I get the feeling if PD developed nothing but boxes with wheels and told people that the red box is a F430, the black box is a Miata, Blue box is a R34 and so on some people here would rate the game 100/100.

TC .. you forgot a 360 spinning camera in third person view everysingle other racing game has this feature except for gt5 ..

Every time I'm driving down a long straight, I want to do this :(

Other racers have had the option for years. It's just another thing that makes GT5 look like an old game in fancy clothing.

No, not for me. Some features are unfinished, but I am thankful about the new ones, they added.

Agree, I wouldn't say it's the best, but I never could say "that's the best GT".
The first GT started everything, but of course had many flaws and cannot be considered a simulation anymore. The second GT had a HUGE amount of content and was improved in everything, but also rushed. GT3 looked incredible back then but didn't even had half the content of GT2. GT4 had more content than GT2 and looked amazing too, but was at the same time kinda stale. GT5 combines almost everything good from the old GTs, with amazing physics and things never seen before in similar games, but it seems like it was too much for this console generation (too much detail and new things equal more developement time and performance issues).

But I loved all GTs, all at the same level, I prefer and miss things in all.

yea, that's totally what I said...

so, wait...it isn't mandatory for completion, but it is mandatory for 100% completion...please explain...

so I'm just supposed to be happy about it?

this is more of a perspective issue

it's called frustrating and not wanting to go in and out of races for an FGT, or missing a car you've been wanting cause you didn't have enough credits, then never seeing it again

again, something that was advertised before release, then not in the game

yea...you get to choose from their pre-selected options...

again, I'm just supposed to be happy about it?

no, I actually have a great TV. some of the cars sound great, most don't.

so I guess the fact that the GT-R handles well has a lot to do with it's feather light weight, right?

just speculation. I believe it had more to do with laziness and just porting from GT4/GTPSP

there's lots wrong with it. you have to have the paint chip, and you can only use it once, then you have to pay 2k? yea, this is pointless hoop jumping

AGAIN, I'm just supposed to be happy with it?

lol, no. if you advertise something to sell the game, it better be in there...that's usually called false advertising, or something crazy like that..."hey, come buy this new awesome car with a top speed of 300mph and 2g's of cornering capability! oh yea, after you buy it, you'll find it does 200, and has .9g of corner capability...but we'll still charge you the same..."

I've heard it affects the handling after some time

that was merely a single example of the other stupid tuning options...way to use your brain...

first, they aren't "Indy GP cars", and secondly, they put down the ridiculous amount of money to include everything else...why put Indy in without Indy Cars? that's really a bonehead move. also, it's not like they were walking a tight line with the budget...

OH MAN! I'M SO GLAD SOMEONE EXPLAINED THAT TO ME!!!!!! I WAS NOT AWARE!!! EVER!!!!!! seriously, it's just a small detail that was pointless to take out.

this is a small detail, but hugely irritating when trying to take photos in replay mode

you apparently have never played any other proper racing sim where you can have multiple setups, and load each one depending on condition or track

smartass. it's irritating, and was just a stupid decision. it's like having to air up your tires every time you need to drive your car. doesn't take a very long amount of time, but starts to grind on you if you have to do it every time.

that's how I feel about this post
also, I feel insulted because of the whole implied attitude that Americans are third rate citizens simply because we're American. it's just euro-trash prejudice in action, and that's what was insulting.

1. You can't do anything about anything. What does complaining and pissing people off get you?

2. 5-10 seconds isn't a long time. Get some more relevant posts before you call me a smartass.

3. All you are doing is complaining to others. Do you think we're retarded? We have the game! We know. Thing is, most don't care. Your list just represents you being angry because you can. A simulator CANNOT be perfect. Get used to it, you aren't going to get anything you want.

4. And for your GT-R reference, it has an advanced AWD system, a twin-turbo 3.8L V6, and enough electro-nannies to turn a meteor. Plus, it's not 40+ years old. Of course it's grippier than a muscle car!

5. Mods, there are enough "GT5 Sucks" threads.

And because of the physics, everything else about the game should be ignored?

It's not like the game is being rated as a 5/10 on Metacritic. It's at 84/100 right now. With all the flaws GT5 has, I'd be wondering about the reviews if GT5 was in fact somewhere in the 90+ range.
It's still a game and there's more to a game then the driving physics, even if it's supposed to be a simulation.

For a game that calls itself a driving simulator physics are the #1 priority. Notice the Destructoid 10/10 review notes how fun and realistic the cars are to drive while scathing reviews focus on superficial things like the looks of the standard cars and could care less how much of a simulator it is.

GT5 excells exeedingly in most of the areas I personally see important as a sim racer. A-Spec modes have never been a challenge or interesting to me as I find racing mindless bots a necessary evil to gain all the cars. To me their purpose is scenery. Online racing real people is where it is at for me. Once more people get further in the game more GTP events will appear and the real fun will start

SUfan21
16 cars > 6 cars, therefore GT5 > GT1,2,3,4

Among many things.

