As I am sure many of you are aware of, the growing interest of the 4wd japanese and US cars for drag racing has been on the rise over the past few years. Until recently the top cars have always been from and in Japan. It all changed over this weekend in Australia. For the FIRST time they do not own the title of the quickest 4wd car on street tyres. At a huge sanactioned event in Australia, the 4's and rotory Jamberee a New Zealand owned, built, and driven 1994 R32 GTR re-wrote the record books.

The Croydon Wholesalers car ripped up the strip in a mind blowing 8.55 @ 165mph. They backed it up with a nearly identical run of 8.56 @ 165mph to make it official. The other cars it beat reads like a list of who is who in the world of Japanese Tuning houses.

4WD DRAG RECORD (ON STREET TYRES)

1. Croydon Wholesalers.........New Zealand..........R32GTR - 8.55
2. Veilside ..............................Japan................R32GTR - 8.612
3. Waste Sports.....................Japan.................R33GTR - 8.916
4. Garage Decide...................Japan.................R32GTR - 8.933
5. Signal Auto........................Japan.................R34GTR - 8.999
6. Endless..............................Japan.................R33GTR - 9.025
7. Garage SPL........................Japan.................R33GTR - 9.104
8. Red Zone...........................Japan.................R32GTR - 9.122
9. M's Factory.........................Japan................R32GTR - 9.140

You can view the Croydon Car HERE

Thats quick stuff. I gotta mpeg of a R32 GTr doing it in 8.96secs and reaching 159mph. Unbelievable stuff

where's the Heat Traetments GTR?!!?:odd:
Best ET: 8.63 as far as I know?
Go NZ...

Is that the Exvitermini.com Skyline called GTR700? (not the R32 in the pic, the 8.55 car)

Reece did not go to the Jamboree due to he is working on the car for the up and coming season here in NZ. it should be very close if not into the 7's when they are done. Can't wait to see it.

Whe is it going to be ready, later this year for the summer?

I don't honestly know. I have spoken to Reece in a couple of months but I do know what his goal is and from what I have heard through the grapevine don't be suprised to hear that he has broken into the 7's. That car will be absolutely leathal and the budget is, well what ever it takes.

Damn, I just hope he does it on street tires that the Japanese will let in. According to Mario over at SDU, Glenns time wont be accepted by the Japanese because it wasn't done on Nitto 555R's or something.

But the fact remains the same, it was done on a street legal tires and nothing can stop that.

hence my replies. You will always get those that THINK they know but at the end of the day facts are hard to dispute.

Reece runs full drag slicks and does so because of he wants to achive.

Yeah, but Mario is a bit of a cocky know-all.

What I find funny is that he's got all the goodies and is still getting beaten.

There is more to that then you know. Mario and his crew have disrespected a great many people. I've gotten some pretty interesting feed back over the past year. I've never talked to him personally but he gets very arrogant at times.

Hmm, really?

I've been waiting for someone to come straight out of the blue and completely shut him down when he goes off on a rampant 'I know everything' tiz.

What I find funny is that in his FAQ where it mentions Flywheel HP, he says he couldn't give a **** about guestimated flywheel power figures and drivetrain loses blah blah blah, but when someone comes along shouting their mouth off about how crappy GTR's are or whatever, he is always quick to bring up the 'Give me any engine whose block can handle 500HP/cylinder' line. How does he know if he's getting 500hp/cylinder if he hates guestimated flywheel power figures and drivetrain loses?

Even just reading some of his posts show me that he is a complete wanker, I'd hate to think how bad he is in real life.

 Skyline GT- R

1st Croydon Wholesalers NZ Nissan Skyline R32 GTR 8.555 165.99 mph GReddy T88-34D and NOS
2nd VeilSide Japan Nissan Skyline R32 GTR 8.612 172.50 mph VeilSide GT3540 (x2)

So Croydon was using nitrous oxide. Still a wins a win.. and congrat to Croydon

The record on slicks is the HKS Skyline

6-cyl HKS Japan Nissan Skyline R33 GTR 7.671 181.98 mph HKS GT3540R (x2)

forgive my lack of knowledge, but do these cars use nitrous? do they have any kind of special fuel? and why the 'growing interest in 4wd' ? surely the interest should always have been there? or does the clutch get fried when u burn it off the line in a 4wd?

i want to know why the four wheel drive is slower than rear wheel drive ?

The drive line is the weakest point remember. There has never been the research and development into transfer cases, front and rear matching diffs, axles and such for these cars that has been on the 2wd cars.

Breakages are the main factor on launches. Then factor in the weight disadvantages of a 4wd system vs a 2wd system.
