practice earlier, but the GT network is down...

Hi Moolz - Only the cars on the OP are allowed.

I suggest buying the ZR1 Crovette and Race Mod it.

Important announcemnet:

This sunday we will be racing with penalties turned off.

I know this means I will have to spend ages watching the replays but I believe the penalties at Spa are too strict and that they break up potentially close battles on track. At ou Rouge you can get a penalty when you clearly have 2 wheels on the kerb!

When I watch the replays I am not going to be super strict. I should able to tell the difference between someone who is deliberately trying to cheat and a genuine racing error.

I will be watching that chicane at the end of the back straight carefully. So if you do cut that corner, better make sure you give any positions back and that your lap time on the lap in question is not suspect...

Scale is in a different league around Spa...

He was doing 2:08's last night. My best was 2:11...

Had fun with will though. we were very evenly matched in our ZR1's.

Anybody up for a test session tomorrow night at say 20h00 gmt. (10pm SA time)?

Moolz - I will try and send you a ZR1 tomorrow.

Hey Homes....... I know it's your decision, but I don't think it's possible to marshal the whole race and people will cheat! I'm not happy with the decision and would rather run with penalties on please, it's the same for everyone and the guys should just take it easier to avoid the penalties. If you can't go thru ou Rouge without getting a penalty then slow down!
Oh..... I'm running 2:08,2 as well ;) lol

I don't seriously mind about dropping penalties, if Homes is willing to spend time reviewing it, then cool with me.

I will join you Saturday for testing homes, I may even be on tonight as well, I need to get hooked up with a decent time.....man...2:08....that just seems too far for me.

I agree with Driver, the penalties should be on... It makes the racing fair and gives the guys who actually try to drive on the track properly a chance...

I agree that the penalties are strict on this track but its how it is and we have to adapt to it just like real life drivers have to adapt to race conditions at different tracks.

I like the way you think Ally and I agree whole heartedly :) its the only fair way to do it. Penalties ON!!!!!! :)

:sly:Oh and I am doing 2.08 aswell. Dropped down to a 2.07.3 last night but that was offline...

Ah thank you:tup:👍

I think consistency will win this race, i.e. the person who gets the least penalties and drives the most cautiously yet fast enough to cross the line first...

I do understand what you are saying canu, and I agree with the logic at the
other tracks but I think the races are ruined at Spa by the penalties (they are nothing like real life) and as I say, I am prepared to watch the replays and punish as necessary (I have time next week).

BTW - PENALTIES WILL BE ON DURING QUALI

Also, remember that anyone can save the replay and report any incidents to make 100% sure I get them all reviewed.

There are 4 parts of the track where cheating is possible and I will watch every singles drivers lap at each of the following: (or ask willing assistants to help me do so).

1 - Ou Rouge: You will be docked points if you put all 4 wheels off the track consistently or you then overtake anyone (without giving the place back) on the straight after ou rouge. Also if you re-gain someones slipstream that you have lost by doing so, will lead to a points penalty.

2 - The chicane at the end of the back straight: If you cut it and gain any advantage over those around you on the track, you will be docked points depending on the advantage you gained.

3 - The left kink on run up to the final chicane: There should be no excuses for this one. If you run wide there, expect to be docked points!

4 - The final chicane: I will be harsher with this one. At least 2 wheels on the track at BOTH apexes and the exit onto the straight at all times.

Also, if you do cut any corners and then slow down to compensate I will still check your lap time. If it is even slightly suspicious, you will get a points penalty.

What I am trying to achieve here is, to keep the racing close; so where someone still has 2 wheels on the track and gets a penalty that ruins a close dice, it will not be ruined this way.

If anyone else can help me to review the races, it would help loads so please don't be shy to help.

For those worried about cheaters - don't be. I will penalise where any advantage has been gained and cheaters will not be entitled to PP ballast bonus.

Attention all

on the 24th of February 2012 at precisely 18:20 my old (5ys old) ps3 suffered a "component failure" as Sony (its F:censored:) put it and so now will be buried at the bottom of the garden with a funeral precession and then sent of to Sony with a cheque for 110 pounds so I can get a 120gb slim so hopefully i be back on in 2weeks

Not gonna make it today guys. Daytona 500 today over here in the states. I'm not the biggest nascar fan but I never miss this race. I also never miss any Formula 1 races so we'll see how that works out as this season wears on.

