Well, it happens to the best of us. I was driving home with a friend on Saturday. Rounded a blind gravel corner and saw a truck in the middle of the road (not all that unusual on gravel, but he wasn't getting over either). Swerved to the right, hit the mucky wet shoulders (been raining the last few days), overcompensated, and slid into the left-side ditch. Rolled her 2.5 times, ending up on the roof. Sucks, because we weren't going very fast, doing anything dumb - the usual stuff that people will say we were doing anyway. We'd been a lot worse off if we had been going faster, or if Subaru hadn't put that roll bar in the top of WRXs. You can see how the roof wrapped around it in a few of the photos.

Luckily, both me and my friend are perfectly fine. Just a bit sore here and there. I had a few cuts from the safety glass, but nothing major. The truck didn't stop. Probably drunk, didn't want to get involved with the cops. Here's the photos. :(

Guy in the third one is the buddy that was with me.

Ouch, that sucks...

Sorry for you, and her. :(

I hope your insurance company is forgiving, too. Are you going to fix and keep her, or you'll be shopping for a new one?

Are you going to fix the car and keep it?

That's up to them. If they total it, I'll probably get an Outback or something. Time to grow up and accept that I've got two kids (thank goodness they weren't in the car at the time).

👍 tasty. Not that awful to grow up eh?

:nervous: :nervous: :( :(

Nooo! I'm very sorry to hear about your Rex, but I'm glad to hear your okay and that your thinking of sticking with good ol' Subaru.

I suggest the new Legacy (good thinking JP) or the Forester XT.

Good to see the Rotas held up decently. I'm in the process of buying some gold Torques right now. :)

Frankly, I'm amazed. The steering rod is bent at a nasty angle, but all four tires still have air and the wheels *look* fine. I'll pull them off and get them spun sometime to check though.

They'll be for sale (real cheap) if you're interested in some winter wheels, Goomba. They're chipped to hell, but obviously they're strong.

I would throw it up on ClubWRX. I'll probably be keeping my stockers and throwing some Blizzaks on 'em. I just ordered a set of 17 x 7.5 Bronze Rota Torques with 225/45/17 Falken Azenis.

Man, F8, that really really stinks. My sympathy on the car, but of course I'm glad to hear you guys are OK. I hope everything works out with your insurance carrier.

I've been on the roof 3 times, once when I was driving - very much like your accident. Then, twice I've been a passenger: once with a woman who just didn't know how to drive, and once with a friend who was dinking around on a gravel road in his pickup.

Talked to the claims adjuster a few minutes ago. He couldn't give me anything definite (he was still looking at it), but he said that he got ~$14,500 in body alone, so she's probably totalled. We don't know the status of the engine. The oil's gone, but it could have just drained while it was upside down. There is leaking coolant, but we don't know from where. I'll let you know when I know more.

Glad to hear you and your friend aren't injured, Alt. :)

As for the car, after reading your story seem's like the WRX is a very strong car. More likely, if it was any other car, the roof would have caved in.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but there are so many ****ty drivers on the road, I was with my aunty, in the 2nd lane on the bridge. Infront of us was a 4 door civic, the semi infront of the civic gave his signal and was gonna switch into the left lane, my aunty did it before him, no problem, but out of nowhere before she switched lanes, the front civic slammed his brakes for no damn reason? My aunty managed to swirve 4 times left and right, and finally come to a stop at around 10 mph, luckily there were no cars around us, the car was a topless miata. No rollbar either, and it was on the bridge. :( :scared: If she had not swirved left and right, we would've slammed into the civic.

Sorry to hear about that mang. Just glad everyone was able to walk away. Hopefully, your insurance will replace your car.

Sorry to hear that. At least you're ok, that's what's important. Hope that the pickup-truck guy is brought to justice.

a friend of mine also flipped his wrx. he was going on the freeway and a supra wanted to race him ...so they had a roll on.... eugene (my friend) sped off, but the supra caught up very fast.....too fast... clipped the wrx's back right bumper going around 110mph...and he began to spin out...hit the wall very hard and flipped 1.5 times.. its very hard to explain... anyway, luckily the geniuses at subaru made the car very safe and nobody got seriously injured (5 people in the car!), just some minor glass cuts and bruses from being knocked around.. 👍

the insurance should cover it, tell them what happened.... and this sucks for you, its the worst that could happen when having an impreza....

Update:

Insurance company (Progressive - love them) has totalled the car. It'll pay off the loan and give us about $2100 for a down payment on something else. Total damage exceeded the $19,800 cash value.

Time to go car shopping.

I cannot believe your friend was so incredibly stupid that he tried to race with 4 other people in the car. I hope he got his license taken away for a looong time. Well, actually, I can believe it; I just don't want to.

PR, glad to hear you're coming out a little ahead, or at least even. I know you liked that car, but hopefully you'll find a suitable replacement.

Unfortunate that such a beautiful car (in a beautiful color, too) was destroyed. Good to hear that you and your freind emerged unscathed, though.

Forget the Outback, get a Legacy GT. Do you really think you need the ground clearance?

You know what? I say forget the Outback, or the Legacy. Heck, screw the STi and the Forester. I know what I'm about to say is really, really, really odd for me to say, but I have to.

Mitsubishi Evolution VIII MR.

I'm not a fan of the Evo 8. Its waaaayyy too overrated. I just don't think its smart putting factory parts with a 2.0 liter, with 19psi. Its just a regular car that performs well due to its boost, suspension and mainly...the computer... 👎

AltF8, since you've got a family, wouldn't it be best so get something larger than a car? Maybe like a Van or a SUV? Meh, I'm probably going to get flamed for saying SUV. :p

What's the price range your looking at spending on a new vehicle?

Man, that sucks. Good luck with the restoration and getting her back up to speed, hopefully once it's done it'll be good as new. It looks like a doozey, but low speed crashes/rollovers don't affect the car as much, structually, as a 35-mph head-on. I wish you well repairing it. (enen though I do prefer Evo's :D j/k)

As for the 'family' car thing, yes - I'm going to have to grow up now. I'm probably going to look hard at getting a CPO BMW 3-series. Bigger sedan, but still a little grunt.
