Overall I felt like this could have went a lot better than it did, and I'm sorry to those that lost their partner and had to be re-paired. If we ever do this again, we will have sign-up ahead of time, and the races will be simple hotlaps so everyone will have a better chance of getting a run saved. Doing the race with a 10 lapper was the biggest problem most likely as some people didn't have the time or desire to run it, resulting in the DNF's. Sorry, my fault. The main goal was to get some people to talk to someone they may not have and have a little fun with it. Hopefully some of you enjoyed it.:indiff: Congrats to all drivers who managed a clean save on the 10 lapper and gutted it out until the bloody end.👍 Please post any comments or suggestions here in this thread. Later peeps.:)

Wooo! My 2 stop statergy worked to get a good fastest lap. It didn't work as well as I had hoped, but anyway..

One more thing, I don't quite understand why the people who didn't have partners, get 0 + 0 for the first two postions. What are these zeros? It's seems that everybody else got at least 120 points from this, which would of put us around the top ten, instead of around the bottom.

Go my teamate Androoos! We seem to have had the best total of fastest laps, we've obviously got the one lap dash 👍 .

Thanks for doing all of this CFM ... I imagine that you were crunching figures well into the night. Unfortunately I was one of the drivers who ended up losing a partner (I don't think I ever had one), so my diligent weekly racing and effort put forth was largely for nothing (within the context of a team event).

I appreciate everything you've done, but I won't be participating in team events in the future and right now I'm not entirely sure if it's worth participating in the WRS in general.

We get 0's because we were 'reassigned' which screwed both of us. You're my #3 teammate now. That is why we're on the bottom. I knew I'd be there because my first idiot teammate is a half-a55ed competitor in the WRS who only submits times and doesn't post ever, or reply to PM's, and my 2nd teammate said he couldn't string together 10 clean laps :boggled: But that's ok, I was screwed by having my first idiot teammate be 100% worthless.

I agree, signups will be better next time. And the 10 lap race was time-consuming, although some will argue that it wasn't. I was ready to give up with a 19:10 race until Puck pushed me and shamed me into going faster. :ouch: I would get so frustrated running 8 of the 10 laps and go off on the 9th lap. That made the event very time consuming.

Casio, we had the best average for fast laps because you turned in a hell of a fast lap time. I was trying the 2-stop strategy and threw down some 1:45's but felt that a quicker overall race time was better. In the end, it turns out it didn't mean much at all. :indiff:

Why isn't it worth it? Hey, I got screwed too, so I know how you feel. Stick with it, this week will be better! 👍👍👍👍👍

CFM,

The WRS is lots of fun and excitment by itself. I understood, from the begining, what you were trying to accomplish with this "side" event, and realized that it might be the first of it's kind and that it was going to be difficult (for you) to execute perfectly. Personally, it did give me a little more motivation to try harder, knowing that I had a partner that might be counting on me. I'm sorry for those that didn't have it go as they had wished.

Thanks alot for all of your hard work. I hope you'll try this again in the future.

I 2nd what Kolyana said about appreciating all the hours CFM had to put in to arrange this event. 👍 I think we should start passing the hat for all the work this guy does for us in this series. :sly:

Though there were admittedly some problems, for a first shot at teams, IMO I thought it went ok. :) There are no guarantees in RL racing that you will complete a race, and the same should go here don't you think?
People that didn't show or contact their partners, should have at the very least made an effort to explain after the fact if they had extenuating circumstances. It's just plain good manners people! :grumpy:

My enthusiam is admittedly biased due to the fact that it was a good experience for me personally, and in the team event. The goal of making new friends succeeded in my case, as I was fortunate enough to be paired with a new friend, Rotbarsch1979.
I for one, had a great time chatting back and forth and planning strategy, and I think my partner did also. ;) I think we learned a bit about each other and racing in GT4, (we ranted a bit) and he filled me in on some racing series in Europe that sounds awesome! 👍

PLEASE CFM. Don't give up on the idea of multi-lap races that require planning and strategy! Hotlaps are fine, but IMO get rather boring after a few hours of trying to get 2 freakin' tenths for god's sake! :D

That's my post on the team event, and now I'll shut up! :dopey:

Later,
MS

Wow, thats a surprise and a half. Didn't think that my hotlap would be that far up. Good job though Cass 👍! We made podium :D. If only we could have been a little faster, we would have been 2nd. Congrats to everyone that put up a clean race, and to the other podiums.

