Would it be possible for PD to update the sound through a patch?

I'd like to independantly choose the view and microphone location, I have surround sound and i'd like to hear cars come up behind me or the sound or a rear ir mid-mounted engine behind me instead of in front of me.
I prefer the sounds from the case cam but prefer to use the bumper cam.
I concede that getting the sounds right would be very hard, for example and in car perspective needing different sounds from different direction for induction, turbo whistle/sc whine, exhaust then mix in tyre squeals and other cars

I have a 7.1 and this is how it works. If I'm in a MR my rear speakers take over I can hear sounds according where there cars are in GT5. I think the sound placement is really good in GT5. Do you own surround system?

I do own a surround sound system, maybe I need to up the volume of my rear speakers when I play as I sit closer to the telly than normal but F1 2010 & 11 are ok

Possibly. They updated the sound of the Lexus LFA before,

It's just a matter of IF they want to do it...

I was trying to explain to an in-denial person on youtube that refuse to acknowledge the fact that the v1.5 update brought with it some engine noise changes. It was basically a debate about how much a home theater sound system impacted the engine sound. My argument was that the video that was made was manipulated in ways to prove the uploaders point and I hate that kind of BS. It was terrible to the point that the uploader would play with a car with an titanium exhaust upgrade and call it the normal version and then play with the same car except remove the exhaust and make it stock and say it's because of the 5.1 sound system when it was really because of an update. 👎👎👎👎 At the end of the day a home theater system isn't going to change a V12 sound to a V8 etc.. and the guy was having a hard time grasping that concept.

I don't get it GT5 is king still even with Forza 4, but even an adult like me can admit that most of GT's engine sounds are beyond terrible, not gonna change how great GT is. It has weaknesses, but many strengths.

I wasn't too concerned with it until I played Forza 4.

I have driven an Audi R8 in real life, and the sound from Forza was as close to 100% in cockpit view as in real life when I drove it. It actually brought me back to when I got to race one in Las Vegas. Then I went back to GT5 and drove the same car in cockpit in GT5 and the sound is barely linkable to what it sounds in real life.

I'm not sure what GT does but Forza sounds like what you expect cars to sound. Compare the sounds you get in Autovista when you start a car to the sounds they make in GT, I really see where the vaccum comments come from now.

I bet the sounds in GT5 would be better if there weren't so many damn cars in the game. I'm guessing it would take a lot of time to make 1000 cars sound the same as their real life counterpart.

I'm so curious to know this as its the only thing that really bothers me about GT5, is the awful engine and car sounds. They are a bit on the "weak side". Would it be possible for PD to improve all the car sounds through a software update or is this too late?

I would love to see this in Spec II, but I am not keeping my hopes up.

Yes. Inside sound is too muted. Try 3rd person view.A simple slider for in-car sound vs exhaust sound could allow to personalize enough how car sounds.

Needs more bass and intensity.
The AMG V8s sound weak in the game, the R8 V8 sounds terrible.
Among others.

I just hope some people stop confusing Samples vs sound quality.

Gran Turismo, since GT5Prologue has had the best sound quality and effects in any car game so far, no matter what your speaker settup is.

Where Gran Turismo fails, is with samples. I do admit they have improved IMMENSLY in comparison with previous titles, but there are still cars that don´t sound accurate. They don´t even match the sound of the engine that they have. And in some cases, even when they try to match the car´s sound to the real thing, they fail, like for example, with the previous LFA sound (I´m surprised that they actually patched the sound, and it does sound way better right now).

Another point were PD fails is when installing an upgraded exhaust. The car should keep its characteristic engine sound, instead of having a virtual engine swap. The only cars that somewhat keep their engine-type sound are most japanese 6 cylinder cars and the Mustang Mach 1, that surprisingly it sounds like a V8 with all exhaust (<== this is a first for PD).
