Yep I did not think about that. Do you want to join the series? There are plenty of spots left. What cars are you going to race? Please read through the qualifications for cars in the first post.

Hey racers, tonight is race #2 at madrid! We need some excitement on this thread! I wanna chew up some tires!

Sign ups still open! Who wants to race!

Superbike maybe change the title to say "sign ups open" or something. Generate some interest!

As I watched everyone slowly pull away at the start of the race I knew I needed a different car so for my second pick I will use the Corvette Z06 (c6) 06...Bob

Good move. That was my original #1 choice. Wish I would have kept it. I have to drive the doors off my Camaro just to keep up with DREX

It was a great race.

Bob. The heavier lexus was no match for the coupe's but you did run a good pace. The vette will serve you better. Good choice.

Skeletor. You did definitely drive the doors off that camaro. I really figured the rx-7 was gonna be the only one able to turn on this tough track. We were tight and clean for those first 10 laps. Awesome! Even tho the pit didnt work you made up 3 seconds almost on that final lap.

Superbike. All i remember i was gettin ready to pit on lap 11 after battling as hard as i could with skeletor, look at the map and your right behind us! Everyone stayed pace very well. No huge mistakes!

A few more people and we'll be rolling. We gotta stick with it. Keep the tread alive. Great race!

I agree Drex! I just finished posting some threads asking for more racers. Hopefull we will get a couple. Since these people would be coming in 2 races behind, I was thinking of spotting them all the same amount of points like 30 or something, or option two is to start all over which I do not want to do. What do you guys think?

That race was fun I was surprised i started catching up to you guys around lap 11. I think you guys were slowing each other down which opened up the door for me to catch up. Once I changed tires out though it felt like the tires never got the same amount of grip as the first set. I was constantly having understeer issues. :grumpy:

Bob, I think your second car is a good choice. That is why I allowed 2 cars in the series. Some cars just cannot perform well on tight tracks like the ISF.

One more thing I do appreciate you three sticking with the series, and I appreciate you guys being clean on the track and mindful with your language, thank you:)

Since the season is 10 races long. I think it would be easier to only count the top 8 races for each driver. That way if any of us have to miss a race due to 'real life circumstances', or just had a bad night or 2 will still have a shot at a good finish for the season.

EDIT:
If we start over, I'm going back to the '06 Z06!! Drex would have none chance against me in that thing!

I agree we could drop our worst 2 races. Also maybe have a rule where you cant drive the same car more than 2 times in a row to makes people plan out their season. Spice it up. I will ask my fellow clean friends if they wanna join.

i would like to enter:
Maserati S '08-purp
Nissan Z34 '08-red

hope there's still a spot left!

*both of my cars have rear spoilers, they are low profile, minimum downforce rating @ 5

I'd love to join this but unfortunately the time difference makes it a bit difficult :(

Best of luck with it tho' 👍 Sounds like a great series.

Cheers,
Bill/Geeza

What are the tires used in this series? I must be blind but I never saw the info on that. If it was previously posted sorry for my ignorance.

There are no tire restrictions so choose your poison

I'm going to join this, I'll have a black 2010 Jaguar XKR Coupe at the back of the pack. Haven't chosen a second car yet. I have a room open right now online just testing stuff out if anyone is interested.

Welcome aboard shaggy & dev.

Looks like we'll have a good showing tonight. Looking forward to it.

Yeah Im looking forward to it. I hope, Shaggy and Dev, that you guys stick with the series after the first race unlike some others we have had in the series.

What I was thinking is starting the points over for the 8 races left, but the previous points earned will be used as well. Those points only come into play if the 4 drivers that raced in those races are incontenion with each other. Meaning if Skeletor and Drex are 1st and 2nd after the 8 races still then the previous points will be added to determine who is 1st and who is 2nd. If Skeletor is in 1st, Dev is 2nd, and Drex is 3rd then the points earned in previous races do not apply. Does that make sense and seem fair?

What's wrong with only counting the top 8 out of 10 races for each driver? And dropping the worst 2?

Overall, I guess it doesn't matter to me. I'm not here for the money. I'm here to kick butt.

