There has been lots of talk about PD branching out to include more series of motorsports. I've personally seen F1, Indycar, WRC, NASCAR, Can Am, touring cars, Grand Am, ALMS and Pirelli World Challenge mentioned. Some of these disciplines also have different eras that were epic in their own right, and could be worthy of inclusion.
That's a lot of cars to feature in the game, and PD is working on getting more of them modeled. That takes time however, and it's doubtful that anyone wants to wait several years for everything to be included.
Would some generic race cars under the PD/GT name have some merit in this case? If PD models a handful of real cars from each series and includes a PD model to compete with them, that could help fill in some gaps. This would be very helpful with something like vintage F1 or NASCAR, which have changed multiple times over the decades. A generic PD car in the style/performance of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s eras, with course variants to match, could really open up the game and offer a range of different experiences, whether it be A-Spec or online.
These generic cars would also place greater importance on a livery editor. It's rather likely that GT6 will get one, since it was one of the features planned for GT5, but couldn't be implemented. The livery editor will allow players to give the generic PD models an original design, replicate a real-world design, or anything in-between.
The vintage F1 cars already made an appearance in GT3, but obviously without a livery editor. This wouldn't be a foreign concept to PD, then. Doing it again for GT6 could offer a lot of potential for diversity.
Who else is onboard?
