anyone try it on a wheel yet? I'm running it on the Fanatec GT2 and its fun, few little tweaks to go but at least its drivable...

Yes, I'm on G27 and it's fun to. I have to learn hot to use hand brake and i can improve my tight cornering. But the overall feel is fantastic.

In the reactions the game director says details on the vita version will follow in the next week. I will be very curious for this :)
Actually, could you point out where it mentions a Vita demo please - all I could see was:

Hi all,

we’re working on WRC 3 Vita in these days. Soon we will release screenshots and all the information you wanna know about Vita version. The contents will be slightly different from the home console but I’ve checked it this morning and it’is pretty amazing.

About the demo there will be only PS3 demo available staring from today

S.P.

Just finished playing all the game modes. I played Road to Glory first, and thought it was pretty decent. Then I went on to Single Stage and was blown away. I don't think I blinked at all throughout the stage. It's been a long time since I've finished playing something and taken a step back and thought to myself, Jesus Christ... or have I ever had to rub my burning eyes from not blinking. It's a huge, huge change from the first two games. I'm definitely pre-ordering. 👍

:) Gets you, doesn't it?

And that was only part of the 6km stage 👍 it's going to be intense!

It certainly does!

I can't wait to try it out in a Fiesta! Preferably one in a black, white and green livery... :sly:

I think he meant the screenshots of the Vita Version. I hope for more of course.

Damn wired connection and download is slooooow.

same here, going to get some sleep to acquire a place for the TV before kids do :D

Physics. I don't like the feel, cars feels too much on rails a little for me, you can't "throw it in", though set ups will probably come in there.

Graphics. Lovely. Lovely. Lovely. Cars look bigger and better in scale, more lush colours and no stupid colour filters.

Damage. Improved massively.

Sound. Scraping sounds annoying, Co Driver MUCH improved.

Overall way better than I thought it would be.

Car is very twitchy but did notice steering lock can be adjusted in the setup but that option isn't available in the demo.

Would that be a certain Mr Block's car?

His car did me proud in WRC2 - looking forward to causing mayhem in that in 3 :)

How do you select to use the wheel? Its only giving me a ds3 option.

You need to start the game with the start button on the wheel, not the DS3, then it should give a wheel option in settings if your wheel is compatible, which wheel are you using?

oh ok thank you very much for the quick reply, I will try it now

edit, It works, Now to give it a try, Thanks again.

2nd edit, Damn i like this, Found it difficult using my shifter as a handbrake but started getting use to it at the end of my first go, Really enjoyed it, Can see myself pre-ordering this

You can remap the controls if needed...

lancia delta hf
I've done that, Im trying not to make too much noise to be honest because it gone midnight, Got the volume on low, I'll be able to give it some tommorow

I had ffb on full to start, A bit strong i'd say.

Where do you turn down the ffb?

+ Customizable controls.
+ Good graphics.
+ Decent sounds.
+ Nice stages.
+ Good co-driver.

- Gear suggestions often a bit off.
- Cartoon style characters etc.
- Steering animations in the cockpit completely off.
- (the reason why I won't get it) Absolutely horrid pad controls.

Seriously, dunno how it is with a wheel, but it's unplayble for me with a controller.
The cars act unnatural, there's an input lag and at the same time it's so sensitive that it's impossible to make slight corrections, especially on asphalt.

Too bad, the game itself is very solid. 8(

I'll check out if my PC can handle it and try that demo too, maybe the controls are better in that version.

I had a brief go with the ds3 and didnt like it at all, Too sensitive and would not buy it, But in all likelyhood i will by it to use with my wheel, Its quite involving with a wheel

Played the demo just now. I wasn't impressed at all, though I liked the stages. But... that was it really.

- Old graphics
- Bad FFB on CSW in PS3 mode
- Bad linearity (tried with Sen: OFF, 900 and 400)
- Braking without aids is horrible as all 4 wheels lock at the same time when pushing too far. Also I have a hard time feeling the brake point really, or lock-up threshold.
- Not really good with tactile feedback from a single BKG2 (though that's not a focus of most game studios)

To be honest, I would have liked the game more if the steering wheel support would be far better then it is now and that the linearity issues would get resolved, especially with the brake. Maybe also a bit more audible braking noises would be nice, like brake squeeks or traction loss under the wheels. Also if the loss of traction would be translated into the FFB then it would be great.

For now... with the games coming out I think I will go with F1 2012 as my first title to pick up in this season.

edit: oh and for the CSW turn down the FFB to 50% and turn all deadzones off. Also make sure that it is controller one if it is unresponsive by making your DS3 controller 2 (the CSW will automatically become 1).

