I bought mine from amazon dealer so It's much harder..

just tell logitech amazon won´t help you like you want and they´ll take care about your problem. i had to call two or three times, too. even if you bought the wheel at amazon (btw. i did so, too) logitech is the manufacturer and therefore responsible for all kinds of warranty cases! so don´t let them fend you off!

Does anyone know of any good places to purchase the wheel? I was going to buy it from logitech's website but I'll wait for input from you guys on some good places to order it from before I place the order.

I see you already put in an order at CompUSA.

For anyone else looking for a G27 (in the States):

Logitech (official website) is 'out of stock' / Amazon states a 1-3 month wait before shipping - both sites are asking $299.

I just bought mine last night from Circuit City - $20 off! $279.99 same day shipping - grand total for me was $290 (with 3 day shipping).

If you don't have one yet, get off the fence and take advantage of this deal!!! 👍👍👍

got my PS3 and GT5 at xmas. been saving for the G27, now i'm 60% done with the game.

i finally decided to pass on the wheels and stick with the DS3 for this GT release. next GT i'll get the wheel. the game and wheel will hopefully be better then, and i can start the game with a new wheel rather than just finish it with a wheel. but apparently there will be some races i won't gold with the DS3 this time. oh well. just can't justify a $300 wheel for a game i'm gonna finish up soon. then i'll just want a new wheel for GT6 or whatever game i'm heading toward.

That was the same price compusa had, but since they have tigerdirect/compusa stores in Illinois I am forced to pay tax.

I plan on building up my pc for gaming once I grow tired of gt5, so the wheel will continue to get use with pc driving sims.

Here're some useful tips on Manual H-Gate shifting for G25/G27 users I came across. Echoes a bit of my experience while trying the wheel.

Thanks, I'm going to check that out.

told ya :) good for you m8. good to know logitech US handles complaints the same way than germany. do you have to send back your "old" set?

No complaints here. Having a lot of fun with it. I tend to us the paddles while online racing though. I feel as if i'm losing time with the H shifter.

Are you getting a playseat? If yes, G27...if not, DFGT IMHO!

I don't agree. A playseat with a G27 is boss, no doubt about that. But, regardless of what wheel you have, a good stand is a must to fully enjoy it.

I use the G25/G27 Delux stand from "WHEEL STAND PRO" (I totally recommend it - they do US & international sales).

It worked great with my DFGT - and now I've got my G27 on it and I'm lovin' it :D

You have a good point. I did watch the Wheel Stand Pro Video yesterday and was very impressed. I even went to their website afterwards but noticed unfortunately that they're out of stock.

My initial post meant if ppl are serious enough to get a G27 or a Thrustmaster, they're definitely going to need a playseat or a diy chair for the separate gearbox. I admit that this way is a much more professional look and feel.

Oh, man, the Thrustmaster is worthy of nothing LESS than a playseat! lol

I double checked WHEEL STAND PRO just now too, racing accessories to use with GT5 are hard as bawlz to come by!

I think the GT5 / Forza 3 debate should end: if a game can cause the world to sell out of wheels & wheel stands - they win 💡 👍👍👍

I have read some negative reviews here on the playseat evolution, but I think that is their cheapest entry level model. They now make various different models as well as prices. You all should really check out their new Playseats website.

I can't afford to buy a playseat since I'm a poor college student, so I built my own this afternoon. I built it out of our old lazyboy from our living room, and then built the shifter mount, the pedal box, and a riser to raise the chair up out of our screen door. Took a while since my only tools were a bread knife, a little drywall saw, and a drill, cut my hand up good too from the drywall saw slipping. Here are some pics:

Here is my old setup with the DFGT:

I'll probably have to get a playseat when I move home since I dont think this will work with my previous setup at home:

I have only played for about 10 minutes so far, but after I post this I'm going to play the rest of the night.

This wheel is insane!!

The game feels totally different, the feedback is great and smooth unlike the super notchy DFGT. Much easier to control the cars and the larger diameter wheel gives it a more realistic feel.

The pedals are awesome. Took a little bit to get used to how much more resistance they have compared to the springy DFGT pedals. The pedal unit itself is huge compared to the DFGT pedals. I love having the clutch pedal too. My roommate tried the pedals with his shoes on and he commented that they are very close, so it seems as if the best way to use this is with socks on which is nothing new for me since I never played with shoes on, although I might throw a pair of pumas on and see how it is since they are close to racing shoes.

The wheel is great, the leather is much nicer and more realistic than the plastic DFGT wheel. I am trying to get used to the lack of buttons on the wheel but that's not a make or break kind of thing, just a minor inconvenience. As I said above, the larger diameter makes this feel like less of a toy, and the wheel itself feels very solid in comparison to the DFGT. The force feedback is ultra smooth and very quite, I keep the FFB set to 8 since I like it strong and it is very good, FFB was one of the things I was worried about since people complained about this. I have barely used the paddles but I must say they are a huge step up from the crappy little buttons on the back of the DFGT. I am also a big fan of the lights that go green to yellow to red with your RPM's.

The shifter was a little tricky to find the right spot to mount it, but once I had it all sorted out it is great. This is the only piece that still feels toyish, but I have no complaints because I love shifting through the gears. The buttons on the shifter unit are ok, nothing really special, although they are just buttons so as long as they work I don't care. I am getting the hang of the shifting in this, and I feel like using the shifter will be my way of playing from here on out.

I have been reading alot about how people are missing gears, but I really don't find this to be a problem. I started with a slow car and worked my way up until I was used to shifting and I barely miss gears. The only time I seem to miss gears is when the shifter itself doesn't feel like its actually in the gear, so I don't feel like its a problem with both the clutch/gas and the shifter, but this may just be me.

Overall I am extremely happy with this wheel. It is even better than I thought it would be. Everyone's comments on how it wasn't supported kind of bummed me out, but after playing it for a while I really can care less if it ever gets fully supported as it is just fine the way it is. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a wheel since it is right in the middle price wise, and performs great.

i´m glad you like it. it´s indeed a great wheel. i can support everything you said about quality, ffb and feeling for the game. now you only have to get a nice rig for it, or build one yourself, cause this wheel needs to be mounted firm :)

i think some people are complaining about the ffb because they´ve played racing sims on pc. you can adjust the g27 better on the pc so it feels even more realistic, ffb is stronger there, too. if you have the chance to try your wheel on gtr2 / gtr evo or live for speed you´ll feel the difference. even though this is fact, the g27 is one of the best wheels for gt5 and you´ll have much fun with it.

cheers

If you look at videos, Kaz and Sebastian Vettel both played GT5 with DFGT and playseats. Thus, I think GT5 was designed with DFGT and playseats in mind. Also, if you saw Gran Turismo TV with the Nissan GT Academy competition, all the contestants played in playseats with DFGT.
