X1 - Impossible to drive at Le Mans straight ?

The only thing that partly works is what Dotini said, sitting very close to the wheel and bracing your elbows on your knees. That way you get a firm enough stance so the wheel doesn't have any room to start dancing. But again, that's not a position you would want to drive a 2 hour race in, or even a 10 minute one. This game is supposed to be fun, not pain and agony forcing you to hunch down in your chair like a frog. 👎

Exactly. If this car is the perfect design, why do we have to disable game features (force feedback) or bend over backwards just to use it? It doesn't make sense. And it's not just when you push it. Just 200mph will get it to start fighting you. Other cars handle fine at higher speeds.

The problem is that most people dont even know how to setup, calibrate, adjust and use their 500$ steering wheel properly.

Do enlighten us. The calibrating and adjusting possibilities of the DFGT and other wheels are very limited in the GT5 settings.

The X1 is pretty messed but its not that bad, turn down the FFB a bit if not all the way because it isnt even in any way realistic feeling at all especially when it tries to yank your hands in that car.

You can plug the Logitech wheels into a computer and calibrate them.

PC calibration doesn't have anything to do. The PS3 recalibrates the wheel when starting the game and it's a fixed calibration for everyone.

The linearity I calibrated on the computer definately took effect on the PS3. I guess its true you cant use the ps3 to play with it though, and the FFB is pretty stupid for the X1 for whatever reason.

So you're saying the PS3 won't erase the calibration you do on the PC?

This is a wheel/FFB issue. I've noticed it in other games. The opposing FFB motors fail to neutralise each other in an effective enough way. When you steer a bit, the motor kicks in and tries to throw the wheel the other way. If you don't hold it tight enough, the wheel does indeed kick beyond the midpoint and the other motor kicks in, and it goes into a cycle.

The X2010 becomes much more shifty at higher speeds as it puts on miles. Mine was like that. Either chasis Refurbishment or a new one is the only option after a few thousand miles of racing.

I've tried comparing a totally fresh X1 with 0 miles, and one with 500 km on it. Also one with 4000 km. No difference at all. After about 10,000 km it does start to show its age and it gets even worse.

I did the x1 challenge and and had no problems with a shakye wheel. Then I took the one the one that I won to high speed ring for a high speed blast, put downforce on almost full and my g25 would vibrate on the straightaway at about 230 onwards and I thought it was gonna break. I turned off active steering and it stopped.

Seriously, it's just impossible to keep this car in straight line at Mulsanne !!!!!

My G27 do this >> <<< >>>> <<<<< > >>>>>

I need to use my knee to hold the car on the Mulsanne Straight !
And it still do it << >>> ....

HELP !!

Same Thing Here with my dfgt, I fight with the steering wheel just to keep it on the road, Try turning the sensitivity down, it helped for me. Or you could switch controllers when you get to the straights.

Unplug power supply and throw that bad boy round corners. He he.

I've also got the G27, and the same problem. Mine also goes like ><><><><><><>>><<<<>>>>><<< and then >>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<

My g27 died on me while playing gt5(under warranty so i'll be getting a new one)
Meanwhile i bought a t500rs and when driving a x2010 in a straight line, you can feel the ffb but it's no way as shaky as the g27.I had my g27 for a while now and played a lot of diffrent racing games with it ,but when driving an x2010 the ffb on the g27 is working overtime.

Wait till you take the X2010 on Le Sarthe with no Chicanes :dunce:

I thought B-Spec Bob had climbed inside my DFGT and was hitting the inside of it with a Clubhammer on the Main Straight

Changed FF down to 1 , that helped a bit . Not tried Active Steering yet and theres no way i'm bumping up the Areo to Max I can't imagine how much the Wheel would jump about then :nervous:

The X1 is always going to be bad for this issue.

It generates a HUGE amount of downforce, so the wheels are pressed hard into every little bump they can find. There's most of the problem

It does the same for the f10. I used the f2007 and it has no problem but the F10 bounces around like crazy. It's just something to do with the cars suspension tuning I suspect and like someone mentioned before it's not designed to take bumps and bashes like that.

If you say "nah, that's not that bad" you surely can't have tried the G27. There's absolutely no way that this is how it's supposed to behave (not only Le Mans, I don't even dare the Vettel challenge because I'm wondering whether the wheel or my wrists will go first). Turning down FFB does absolutely nothing.

Hmm, Sounds strange. You might want to tweak out your force feed back settings, it might affect the performance of your wheel impressively under rumble strips

Try lowering the downforce on the front.

If that doesn't help, unplug the power cord from the wheel...might feel strange at first but it won't destroy your wrists.

The mulsanne is the only place I can drive it. Put me in an x1 on a track with grass around it and the x1 might as well be a WRX car. Yet again I'm using a ds3 so it's alot harder.

Suspension tuning? I suggest smaller amount of toe front & rear, and softer settings in damper (6/6) and stabilizer (5/5)

I had this problem, and toe-in solved it.

or just use the muscles in your arms to keep the steering wheel straight ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

It's a small arm workout lol :dopey:

And what did you do with the one with 10,000 km?

I mean, if my X1 gets too many miles and I have to buy the chassis refurbishment, will it be like new again?
