I crack up as to how all I was originally wondering was if the SCC game was ready to go online racing right out of the box or if I had to go through those ridiculous hoops or not, and this hole thread has morphed into a discussion about the willingness of the cars to react to the adjustments that are made to them or not. And the whole comparison thing between SHIFT and SCC can really get out of hand LOL…. Don’t get me wrong I totally appreciate all of your insightfulness as to the comparison of the cars from one game to the next, and I’m sure that I will make the cars work for me, no matter how stubborn they are. They will be my slaves, and respond to my will, as long as there are suspension, weight, tire, and airo adjustments. But for me I won’t ever get into the little tweeks and try to broadcast to everyone in the league how wonderful my adjustments are because let’s get real, there just games. LOL…..

I was trying to tell Little Lefty the other day that he will never understand where the video game thing came from and truly appreciate what unbelievable works of genius we are playing with. Even junky video games from just 5 years ago let alone 10 yrs ago were crazy cool back then. Heck I remember those junky controllers that Atari gave us to try to use, what maybe 30 yrs ago and they would only last about 10 min. until I had to tear it apart to fix it so that I could play for 8 min until I had to fix it again and so on. LOL … I’m sure the SCC game will be wonderful in whatever form it was designed to take and I will adjust, just like I will adjust when the dream game “ GT5” comes out .

Well then, simple answer to a simple question:

1 - You can play online with whatever car you want (and in whatever track you pick) "right out of the box"

2 - However, you will only be able to setup the cars you own. That means that if you go to a lobby that is racing a car you don't "own", you'll race with a "game car" with one of the default liveries and with the default setup.

For offline play, and the ability to setup cars, you must unlock and buy them, through offline races online (I thought a couple of times that this game should give you credits also from online races, as GT5P).

However, online, you're able to drive any car, wether you already own it/unlock it or not. The same goes for the tracks. Some (minor variations as Silverstone national/south, ovals, Mugello sports) are locked but playable online out-of-the-box.

Yes, the cars have different characteristics of course they do, they all have different performance and certain other differences but what i'm saying is that at the heart of the handling model there is something which exists in all of the cars you drive in that game, maybe it's just the exagerrated grip, i don't know, either way they all handle unrealistically, there isn't a hint of authentic handling in that game.

I wouldn't mind if the driving experience was really enjoyable, but for me, it leaves me feeling like i haven't had much influence at all in the way the cars handle, so i don't find it an enjoyable experience (especially with a wheel), but that's just my opinion - although I know a lot of others feel the same way about it

I am clarified now:) Fair enought:tup:

I agree with both Paulzx & arvore: the cars in Shift look & sound great & very distinct, & also handle in distinct ways. I find Shift pretty convincing at "regular-driving speeds", however, once you push the cars to the limit they all exhibit the same very unrealistic arcade-level of grip.

I just thought I would add that the one thing that Shift does do, that neither SCC nor GT5P do, is model the feel of wheel lock-up under braking.

Totaly subscribe your opinion fast "GrandMa" :p
