Would you pay £2100 to drive a Veyron?

In a straight line. Once.

?

Groupon have an offer on being able to drive a Veyron at the mo. For £499, you can sit in the passenger seat while it is being driven by someone else, for £799 you can actually drive it.

Without the Groupon discount, the prices are £1100 and £2100 respectively. While these are fairly outragious as they are, when you read what you actuall get for your money, it gets more than a bit silly:
experience a straight line speed dash and the return dash in a Bugatti Veyron
so it's going to be a 1/4 mile drag, followed by driving back down the track, slowly. For £2100.

You do get a certificate telling you how fast you went, though.

Madness.

If I could go to 253 MPH, then yes.

"But race'emhard, this is just a 1/4 mile!"

**** that.

No. That much money to drive a car for probably less than 3 minutes? Might as well go to a dealership & tell them it's your "deposit" so you can actually test drive something for more than 5 minutes.

Seriously, there's much better car stuff to spend that money on. I spent less than $600 & got to drive a LP570-4 on an actual track for 5+ laps.

You should easily be able to do something similar for a little more than what I spent.

If I had money to blow on something like that, I could probably afford my own.

If my mates came together and would of bought that as my wedding gift hell yes I'd do it. If I had to fork over that money myself on a normal person's salary then hell F'ing no.

I'd rather buy some POS car, rip everything out and thrash it to death myself by driving it like a moron on an empry grain fiedl or something.
Then again, I could come up with a bazillion better things to do with 2100 bucks than even that.

In other words:

We were discussing the bsiness model in the office today. We reckon you'd need to get somewhere between 450 and 500 muppets to pay out for the full drive to start to turn a profit. And I'm not convinced you'd do that.

I would love to know how many actual bums they get on seats...

I can see some tool with a Ferrari doing it to "try it out."

This. Cut the roof off of a minivan to make a roadster, strip a cheap RWD to the the metal and find a dirt lot, put a giant junkyard engine into a small car.. There's much more fun to be had that will last you more than 10 seconds.

Hell... this should be a thread...
