We all know about how PS3's were designed to enable them to be linked together to effectively double or tripple the computing power as in the large presentation screens where 4 are linked together to give 4xHD resolutions.

My question is this, if GT5 had the option to give better graphics and more cars on the track by linking two PS3's together, would you buy one for that purpose?

Yeah, I would if I happened to have a spare $600 in my pocket, though I don't.

I don't really think they would develop a whole separate game just so a couple people can have more cars. It would cost Sony/PD more money than it would be worth.

If the game is so awesome it needs two PS3s to run properly they should just release it on PC :p But no, I wouldn't buy a 2nd PS3, I'm still tossing up whether to buy a 1st PS3 to get it, there's no way I'd buy 2. In fact, if GT5 required 2 PS3s to play well I probably wouldn't buy it at all, because I know I'd be missing out on stuff despite paying all that for a single PS3.

2x PS3s is more than a relatively powerful PC these days.

mmm i already have 2 ps3... BUT the disc drive does not work (it won't read any disk) in one, if I manage to fix it im on the wagon!

I like GT enough to know that I'd buy a second PS3 for LAN parties or having a multiple monitor setup. So, the answer is if I had the money, yeah.

A second ps3 would be cool and all, but kinda pointless for just one game to be expanded. I would like a second ps3 though.:)

No, even if I had 2 PS3's, I don't have a good TV to play it on. 1 is enough, besides the PS3 has enough power to give enough graphics.

I would buy one for every TV I have just for the BR player and when I have people over it would work double duty for LAN games. But yeah like everyone else I don't have the money to burn.

I'd buy as much as I'd need to play in the best conditions, EVER! :P

You didn't read the first post. He is not talking about a whole separate game, but about double the cars on track at the same time.

I remeber I suggested the idea as soon we hear about 4 PS3s being linked for 240 FPS GT5Prologue game. I suggested at least 2 PS3s for better graphics.. Thanks for posting and making a POLL out of it so it will catch some attention by PD team.

Anwser:

Yes I would buy another PS3 so that I will get better FPS and better AA. Even if FPS stays at 60 with 2 PS3s I hope the Graphics are way nicer, garage style graphics in game play mode.
And about more then 16 cars, They would not create it because it would be not fair with people that have ONE PS3 with less AA and less detail.

I'd buy a Vision Racer VR3, a 40" flatscreen, HDMI cable before I buy another PS3. It's just not needed, 1 is already a hell of a gaming experience. If only i had all the money for that stuff.

I'm a sucker for potential, ie. getting the best possible experience out of anything. I'd spend the extra AU$600 and probably buy another PS3 to get the better graphics.

People who say it's not worth it annoy me. :)

I'm sure if people had the money they would, but it really isn't worth that much unless you actually have that much to spare. If you think about how much it would actually improve the game, it's not much compared to other things you can buy with that amount of money.

Which is fair enough, but I'm an idiot with what I want. I'm a person that would travel half way around the world and spend a million dollars on improving something very small to make me feel satisfied.

i only have one ps3 and i didnt know that it cant handel the graphcs on max why are they making a ps3 game that isnt full detail on one ps3 so i need to buy a nother ps3 but my parents are concerned about how much electrical power i use because when i game i got a 32 lcd on 2 times a amplefire and on the moment 1 ps3 and than another is that expensive ?

I agree, I definitely would buy a second or even a third PS3 to play GT5 in best conditions. 200 cars on Nordschleife would be great in an 24h endurance Race with day and night ;-)

Thats the kind of thing I'm talking about, lets face it, the PS3 is due a price cut, and even forgetting about the better graphics, which is doubtfull anyhow, the thought of 40 or 50 cars on daytona road or 100 on Nurburgring would mean never a dull moment !!!

man **** i dont need more than 16 players on the track but will the graphics be better with 2 ps3s schould you really can seethe differents and how can i hoke that up

I don't really see this happening.

First of all, from a technical standpoint, think of SLI or Crossfire on computers. These multi-rendering technologies use super high bandwidth links between the multiple graphics cards (ie, PCIe to the northbridge and usually a "link" between the two cards). The PS3 simply has a gigabit ethernet port to talk to other PS3s. This is fine for supercomputer applications, but for realtime things like games it's just not suited.

And second, from a financial standpoint, Sony would lose money with such a scheme. They sell each PS3 at a loss, and make up for it with accessories and games. Implementing this idea wouldn't sell more games, expect for a second GT5. But they would lose money from selling another system.

So, it's nice to dream of 16xAA and other eye candy. But it's unrealistic to expect it on the PS3. Sorry!

Edit: My bad, I googled before I wrote this post but couldn't find any multi PS3 applications. But then after this post I found the thing with GT5P at 240 frames per second. Still, this was a tech demo. And because of the financial cost I still think what I wrote above is valid.
