say Im driving in a race online with other drivers behind and I pull a controled slide in a corner, creating a sweet trail of smoke covering the track and obscuring the trailing drivers vision. Would this be considers bad driving? I dont know if there is a rule about this but it was always legal in spy huner, now if I can just fiigure out how to lay down an oil slick.

No.

The bigger worry is that someone might refer to it as drifting.

Haha! I think that if you can pull that off they can't possibly accuse you of driving badly :)

However, some would probably be bashing you for doing it, but that would just mean they're jealous they can't pull off the same trick ;)

I'd be lying if I said I didn't tune my AWD cars so I could do exactly that on demand.

That's not bad driving as much as it is showing off. Bad driving is doing something directly to an opponent's car to cause them to wreck. All you're doing is obscuring their vision, no different then bump drafting someone in a RAM Pickup Truck.

Wreck is a noun, CRASH is the verb, and in your case you want the Verb.

THEN & THAN are two different words with different meanings. If you don't know the difference between then and than then I suggest you look them up, it'd be better than misusing words.

I suggest that you read the original post again, becuase I don't remember asking for a grammer lesson.

I wasn't giving you one. But can I interest you in a spelling lesson?

I don't think it is that bad but in real life if you were actually racing hard with other people in the same horsepower range it would more than likely slow you down but this is GT5 so whatever. ;)

If you use the "Yellow Bird" it will practically be expected that you slip around corners!...:sly:

The RUF cars do it all the time.

Its not bad driving per se, you wouldnt get a penalty for it.

If youre creating tire smoke that indicates the rears out of shape probably power oversteer.

If a cars following closeby it could cause contact , say someones on your inside on a right hander id want to avoid getting too much power down.

No issue.
It only could be if you are not drifting to deliberately block a faster driver directly behind you.

Can I just jump in to deffend someone. Get off his back! You have taken this off topic in what can only be called a spiteful manor. Do your eally have that little in your life that you feel the need to attack him for an honest mistake? There are people on here that have MUCH worse grammar and spelling than he might. I for one am not brilliant with my spelling or grammar and i understand that it is part of the user code on here but seriously you are out of line! If the mods feel that it is bad enought o speak to him then let them. It isnt your job and i really do suggest you limit your posts to being a little more posative and constructive rather than being critical of someone who might very well have issues with it and take it to heart. Its not big or clever!

No more red cordial for this guy.

PS - I am totally going to rename my house "Spiteful Manor". We'll see how many Jehovah's Witnesses come knocking THEN!

No suprise from people arguing about blinding opponents to take an unfair advantage.

Almost all of you win a ticket for GTP top online racing club 👍
But there are better ways to do it. Like connecting mic to a 3000W hifi and inoculate the best music in opponents ears 👍

No way that move can't be considered bad driving, just because you think to do it for the only purpouse of blinding opponents and stay ahead of them. Aside of the fact they probably overtake you as this oversteer will slow you down, aside of the fact they could stump into you as they can't avoid you, aside of the fact you can do it once and they just can think you made a mistake, aside of the fact if you tune the car for drifting you will be a lot slower than opponents, just do it more than once and serious drivers will hunt/kick/avoid racing with you forever.

why are you all so mean to each other? somebody is always having to defend someone else for whatever reason, like yesterday I ask a question and somebody wanted to know what it had to do with GT5? I was asking about accounts for GT5.:indiff:

If it's done to block, yes. Even if it's "controlled", putting your car into an unnecessary slide while driving in front of someone might result in a penalty depending on the race official. Watch the show Setup if you can find it. They give penalties for almost everything you can think of on that show

This statement makes so many assumptions that I'm amazed you think it has enough merit to even use it as a disparaging remark, let alone "proof" of anytihng.

I guess you are right, but I think I'm not saying anything special. The number of threads opened here by people disappointed by average online experience say far more than my unappreciated and unlovely post.

On my side, I'm amazed by anyone approving or encouraging this kind of online behaviour. I hope you are only warning me to be more polite.

On topic:

I'll just assume that by "bad driving" you mean "against the rules in some way".
I'd say that is not in line with guidelines for behaviour while racing (at least the ones on here). If you did that on purpose to block his vision and make him have a crash then definitely not. I assume it would be some sort of blocking, which is not allowed.
On the other hand, if you agree with your mate that it's ok, then by any means, make some smoke!! Big smoke!! :)

Unwarranted sarcasm only digs your hole deeper.

in a casual racing enviroment, no, in a competitive racing enviroment, yes, unless it's a drifting competition, in a real world competitive series if you drifted around like so you would be penalised

What would they be penalised for?

Yea online I've never seen another drivers tire smoke....so dunno how this would work.