I for one really enjoyed the challenge of a 10 lapper. I hope we do something like this again. Even if its not teams. Really had fun working with my teammate to get both of our laps good though. Maybe people would be able to keep it together for less laps or something. I'm not trying to say it's easy, but I think alot of people gave up too quick. Even if it would have been slow, most should have been able to put up some time for the results.

I want to second or third what was said above.

CFM I hope my earlier post doesn't irk you...it wasn't directed at you in any way - it was directed at my non-teammates, mainly the first idiot I was paired with, but he probably won't even read this.

Setting this team event up was a lot of work and must have taken a lot of patience, especially dealing with me and my 2 non-teammates.

Keep up the good work, you are the MAN. 👍

This was a learning process and we learned some good things about setting up a team event. I hope we try it in the future using some of our newly gained knowledge, it will be a lot of fun! The WRS rules, no matter what anyone else says. Thanks for keeping it going, Todd.

top stuff CFM... ive been missing from the WRS arena for a month now.. hoping to get back and having a red hot go in DIV.2 next week..... i wish i had of been apart of the teams event...👍 looks like some good stuff....cyas all at the track in WRS wk.14!!

First of all:
Thanks to CFM! I really appreciate the time you put into this. I was one of those persons who really hates the 10 lap/no AI touching bit, but it helped me to improve my overall driving getting some consistency into my runs. :)
Oh yeah, and you truly succeeded in the making friends & conversations bit, as MinorSHunt mentioned above! :)

Congrats to you victory, hOt6o4bOi & gt4_0109!

And YAY us, Mr MinorShunt! Second overall. :D

havnt posted here yet,
nice job gt_0419 we got the top spot~ 👍

and good job to the rest of the racers, putting up a good effort~

Congrats to ALL!

The team event was a good experience overall, problematic, but good!

And well done to CFM for all his hard number-crunching!

@ Jump-ace

Nice result for us buddy, 7th overall, fantastic result for two 'mid-table' D2'ers
Good one Jerome!

Humph.

:grumpy:👍

I lost ma partner, and he had good reason, which is fair enough.

I liked the "second" set of results better! 👍

Cheers peeps.

Thanks for the mainly nice comments people. I've taken note of the criticsims, and I've got some better ideas for next time, if there is one.👍

I hope there is another one, I enjoyed this one...

Maybe a team event on Ice Arena, now that'd get a nice submission rate....

But seriously, I think maybe a two lap race, with 5 team mates. Making it more team like. However, each member can only use one type of racing tyre. Eg. R1,R2,R3,R4,R5....and the other members can't use that tyre.

It would make some interesting decisions about who uses which tyres. Communication might be a problem, and you'd have to make sure EVERYONE submitted.

But you could make team names, which would be very cool 👍

does this mean we could possibly have something similar when you retake the reigns todd?

From now on me and Kent are going to be alternating weeks, to cut down on the workload. It was just geting to be a bit much for me at times, with all the races, registrations, and now with me co-managing the BC5 team. I think splitting it up will be for the best all around. you guys will get two different views also on types of races, as me and Kent have a bit different taste in race selection anyway. We may still be able to do the teams thing though. It just won't be for a while.👍

damn jumputt we did pretty good, if I wouldn't have lost my good time for Suzuka we might have podiumed! sorry!!!!! but I will be your teammate again anyday.

Yes we did! My slow fastest lap didn't help much either, just so happened that my fastest total time was with my slowest single lap time....It was fun...Good luck this week!!