Since each race is only half hour; Why not do (2) races in one night? 15 mins qualify + 30 mins race = 45 minutes per race + 2 races = 1.5 hours. 10 weeks is a long season. 2 races a night would cut that in half. Otherwise this will go until last week in April. I guess I speak for myself being on the West Coast, so this wouldn't cut into my bedtime & lose beauty sleep.

I see what you are saying, but the two new comers have not raced the previous 2 races. They only have the next eight races for points whereas we would be able to use the previous races for our top eight which is a disadvantage to them unless you mean to restart the series and then count the top eight. Since we only have two new people though I think it would be simpler to do what I posted earlier. If we had like six new people then restarting would be better.

Hey guise i need a room number!!!!

I was thinking last night about our race and thought there may be a way to enhance our experience. The new tire profile has made selection much more critical and we may be able to add a bigger strategic element by setting the race length such that the racer needs to either take some risk and push the limit of Medium Tires or take an extra pit stop and use Soft Tires. Last night I used Medium Tires and made 1 pit stop. I could have done a 16 lap race using the same strategy but it would have been rather frightening on the last lap of each stint. I might have opted for the extra pit stop and run only Soft Tires and probably would have used Soft Tires for 17 lap race. I would be interested in other opinions.

Not knowing the length of the race untill 5-10 minutes prior to race start can also lead to last minute tire gamble. After finding out we were only doing 14 laps, I almost made the decision to run hard tires and attempt to go the entire distance.

I ran a few laps on hards and found I was about 2-3 seconds/lap slower then mediums. Which led me back to the mediums where I knew it would be a 1 stop race. I was thinking I might be able to go 10 laps on medium tires, then switch to soft tires for the last 4 laps. Car got very sketchy on lap 8, and didn't want to blow another huge lead on bad stradegy, so I played it safe.

On tracks that have a short pit road and is easy to get in and out quickly, a softer compound could be more benificial. BOB, if you're proposing longer races, I wouldn't be against that. But 30 minute race seems to work out fine. tire & pit stradegy varies on the track.

BOB, I have a pretty sweet setup for my '06 Z06. I can put it on shared if want to check it out.

I would welcome the Z06 setup. Being rather new to the car I am spending a lot of time getting a good setup. I am not sure what "putting it on share" means but I will soon learn. I am not suggesting that we go much beyond the 30 minute window but if we had run a 16 or 17 lap race (6 extra minutes) your tire strategy would have been a little more challenging and a 2 stop soft tire strategy would become a more viable option.

putting it on share means that if you look at his profile on gt5, he will have a list of drivers and cars you can "borrow". good racing gents, Skeletor, you are ****in fast man! i started out on meds and ya'll just kept pulling away. by the end of lap 3 i pit in and switched to softs...

my best lap was a 2.01.820!

Shaggy is right. BOB, you'll have to add me on your psn. Then you will be able to view the cars I have shared, and borrow it. Once you borrow it, you can go to your garage and view the settings. You can take her for a test drive if you want. I don't think you can go on an online lobby or lounge though. I would love to see another Chevrolet up there in contention.

Thank you shaggy, that track is not one that I'm known to be any good at. I guess it's a little easier when I'm not door to door with Drex most of the race.

Making the races a little longer will definately make for more interesting stradegy. Each track plays out a little differently in tire wear. Along with vehicle used & how it's driven. This stradegy is kinda a crap shoot. For me anyway who mostly runs short sprint races.

I will keep that in mind for the extra laps some times to add more pit stops. I cannot do well at all on any tire it seems! I pitted lap at the beginning of lap 6 because my front tires were gone. I am really starting to dislike the ISF but I’m going to keep working on it. I will also try to post how many laps we will do a couple days before the race so people can figure out strategy. That was a good race. The new guys did really well. I think Dev would have had a great race if he didn’t crash out on the first lap.

noticed the op had been updated in while, so are you still accepting folks? I'm not interested or concerned with the points or winning, just participating.

ROME HERE WE COME!

dev, bob, sinister, skel, can i send ya'll friend requests?
