Would it be possible for PD to update the sound through a patch?

I'm so curious to know this as its the only thing that really bothers me about GT5, is the awful engine and car sounds. They are a bit on the "weak side". Would it be possible for PD to improve all the car sounds through a software update or is this too late?

I would love to see this in Spec II, but I am not keeping my hopes up.

Well, it is possible, for example in prologue from spec 1 to spec 2 they updated the sounds so who knows.

Possibly. They updated the sound of the Lexus LFA before,

It's just a matter of IF they want to do it...

Maybe on some of the significant cars but not all of them. We will have to wait and see...

It is possible. They did it with the Lexus ISF in prologue as I recall. I don't think this will be in Spec II though, but PD could do it, it's just a matter if they want to as said above.

They could do pretty much anything if they wanted to, now are they going to, that is the question.

Something like this would be nice for the turbo cars.

I assume its possible but it would be a hell of a big update to do all the cars that need sorting.

I'de be glad if they changed just a few like the cars that sound nothing like they should and how the ferraris have that same generic sound...its annoying

I guess they could change every car sound if they remade the sound engine.

Some cars does sound exact the same than the other car, but my guess is that it's all about the code itself, soundfile has a name, and by accident some names been repeated with other vehicles so they does sound the same, I am pretty much sure there is hilarious amount of coding with 1000 cars, so mistakes might have happened.
Idling sound in other hand sounds really good in GT5, especially muscle cars.

I really hope PD releases a sound update. It's pretty bad in GT5 compared to Forza 4. It would completely make the game a lot better. Sound should be a definite priority in a car sim. We should start a petition or at least post to Kaz's twitter to let him know how important this issue is. I've been a GT5 fan, but Forza is looking more attractive to me each and everyday. Such a shame that something as sound can ruin the game for me.

The V12-powered cars in the game sure need much more love, of all the V12 Premiums in the game, only two sound accurate :irked:

Mclaren F1

Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 (same for the LP640)

Enzo Ferrari

Sound plays a huge factor in the immersion, PD really needs to improve them :(

Lol I was JUST about to post this and my video. Thumbs up!

Is it possible? Yeah, sure. Is it probable? Not really, no.

Well a lot of cars just need a better mix between the sounds that already exist in the different views.
Many 3rd person exhaust notes are good even when the in-car is not so good, that could be a smaller fix and possibly an overall issue.

This is just my opinion so take i as that just an opinion.

I think most of the car sounds are fine. The only ones i think that need work is some of the standards. The sad thing is to get the most out of the sounds you need a pretty good home theater system.Which is a bummer, because not everyone can afford/have a home theater and are stuck with just the TV speakers which will cause the engine sounds to not be that great.

i hope also for better sounds... 1 day to wait :dunce:

👍 Switching all the views to the 3rd person sounds would solve most of the sound problems.

Actually no that would be unrealistic in my opinion. I like the fact that when your in the cockpit view the sounds sound kinda muffled as it would it a real car. When your in chase came or replay mode the sounds should be louder and clearer. PD just have to make some adjustment.

In my ears, all that PD needs to do is turn up the sound of the engine and the related components. It works well with the other titles!

Still not muffled enough, in my opinion, however.

+1

best muffled sound you get in PGR4 but in GT5... well drive the BMW M3 or C63 AMG in cockpit or bumper = high performance vacum cleaners :scared:

I'd like to independantly choose the view and microphone location, I have surround sound and i'd like to hear cars come up behind me or the sound or a rear ir mid-mounted engine behind me instead of in front of me.
I prefer the sounds from the case cam but prefer to use the bumper cam.
I concede that getting the sounds right would be very hard, for example and in car perspective needing different sounds from different direction for induction, turbo whistle/sc whine, exhaust then mix in tyre squeals and other cars

I don't care too much about car sounds but I do care about the music sounds. I have custom tracks plating and they sound fine on my comp, iPod, and ps3 and for some reason certain songs are different volume levels when played threw gt5 during a race. I hate it as I put the songs on to listen to them as I race and can barely hear some of them.

It is possible, and I really hope they tone down (about 99% quieter would be nice) the transmission whine the FC Transmission makes. I don't care for this much realism, most people want to hear the music the engine makes.

I have a 7.1 and this is how it works. If I'm in a MR my rear speakers take over I can hear sounds according where there cars are in GT5. I think the sound placement is really good in GT5. Do you own surround system?

Options menu- adjust race sound effects volume
