Hi all and welcome to the modern classics club.

This is a club I’ve been wanting to organise and do since the game was announced. My sim is to try and best recreate some of my favourite modern seasons of WRC, as best as possible with the tools available.

I’ll attach a poll here to start the ball rolling but there will also be polls on the clubs discord server to try and gauge which seasons to start with. My intention is to attempt to use an honesty rule system, due to the games lack of control over cars being used, I’ll be trusting members to choose only the permitted cars to best represent the selected season.

I invite all of the GTP crew to join. This will be a long form championship based club, with lots of time to do rounds and hopefully lots of room to grow. Join the club here:

Season 1 will be the 1995 World Rally Championship:

Calendar:
1. Rallye Automobile de Monte-Carlo
2. International Swedish Rally
3. TAP Rallye de Portugal
4. Tour de Corse - Rallye de France
5. Smokefree Rally New Zealand
6. Telstra Rally Australia (Pacifico)
7. Rallye Catalunya - Costa Brava
8. Network Q RAC Rally (Chile)

Teams:
555 Subaru World Rally Team
Subaru Impreza GC 555

Toyota Castrol Team
Toyota Celica ST185 (Subaru Legacy)

R.A.S Ford
Ford Escort RS Cosworth

Team Mitsubishi Ralliart
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 3 (Mitsubishi Galant)

Please note, the Lancia Delta is prohibited from competing in this series. Use of the Lancia will result in expulsion.

And the Discord here:
Is joining the discord necessary?

Sounds like fun, I really enjoyed your little write ups and blurbs about the cars in the 2 Test GTP championships. I hope they continue here 😊👍

Welcome everyone. Season 1 will be scheduled to start within the next week or so. Spread the word and lets get some more people joining in.

The first campaign will be the 1995 World Rally Championship. Contested over 8 rounds, starting in Monte Carlo and finishing with Rally GB (Chile). Each round will be carefully setup to best replicate the conditions of the real events.

Rules for the season are as follows:
Hardcore damage will be enabled.
Surface degradation will be set to heavy.
Points will be set to flexible.
Rounds will take place over 10 days and will feature 10 stages. With a similar setup to real WRC. 3 'days' (legs) separate by long services (irrelevant currently due to the bug). with 5 stages featured in each event, run twice; A, B, C, D and E. Day 1 will go A, B, A, B. Day 2 will be C, D, E, C and Day 3 will be D, E. There may be some variation occasionally but will generally follow this format.

Important rule regarding cars:
The Lancia Delta is prohibited from competing in this 1995 campaign. I know some privately run entries used the Delta through the season but it was rare and generally outside of the top 50. Due to its very powerful nature in the Group A class in the game, it is therefore prohibited.
Anyone who selects the Delta to compete, will be excluded from the club.

The Galant will act as the Lancer Evo 3 for Mitusbishi whilst the Subaru Legacy will represent Toyota. As I intend to run a constructors championship alongside the drivers, if you choose to run the Legacy, you are effectively running as team Toyota for the championship. Toyota and their drivers were of course disqualified from 1995 for an illegal turbo, I won't be recreating this, so feel free to choose this car safe in the knowledge you'll be safe from DQ.

Thanks for the info 👍 Can you indicate how much time it will take to finish one évent. If it is about an hour, it'll be too much unfortunately for me...

I did try the quick évent with the Lancia and boy that was a complété and utter mess on my side 💩🤣

I'm anticipating events to be between 45 minutes to an hour. They will be 10 day events so there will be quite a long period of time to complete, but I do understand if it's too much, there's a lot of events going on plus the single player.

Do we choose our vehicle? Or get assigned cars? Given you mentioned there will be a manufacturers aspect, It would be preferable to have a fair spread and use of the available cars wouldn't it?

I hadn't intended to assign them, the constructors aspect being viable will rely on how many take each car, at worst it'll be a case of selecting the best 2/3 finishers for each car.

Unless of course there isn't enough (as there currently won't be), and I'll scrap the constructors idea.

Fair Enough, I like the idea of the Manufacturers being included as for people who aren't fighting for a victory or maybe make a mistake and take a hefty penalty maybe will still have something to fight for even if an overall win is out of reach.

Hey! I've never signed up to anything like this but would love a reason to play other than just messing around on my own time trials. Don't care for the modern stuff!

How does it work? I wouldn't be super interested in a Discord either but if it has to be done it is what it is.

Cheers!

It's as simple as joining the club via Racenet 😎. The club will then appear in the clubs menu on the game and you then enter from there. Currently it's just one stage as a warm-up for the 1995 season beginning, most likely next week. Each round will be 10 stages, and will last for 10 days, as it's the 1995 season, it will be 8 rounds total.

The Discord isn't mandatory, just an option, I will post the rules here, on the Discord and in the club description as well. The Discord just provides me with an extra way to spread the word and get people involved.

Key rule for the 1995 season being that the Lancia Delta is prohibited.

Oh wow that's much easier than I thought! I'm used to the days where things like this all just worked on an honour system and we sent screenshots in as proof

Brilliant. I'll join it tonight when I get home from work, can't wait!

Finally I'm in!
EA is ridiculous not letting me relink my xbox with my newer profile, so unfortunately I'm on twice. Ignore 427Motorsports - I'm tomo875 now. Literally made that when I was 11

But, can't wait!!

Championship with start on the 27th November, thanks everyone for joining in. Hopefully we can make it a lot of fun, I'll be adding some kind of role play elements to my round reports so keep an eye out for the Monte Carlo build up and car profiles coming soon.

Thank you for setting this up @MagpieRacer
Looking forward to thrashing about.

Having previously owned a base model 4wd Galant, I have no choice but to choose team RalliArt :P
Funny I saw the singular Galant and thought... Ballsy 😂
I wanted to go Legacy, but didn't want to be Toyota

Which as someone who actually owns an Impreza... sacrilege!

Sorry 😬. It was the only way I could think to incorporate Toyota. Given the lack of Legacy in 1995 and lack of Toyota in EAWRC.

Oh it's not too bad :D
Keeping the turbo spooled suits my driving style so not a terrible situation.

For the singular portugal stage, I accidentally fatfingered the legacy. It's definitely a lot more friendly with its powerband.

I'll take a temporary first place on the practice stage considering this was me at one point.

Also the stage's info says it's 88% asphalt, which it clearly isn't. :sly:
