I finally got round to grinding my way from level 28 to 30 today and was really looking forward to the Seb Vettel challenge special event. Talk about disappointed! The car is just ridiculous and has no place in a game like GT, if I wanted to race in a vehicle that handles and behaves like that I'll load up Wipeout HD. It quite simply feels like you're playing some stupid arcade futuristic racer. I've never even liked the fact that PD include concept cars in GT because ultimately, they're not real cars or they could have been but were never made for that purpose, the X-1 however just makes this game ridiculous and in my opinion the time and the resources could have been applied to something alot more worthwhile in the game.

Don't drive it? It's a game it's not supposed to be realistic.
It seems there is a scary epidemic where people can't seperate GT5 from reality.

^this

And yes, I don't want to drive this thing (this isn't a car anymore...) anymore, you can go somewhere to the desert X1 :)

So, what would you have had Adrian Newey lend his expertise to and give advice on?
The X1 / X2010 was borne out of the same desires that created the Formula GT, only this time not limiting themselves to the form and function associated with current and former F1 cars. It might well be "ridiculous", but methinks that was very much the point from the outset...

I gotta disagree. I haven't got it yet myself but I am looking forward to messing around with it. Obviously it's not intended to be hyper realistic, but rather a fun car that you can do crazy things with. :)It's not intended to be used competitively or anything.

But that doesn't mean that all of GT5 needs to be super realistic. At some point, realism will become a chore and no fun. You gotta have something crazy in there as well.

The Pike's Peak Escudo was an overpowered beast in older GT games, once you had that thing, you basically had won most every race in the game. That doesn't mean you needed to use it, it was still there for fun if you wanted. (or Pike's Peak, which is sadly missing from GT5)

One optional car doesn't ruin an entire game's realism or immersion.

If you dont like it, dont use it.
Far as Im concerned, its a grinding car to bridge the ridiculous exp gaps.

I know it's a game, that's pretty much clear cut to anyone with a brain, however, I said it has no place in a "game" like GT. Please read before posting nonsense.

Well nothing to be honest, I'd rather PD had just used that time and money on something worthwhile such as fixing GT5's numerous, albeit small, problems. Unless he was consulting with PD about the RB6 of course.

It doesn't really factor in that way. I don't imagine PD "paid" Mr. Newey for his work, in the sense that they probably had some sort of arrangement with Red Bull (not just RB Racing).
It was speculated before that the RB6 couldn't be in the game since that would constitute an F1 game, for which the licence is, er, "unavailable" to just anybody.

The car existed before that anyway, and was more of a thought exercise ("What if?") on Kaz's part, and he just so happened to have the opportunity to consult with a leading motorsport engineer and designer through Red Bull.
I imagine the time spent on the X1 does not even begin to compare with the effort that has gone into the game since its release!

You do know you are completely disrespecting KY, PD, and Red Bull right?

My few cents:

I disagree - the X1 is realistic in that it's the logical conclusion of what a supreme fan car would be like. I therefore don't think that it's unrealistic.

I think you're the one missing the point with the X1. It isn't something PD just dreamed up one night, there has been extensive research put into the development of the (digital) car, and like the 100's of other threads like this have stated, with the technology we have today (along with more money than any of us will ever hope to have) this car COULD be made. People more knowledgeable than you or I have come up with that conclusion, and if you don't like it, don't use the car.

This. 👍 Theoretically, it is possible.

Here's the thing: Adrian Newey and the Red Bull F1 team were asked to participate in a thought exercise. *IF* the current F1 rules were tossed aside and the restrictions were lifted, what would a current F1 car look like under the new rules (or lack of rules)? This was their answer. Some 1500hp (utterly NOT unrealistic, even for a 1.5 liter turbo mill), 545kg (again, not unheard of, since they're adding ballast to current F1 cars to get them UP to minimum weights of around 600kg), MORE downforce, cleaner airflow, etc. F1 cars keep changing because the FIA keeps trying to SLOW THEM DOWN, not speed them up. In spite of such restrictions, lap times keep dropping, because engineering keeps moving ahead.

The only "unrealistic" aspect of the X2010 idea is the notion that a human could adequately pilot such a beast, or react quickly enough to control it well. I know *I* couldn't, but I'm not a real F1 driver, either...

Jesus people will ***** about anything and everything...

Kaz is not god. GT is not nor ever has been perfect. Neither are infallible... It's a GAME, not a "simulation" regardless of what the slogan is. Just play it and have fun.

Well you're right about the RB6 kind of, it couldn't be in the game if it was seen racing against another F1 car i.e the Ferrari F2010 which pretty much made any other F1 car's inclusion in GT5 a non-starter.

I just think it's pointless, I was looking forward to trying it out thinking it would be similar to either an F1 car, a Le Mans Prototype or at least the Formula GT, but it really is like playing Wipeout

No, it really is impossible. Top speed, weight and maybe acceleration are possible, but cornering speed and breaking is highly exagerated. No tirres in the world could handle such pressures through corners and no breaks could be able to stop the car so quickly. Its a fictional car and together with Formula-GT it has absolutely no place in a 'real driving simulator'.

Regardless of whether it could be made or not, it would be undrivable anyway. Unless your neck was made of steel.

Just my opinion but methinks that PD has/will have some infulunce on the design of the next RBR F1 car. That said this car is actually already 100% desingned and would probly cost as much as an F1 car to build since the designing is done.

If you read Adrian Newey's EVO Magazine interview where he talked about the X1, he did mention that while it's possible for someone to drive the car- if you've read the background on the car's design on gran-turismo.com, you'll see that the maximum G of the X1 is at the theoretical limit of what a human body can endure which is 8.25G. But he did say:

"It would be impossible to create an environment whereby the driver could survive those kind of G forces for a race distance rather than a single lap but a combination of driver training and restraints- particularly for the head and neck- mean it would be possible."

If you haven't already, read the background on the X1 and the technical specs: http://eu.gran-turismo.com/gb/news/d14918.html. Similar to the Nike Human propelled car in GT4, the X1 a concept car that's based on actual physics.