How long from now is the race? Once again I forget the time change!

Also, the 500 is today... I may have to drop out again because I want to watch it.

My 1st race tonight!
That was fantastic!!!
Ive only had GT5 for a week now - so im way off the pace!
Need to spend some time in getting up to a competitive level!
Also - setup is uber important!!

Looking forward to the next meet!

I have been messing around a bit on GT5 since the 500 is cancelled, and just did a quick little set up for my car. Now obviously it will change before next week. At my faster lap I ran a 1:26:144 but on average I have a 1:27:5XX car. Once you all get practicing I'd like to know your laps.

Obviously though, I'm not going to be very competitive. I don't really know what I'm Doug when setting up a car and even still, I've got nothing on everyone.

Ally you seriously have to do something about the lag. You put me in the wall on lap one because of lag. I know it wasn't on purpose. Or at least I hope it wasn't. Call Sony about the lag issue, they might be able to help. I've known several people with lag/disconnect problems and they called and someone helped them figure it out. It wouldn't hurt to try at least.

Couple comments about back markers and other issues that arose:

Twice during the race someone tried to pass me on the outside coming onto the straight after Ou Rouge. We both ended up in that strip of grass on the left. I was not a lapped car at this point but it was still awkward. They came out of the pits, I was on hard tires so my pace was off but I'm not sure why you wouldn't just slipstream down that straight and pass going into the next corner. You guys will not have problems with me as a backmarker but some patience on the lead lap/faster cars is required as well. A lot of times a backmarker is caught up in what they are doing and don't realize that the leaders are trying to get through. They, of course, need to pay attention more as well.

Formation lap: Is there a reason why we have to be so bunched up? I mean, we're bumper to bumper. I know damage isn't on but it just seems really claustrophobic and unnecessary. Why can't we have a few car lengths between us and then bunch up in the last few corners. Also maybe set a formation lap top speed before the race. I know it says something in the op but some people are going 70 mph and some are going 120mph.

Great race for the Vipers (again?) and obviously my one stop strategy didn't pan out. Thanks for joining us Moolz. Hope you had a good time and more to come.

Good morning guys :)

Thanks to all for an interesting and very fun race, but congratulations to Scale for pulling out another double. I had good pace last night and I honestly thought I had his number, but he drove superbly to win! He just managed to get thru the field so quickly at the beginning of the feature race, and by the time I got thru and into position behind him, he was already 10 seconds ahead :(
I spent the race trying to catch him and eventually closed the gap to 5 sec at half way, but the I had a few run ins with the back marker whom I was lapping and I lost all the time I had made up. Then I made a bunch of stupid mistakes and spun out a few times and even managed to get stuck up against the wall at the pit entry ha haha. But it was a great race never the less!
My apologies to Bubble and Moolz, I was hell bent on catching Scale and couldn't afford to lose any time, I didn't mean to take you guys out, I just came up behind you do quickly in really quick corners and had nowhere to go. I was also suprised your cars didn't go see thru as per normal. So sorry if I ruined your race, it was completely unintentional ;)
Well done on your first race Moolz, a little practice and you'll be their in no time bud :)

@Sassafrass, Yeah, I dont know where this lag is coming from all of a sudden. Never really had a problem before. Got a decent line with some good ping speeds so it baffels my mind. Will try to get it sorted before the next race. My humblest apologises to everyone of I ruined your race.

Man I had a crappy race last night, I just couldnt hook my Supra up at all. Was quick for two laps bit as the tyres wore, it became hellishly uncontrollable. Anyway, good race Scale and Canu, u guys wins at Gt5.

Well done to all, nice race although boring for me...all on my own.....lol.

The formation lap was an abortion. I was down in mid pack for the first one and 3rd last for the second race, the bunching up with a start stop effect was not cool. The formation lap is supposed to be run at a consistent pace with everyone in single file. The bumping and swerving must stop. The pole sitting gets a major advantage if the guys aren't smooth behind.

And don't worry about the see through back-markers, it will be fine from now on because we will run with penalties on.

We also need to keep the racing real. I can visibly see when behind some close dicing that desperate moves for the front are "out the norm" and would not be considered legal in real life racing.

Lets keep it fun and real guys..... that's what makes it cool.

Well done Moolz for your first event online, hope you had a blast. Lets get some practicing going. Get you quicker bud.

Well done Scale and Canu....you guys were on a different planet.
