I'm sorry but I really can't see a scientist playing video games. Especially a racing game.

Wow! What a presumption. I am sure you'll find plenty of scientist, doctors, real life racers and professionals playing gt5. Also exorcet's physics is right.

Don't need to take his or my word for it. Read it up. Weight is not a major factor in straight-line flat surface top speed for vehicle with round tires. For animals running on legs(which I suppose u could be extrapolating from) it is big factor but not applicable to most vehicle without tracks. And, yes, car magazines written for entertainment sometimes adds to the confusion as they may use speed and acceleration interchangeably.

Just reset the settings to default, there's a quick button for that on each tuning area.

EDIT: Sorry for supplying a non-scientific solution :P

There is so much wrong with this post. Just because of someone's career or education doesn't mean they can or can't do something in their off-time. 'Scientists' don't spend their lives in laboratories, you know...

And Exorcet is completely correct.

Well I'm just going by what my dad said. So sorry if I made you mad. And why don't the monster dump trucks go fast. They have No downforce and no drag and they still can't go past 32mph.

segovia
I guess it flew over most people's heads... But more to the point, what is the drag coefficient of coconuts?

Nice, monty python!

If you're referring to me, I'm not mad.

Monster trucks have enormous drag. Huge drag. They also have stability and safety to consider, so they would not be going 200 mph even if they were capable.

Drag does not only come from downforce. Drag from downforce is called induced drag, it is only one type of drag. For a monster truck, induced drag would be low, but pressure drag would be very large.

Ok wasn't talking about monster trucks reread what I said.

What's the difference between monster dump truck and monster truck? There both monster trucks maybe you should read what you wrote ltfunyun

Ok look up a monster dump truck. It's not a monster truck. It takes a latter to get to top of platform that a staircase that takes you to the drivers capartment

Oh you must be talking about either a mining truck or haul truck -we have one on display where I live. Yeah their huge, what's does it have to do with the X1?

That one dude was saying that weight has nothing to do with speed.

Yeah but Monster dump truck or mining truck depending where your from, has got to weigh in at least 300 tons empty compared to x1 which probably comes in around 900 kilos.

BTW does your dad drive one of these monster dumpers?

No grandfather did till he fell off of the top of his

Firstly, sorry for your loss.

Weight doesn't really. The drag on one of these

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebherr_T_282B

Is huge. I did a rough estimate and it came to about 10000 lbs at 40 mph. The engine produces 35000 lbs of force at that speed if it is assumed to be at peak power which may not be true. I'd guess that the speed on that vehicle is not drag limited, but structure limited instead. In other words, it's limited to 40 mph because its structure can't handle the stress of taking a bump or something at greater speeds.

Also, here is something heavy that's quite fast

Thanks.

My dad is drawing and making a x1 proto kit car. He's taking a 06 f1 and moding it

Well that's cool, but not really on topic.

Not trying to be rude, it's just that that post came out of left field haha.

Maybe you could make a thread about it in the auto section.

I don't think its going to work lol. He's strapping a few mini jet engines to it. Lol

Has anyone checked if a-spec auto grinding works since the update? My brother says its impossible with the new physics, but I don't know.

It's a simple matter of weight ratios. A 5 ounce bird can not carry a 1 pound coconut.

I've had this happen to me last night. You likely had the downforce at max (150/200), just reduce that and you should be fine.

Yeah;
If you want 300mph, then set your downforce to 50/50.
The handling is slightly worse, but the acceleration is insane w/o the downforce:D