People just expected too much and when all they got was an improved GT game with a bad World of GT5Craft grinding system they went nuts

That's what I've tried saying, I mean sure they left some things out, but you can't fix it. Do you have PDs' software? Enjoy the game for what it is, and if anything new comes out, then that makes the experience even better.

And I don't believe the Hommel picture. Looks like someone tried zooming in too much.

5. Mods, there are enough "GT5 Sucks" threads.

Tell me about it. I'm so bored of this stuff I'm actually kinda glad you guys are unhappy with GT5 now. I hope the same thing happens with the next game you buy, and every game after that, and I hope your marriages result in bitter disappointment and you spiral down into depression because you're incapable of shaking off the pessimism that hangs over you like a dark cloud. Meanwhile I'll be having a load of awesome fun and not intentionally scrutinizing every pointless aspect of a game in order to start a new topic about it.

Haha, I love GT5, and while everyone has an opinion, the complaints are getting out of hand.

And one that's been reported.

My point exactly.

There are people on this forum who would simply refuse to see any blemishes associated with the GT series. The Hommel is modded badly - no matter how much you defend it, or attack the camera angle, zoom, or the person who took this screenshot, you cannot ignore the fact that it is a badly modded car. The 458 Italia model? Brilliant. This Hommel? Horrendous.

If you take away the GT brand and slap on a Forza logo, and this car would be ripped to shreds.

It's 1 car that's not even interesting. I bet my DN-X would look pretty bad, but I don't drive it because it's pointless.

I loving GT5 at the moment, sure it's not perfect but what game is.

GT_Prologue5, I have a feeling that you would be one of those "100/100" people that BoneSawTX mentioned. for the GT-R thing, I mentioned it cause you specifically said "More weight= less handling"...I was pointing out flaws in your logic. all American cars aren't 40+ year old muscle cars. I wasn't comparing nice, awesome new japanese cars to old, mushy american dinosaurs. I was comparing on even fields.

again, 5-10 seconds ISN'T a long time, but starts to wear on you when you have to do the same thing over and over when in previous incarnations you made one change, and it stayed like that. no, I don't think everyone is retarded, just the ones who fail to show they have a working logic...such as you.

thank you. glad to see someone with a brain around here. I see he reported me over something that wasn't even a response to him because I guess he was just mad that I was able to make more logical sense then him, and now he's all butthurt about it.

that makes sense..."hey you didn't like this video game I like, so I hope the rest of your life is filled with nothing but misery and failure!"...sir, go back to 4chan.....

A fair point. I don't drive the Hommel myself either.

However, the GT series has always been known to have great graphics for all the cars on the roster for , not just the very interesting ones. Why should the cars that "look pretty bad" be included in the first place?

After all, GT5 is being sold as the complete package, and not just a physics engine.

so, because YOU don't like it means that it doesn't deserve the level of attention and detail that Kaz is known for putting into all of his efforts?

If the man paid good money to buy the game, then he has paid for the right to call an unfinished piece of crap "a piece of crap".

I think it is the best so far, but it seems there is still plenty of room for improvement, notably on the areas you pointed. The availability of downloadable updates on PS3 makes this not much of an issue, as I hope PD will provide updates to fix at least some of those issues.

Like who? Where are these mythical people? Guys like TenaciousD even acknowledge it's faults. Hateful anti GT trolls are abundant on this forum not OMG GT5 is the best ever users.

If I were to review GT5 for a mag I'd give it a 9/10. But for me its a 9.5/10 possibly 10/10 with a few more patches

And standard cars look fine if not zoomed in on.

I sorta agree with your sentiments but unfortunately not only is the game poor but I keep finding something else really bad.

The latest I found just an hour ago; It may be raining heavily but the track is bone dry - no kidding !

FGT race at wet Suzuka, lapped the field twice, cruising on soft rubber with plenty of grip while the AI pits for wet tyres and then drives so slow I have 22 mobile chicanes to get around.

True some complaints are worthless and petty (eg I am fed up of grinding at <level 25) but an awful lot are made by long time GT players who care about the game.

lol at the determination on that mans face. but yes, I hope the issues will be fixed with updates. I think Kaz would be insane not to. don't get me wrong, the game has a great base to start at, but just as a released product, this is not up to the "Gran Turismo" level of quality that we've been shown in the past. the physics are really awesome, and the cars handle great, and we FINALLY got some online play from GT5 (been playing PC sims for 3-4 years so far), but there are just a lot of small errors that makes me wish the game was just delayed a bit longer to fix these things. seems like a great idea, but the whole game just seems unfocused...like they tried to do way too much all at once, then Sony probably forced them to release it before christmas '10.

yeah, a game I would rate 9/10 because it has no flaws

I know you signed up for this forum 30 days ago suckered into the hype GT5 would reinvent the wheel

You deserve to be disappointed

This is crazy....... I can not see my self going back to GT4 in favor over GT5 for ANY reason.... But to me GT5 better than GT3 by a long shot......

Because the whole GT5 forum would just be one thread full of hate and 5 threads about actually interesting stuff
