Would you like a few generic race cars from PD?

There has been lots of talk about PD branching out to include more series of motorsports. I've personally seen F1, Indycar, WRC, NASCAR, Can Am, touring cars, Grand Am, ALMS and Pirelli World Challenge mentioned. Some of these disciplines also have different eras that were epic in their own right, and could be worthy of inclusion.

That's a lot of cars to feature in the game, and PD is working on getting more of them modeled. That takes time however, and it's doubtful that anyone wants to wait several years for everything to be included.

Would some generic race cars under the PD/GT name have some merit in this case? If PD models a handful of real cars from each series and includes a PD model to compete with them, that could help fill in some gaps. This would be very helpful with something like vintage F1 or NASCAR, which have changed multiple times over the decades. A generic PD car in the style/performance of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s eras, with course variants to match, could really open up the game and offer a range of different experiences, whether it be A-Spec or online.

These generic cars would also place greater importance on a livery editor. It's rather likely that GT6 will get one, since it was one of the features planned for GT5, but couldn't be implemented. The livery editor will allow players to give the generic PD models an original design, replicate a real-world design, or anything in-between.

The vintage F1 cars already made an appearance in GT3, but obviously without a livery editor. This wouldn't be a foreign concept to PD, then. Doing it again for GT6 could offer a lot of potential for diversity.

Who else is onboard?

I want to see more offroad variation types of racing. We have WRC and like group B rally cars but not even Group B has its own league. I kinda want to see Trophy trucks.. I think it would be really fun and add that variation to the game.

Am I missing something here? If it takes PD a long time to model real world cars how is them modelling fictional cars going to be any quicker?

With fictional cars they don't have to spend as much time on small details, with the exactness in detail they put into a real race car. It would take the same time to create 2 real cars in one color as about 3-5 generic race cars (RMs) in every color

You're just making things up there. Colour also has nothing to do with it. This is PD we're talking about, whatever they're making they put insane details into it so I don't see the logic in purposely making a fictional car over a real one.

Yes i think they could create fictional cars faster than real cars, but i think this simply because they have to go out and look at the car in life were as if its fictional they can all do it by themselves.

Id rather have real cars though still.

I specifically think that they should make a Formula-car creator. You buy the chassis (or the full car, whatever works) and can then go into GTAuto, and instead of where you would find the normal spoiler, side skirts, rear spoiler, etc.. you'll instead find nose cone, side pods, top fairing and rear wing selectors. Each individual item might be loosely based off of a real world vehicle, but adjusted to allow you to make essentially a hybrid car using design elements of period Formula 1 cars. If someone knows what they're doing, they could essentially replicate/make a vehicle loosely-based around a real Formula 1 car, but this now opens the doors for a multitude of different formula cars and styles as well.

In addition, you can change the wheels, and maybe even the engines.

They wouldn't have to pay real teams for the rights to use their cars.

It's not just modeling, but also sourcing the cars and getting the licensing business taken care of. Cost becomes a consideration too, especially when they might end up having to travel to where the car is(ex: the Miura prototype). It's not a big deal to do that to model a course, but for just one car, it starts to seem a bit OTT.

However, with a fictional car, a bit of design, then the usual modeling is all that needs to be done. Actually, there could be less modeling work, since it's all being done on the computer.

Example: That premium Lexus DTM to compete with the rest. Can be painted any colour.

I would support anything that is worthy of support. If we are offered something respectful and kick butt that would make the competition say why didn't we think of that, I would be a happy to support it. The real question is do I have a choice???

Would prefer "racing" a real 2012 Mclaren F1, but no problem if it is called "formula macca" and it's similar. Same happens with monaco/cote d'azur: not the exact circuit layout but close, and that's way better than it not being in the game.

It takes time to research car models, record them in real life, take note of particular details, etc.

If it means having 3 more cars in the game than 1 real one, then sure, as long as they're believable.

I just figure PD can't cover the whole field from each racing series. If they can give us three or four real F1 cars for example, then a Formula Gran Turismo to paint as we want in the livery editor, that would be nice.

Continuing with the F1 example, PD could go back and do the same for a couple different eras of F1. A few 70s/80s/90s F1 cars that are real, then a Formula Gran Turismo to match the general design & performance from those respective eras. If PD did some research and went back to see what some of the F1 courses were like years back, they could use it as a DLC opportunity. A vintage F1 Pack with vintage cars & course to match would be pretty cool.

The same could be done for NASCAR.

Nascar was already done with the Gamestop camry and so was F1 with the FGT, but I support more PD original designed fantasy models for GT6. I would love more F1 cars... specifically the ones from the early '90s. gotta love the scream of that Ferrari V12. get the sound right for that thing and I'm in paradise.
