If you look into EA forums, you'll notice Need for Speed traditional fans want crashes, cop chases, etc. and are outraged by Shift, a game that promises gamers great physics and proper races in real-life tracks like Spa, Silverstone, Brands Hatch and the Nordschleife.

So, I'm not surprised seeing how Gran Turismo's own traditional fans prefer a graphics exploit that is nice to have and behold ... over something that completely transforms the franchise and will endanger the reckless way people got used to do their offline (and sometimes online) races in it: damage.

Anyway, for every 2 voters that want to look at a pair of gloves over a wheel and to know how the dashboards look like, there's 1 that wants the game to be more close to a proper sim. That's a nice surprise

Depends...

By cockpit do you mean just being able to be inside the car, but it's all plain and black or do you mean fully modeled interior cockpit?

And by damage do you mean damage simulated to the parts or visual damage only?

Basically for me it's all about simulating the eperience so damage to your systems is more important. I want wheel alignment to go out, I want transmissions to get torn up etc. If it doesn't show externally, that's a shame, but it's not as important as having the damage register.

As far as the cockpit, if it's just having the ability to be inside the car (but it's ugly) that's the least there needs to be. If it's drawn all nice, then that's even better.

So for me:

1: Damage registered.
2: Cockpit view (non modeled) I could squeeze by with nose cam so this takes second to damage.
3: Damage modeling. I really want to see damage. It's more realistic and it's also important to see. You can tell a lot about a guy by how damaged his car is, I might go 3 wide into a turn with two pristine cars, but it's probably not wise if both cars have the crap beat out of them already on lap 2 as you are probably going to wreck with them.
4: Modeled cockpits. I think it would be great, but it's eye candy really.

Cockpit view on all cars is more important than visual damage to me. But steering animation has to changed to 1:1. Although i like to have at least non visual damage on all cars.

I'm as disappointed as you are. Damage has a bigger impact on the gameplay, which is what matters most. 👎

Nah, not really. Even with damage it's possible to bump and lean on the opposition (see GRiD, with so far most sensitive damage. The rest is waaaay poorer). It's just a matter of immersion, however I'd LOVE (and I think it's 200% necessary) to see the actual, physical damage (even without visual representation) implemented in the full game.

Not for me, driving without the cockpit view takes away 70% of the feeling for me. Bumper and roof cam feel to "gamey".

Proper collision physics is something else though.

I think I would prefer cockpit views, but I can understand why people also prefer damage.
Sure, I would also like a damage like in Grid, but I wouldn't mind much about it because I'm not such a bad driver I think and I could drive less risky for not hitting the wall. Whatever, I would like both, but cockpit views are more important to me.

Here here, also it adds personality to each of the 1000 cars.

I just want both equally, I can't choose. I always drive from bumper cam, but it's nice to have a cockpit view too, so you have a little bit more feeling with the car. Damage is really nice for gameplay, as when you crash, you need to repair it and you're out of the session if you crash hard enough. It's both very nice to have.

I just really believe all cars have cockpits, there is absolutely no scenario under which I can imagine PD not doing this..

I am also confident all it meant is they don't all have damage.. so for me the question is simply do you want all cars to be damaged.. well obviously the answer is yes..

I've not even decided if Cockpit view is something I like, if I had a triple screen setup then it's a no brainer, but I find the view a bit limited which impedes my accuracy, but will certainly make an effort to get used to it!

All them are important for a complete simulation but it's a question of priorities and the poll only lets to choose one.

About the proper sim thing just look at LFS steps, first was the cockpit, last the damage... :dunce:
