While it kills me to make this post. I truely believe this is the worst racing game that has ever existed. I have fought for many many years telling people its going to be an epic game, heck even when it first came out I kept telling myself "Well it has to get better". After about 65 hours of playing, I am done with it. It is the worst game I have ever played. The only thing they got right was the graphics, which are amazing. But to have a game pre-ordered for 4 years and it not live up to anything is just sad. It is way behind the times of modern racers. I am not one to complain, that is why this is my first post. I usualy stick up for games wether they are decent or not.
Background:
I have been playing the GT series since the original GT1 came out on PS1. I remember the cool things you could do on it. Heck I remember doing the races where you could win the FTO race car. I tried about 30 times to get the green one! GT has always had a special place in my heart.
Graphics:
Graphics on this game are amazing, probably the best I have ever seen from any console. The Damage isnt so great. I mean NFS series has better damage on most of the cars. Which is sad because the NFS games are just bad.
Gameplay:
The physics are alright, about as good as GT3. They do need some work in alot of areas. For example: Today I was racing a stock gallardo on Daytona. Every turn the car would spin out. I thought it was becuase I race with no assists. I put them all on and it did the same thing. Very annoying.
They also have no class setup. Just a weight/hp limit. Which is really stupid. There are hundreds of combinations and I kept getting whooped because the host online would always setup a room with HIS cars setup. 450hp/1300+ kg. I had a car that was 404hp and 1500kg. His was 450 and 1301. Not really fair and you would have to have hundreds of cars tuned up just to complete. If I backed out to fix the car, I would try and search for his room again and it wouldnt come up.
Sounds:
The Sounds are AWFUL. They sound nothing like cars do in real life. I have a 720hp Supercharged C5 and it sounds like a Black-and-Decker electric drill. Nothing like a Corvette sounds in real life. This was the biggest let down of GT5.
Online Play:
You cannot search for more than tracks which is really stupid. I kept trying to search by name or by power limit... Yeah that would be a nice option. I have to scroll through 200 rooms to find a one that I have a compatible car with. Unless you want to pick a default car, which is kind of boring espically if you have spent hours tuning on one car.
Customization:
This pretty much doesnt exist. You cannot have custom paint jobs. You have to wait to purchase a car with a color before you can paint another car that color? WTF? My first car was a 98 Civic hatch. I went to put wheels on it and it said "You cannot put wheels on standard cars". What the hell? 5 years and you cannot do anything? No body kits or anything? So basically you're telling me that I have 150 or so cars I can modify (visually) then about 900 that I cant touch? So much for sticking out, or making a car "mine". They are leagues behind any other console racing game in this section.

This game has about the same amount of races as GT5P. 5 years in the making and only offer 50 or so races? FM3 had rougly 150+ races and it took them 1/5th the time to make it.
Conclusion:
This game is unfinished. Who ever heard of Premium cars vs Standard cars? That is the most dumb concept I have ever heard of. They should have gotten more done in the 5+ years they have spent making it. Its almost like they did nothing for 5 years but combine GT4 and GT5P and call it GT5. I know alot of you love this game and I did at first too. After a couple weeks playing I got bored of it, put it in tonight for 5 minutes and turned it off. I wish someone else could make a good racing game for the PS3 that was semi-realistic...
