Wow, is this is it? Or am I doing something wrong?

So, I finally ventured out further into GT5:P online. I managed to win the beginner race at High Speed Ring, and I looked at the other events. That's it? 25 events that the majority are Suzuka or Fuji? Worse yet, it seems all these races are designed for the sports or supercars. What happened to the races with slower cars, like the Integra Type R? I couldn't find one race where anyone was using cars in those PP ranges.

No offense to you guys who prefer the faster cars, but I'm just starting out and I would feel better working my way up instead of trying to start off first thing in a F40 I can't control at a fast pace, yet. And due to the lack of races with anything less than a F430 just make it extremely hard for me to learn. Sadly, there's not even an event for London or Daytona Road Course, the latter being probably my favorite track in the game.

I don't know. Maybe this is a rant, maybe it isn't. But I guess I'll just stick to offline. I'm growing tired of trying to race clean or successfully in the fastest cars, and if the Prologue doesn't have a class for us who like to race the 300Bhp cars, then I'll just wait for the full game or attempt to learn Fuji through the PP600 class which seems like my best bet.

I hope PD doesn't set up the online events themselves in the full game. I'd prefer to see the user be the one setting the PP range or cars allowed. :indiff:

I think that the online events PD provides us with are just a testbed as well. See what goes well, see what doesn't, do international races suffer from lag, and so on. I do agree with you that there should be more variations. We did have a 500 PP class at the beginning of online, where we had epic races with smaller FWD cars. On the other hand, I see PD trying a lot of things here, so I suppose (hope?) that they're just testing all kinds of ideas and functions.

Ya, the online events are ever changing. THis recent update was the most drastic yet, limiting them quite a bit, but as the interceptor said, I'm sure PD is testing lots of behind the scene things and will continually rotate events.

I'm with you though, I miss the pp500 events but can't complain with what is there now, beyond that one gripe.

i like driving the integra type-r. sadly there's no events right now. i just bought gt5p yesterday. i have to do the offline events until i have enough to buy me a sti ='(. i want to drive my type-r.

I agree that it would seem like PD is experimenting at the moment on what works and what doesn't.

I bet the International races have been a great success. And thats great as they would take notice of that and possibly do more international races.

There are so many variables to configure a race (tires, physics, laps, multi-car, one-make, etc.. they are just experimenting on what people like to race.

step in at the deep end!! get yourself to world event in a GTR and practice in the free run! would take you aday at most to get to an acceptable level of driving!

trust me in w.e. there is some **** that drives around and bumps / ramps people off the road. if you are clean and practice you'll be ok.

try it tomorrow. start off in the GTR. easy to control an average pace. learn the track you be fine! might no be able to keep up with the faster racers but you come middle easy.

and for the tracks.... yeah its the worst one yet but as people have said PD are testing! what another week for the next set.

some people like me can drive other faster cars too, it's just that they want to drive a lower horsepower car in events because they love them. like me i love my integra type-r but i cant' drive them in any events right now ='(

yeah i love my teg type-r aswell but we have to put up with what we are given.

i thought his point was that there is not enough races for the people with less ability and cant drive a f430 or GTR as quick as the rest. what i was saying is we have to put up with what we are given and get on with it. i moaned at the race events when they were put out but ive still had some great races on world event. sure theres not much choice but hey...

was just making the point of no need to moan on a forum when the time could be spent getting fast times and enjoying racing (no offence lol) ;)

Just wait a week or two and PD will change the online line-up again and hopefully there will be some lower hp events.

I've been enjoying driving in the 750PP recently - but my only incentive to do this class at all was that they removed all of the other races I used to enjoy - the competitive 500PP events (even after they disallowed R3 tyres), and good 600PP events at tracks like Suzuka and Daytona Road. I used to regularly race in around 4 events, now it's just the one, 750PP Suzuka. I really really hope they see fit to expand it a little.

The one plus is that it's funnelling the slightly smaller online user base into the events so you're less likely to have nobody to race against. But then again there is such thing as too many cars on the circuit...

That was more or less part of my point. I'd prefer a few more races with some of the slower cars to get into a better grove of online racing. So far, it's been crap as other racers use their F40s to basically ride me into the first turns of Suzuka.

The aggressive driving and bumping is bad everywhere, but especially so in the beginner events. Once you move to the professional events, especially if you coordinate with some of the other GTP'ers with chat or the schedule, you'll increase your odds of getting a good (or at least clean) race.

Also, turn 1 of any race, especially the crowded international events, are the absolute worst for getting unceremoniously punted off. While getting acclimated, your best bet is to pull off to the side at the start and let the pack move past, then proceed at your best pace (or just expect to get punted off on turn 1, and rejoin when you can -- same effect, just higher blood pressure).

The only problem with running from the back of the pack is you'll encounter all the horrible drivers along the way, and the punters are disproportionately represented in this group.