Finally downloaded and gave it a shot. Mixed feelings.
The new graphics engine looks really nice. I never played WRC2 on ps3 so I can't compare but they're definitely a huge step up from WRC2 on PC. The new level design is far more detailed than the first 2 games. Undulation, camber, surface changes, trackside details are all improved.

+ New voice over is a good addition. New co-driver is a huge step up in quality even if he does sound like my butler. You can still change co-driver timing in audio options.

+ Handling is somewhat improved, but I almost prefer the sharper arcade handling of 2. Trying to drive from 3rd person view is still next to impossible. Bonnet view is still the best. New in-car view is great and possibly the best apex following helmet cam Iv used (Most are just distracting and of no use).

+ The best car damage iv ever seen in a rally game. Kids will love it.

+/- Engine sounds and overall audio are definitely improved but still not up to standard. Engines sound really muffled which is understandable in cockpit views but sound so wrong playing from 3rd person or watching replay.

- New menus and UI are are pretty crappy. Really prefer the clear basic menus from WRC2.

- Car setup seems to be hugely dumbed down. Really disappointed with this.

- Budget dubstep

Anyone else notice there's next to no vibration in their ps3 controllers when playing?

Wheel is broken so I can't test whether they've improved the feedback.

I really hope this game does well maybe then we'll see CM or other devs put more effort into the content of their next rally games.
Even with it's issues it's still the best rally game you're able to be use with a controller.
Really looking forward to getting my rally fix when this comes out on PC.

I've played both the F1 2012 & WRC 3 demos today on my Logitech G27 wheel (ps3)

First was F1 2012. Wheel settings & feedback felt very strange compared to 2011. Still managed to win pretty easily on the hardest difficulty available (hard). The cars didn't feel too fun to drive, but I'm sure I'd get used to it.

Next was WRC 3. It was awesome :D As it was my first ever rally drive, I figured I should ease myself in by setting everything as hard as possible. Hit two trees and finished +50s back, yet had so much fun doing it :) After fixing the wheel settings so it was perfectly normal linarity/no deadzones, I got back out there and started to improve. After a short time I had improved to the point where despite hitting the wall and spinning out, I still managed to get a 3rd place, even being in 1st by 2s after the first 4/5ths. I really don't care how realistic it is, that game is so fun, and that handling is so addicting, it's awesome. I won't bother going into detail about the handling, but with a wheel it's great. Pace-notes/graphics/sound/and everything else is really good too :)

Anyone using a wheel, make sure you go into the setting and set all deadzones to zero and all linarity to middle (normal (none)). It feels wierd but on the default settings, but on the realistic settings it feels a lot more natural :)

IMHO, WRC 3 is way better then F1 2012, and this is coming from the runner-up in GTPs F1 2011 series (OPs not up to date so don't bother checking ) I was expecting to get F1 2012 only this year, and now I'm completely convinced that WRC 3 is the game for me to get.

One thing though, why does everyone hate the menus so much? I thought they looked kind of cool and artistic and different from most games. Normally they're just menus, in this game you can see they actually put effort into the menus. And I also think the art style for the menus/road to glory looks pretty cool :) Maybe I'm completely wrong, but I think they did a good job on the menus 👍
Music isn't my style at all, but it works with the art design of the menus so no complaints from me :)

/long post, yet still not as long as that first stage in spain :p

Obviously they have gone to the effort of adding support for G27. The rev lights work.

Why can't I get my clutch/Gearbox to work? Also it's a shame it's limited to 270degrees which is a bummer.

I like others aspects though. Menus don't bother me at all.

Just had 2 minutes to try. WOW. I will get it. I play it with a DS3 though and that goes very well.

Now I really hope they can do it nicely on the Vita as well.

Both previous WRC games you could re-assign the controls of the DS3 so I doubt that function will be missing from the game when it comes out - it's only the default we have at the moment.

There never has been any vibration, at least I don't think so with these games - only a little bit when you go off track, which I always felt was a shame.

Just before stage starts there is an option to setup cars suspension and gears. Does it work in Demo because i cant change anything

Yeah I noticed there was no option tried pressing X and all I got was setup tips.

Downloaded last night and had much fun with my CSR Elite. I didn't really enjoy the first two games and was pleasantly surprised if a little suspicious to see the complimentary comments from early previews. I'm happy to say they were right! It's a good game and much better than the first two. I love the stages and the handling is really fun. I got the same feeling playing this as I did the original Colin Mcrae games back in the day. It feels like a rally game should feel. I dont actually care that it's not the greatest sim in the world because it's just so much fun. Defo a day one buy for me.
