Every thime I try and talk to a mate about the X2010. When saying it, it just doesn't sound right.

Would you like it to be called the X1 again?

This is not a moan. Just curious to wat you think.

No ones stopping you from saying X1.

I think that whatever you want to call it is fine. People know what you mean if you say X1 so there really shouldn't be any need to cause a fuss over it.

What, nobody has posted a picture of the BMW X1 yet?

I do believe that PD cannot use the name X1 as it is copyrighted to something else......

X-1. Two syllables.
X-20-10. Three syllables.

It's really not a mouthful.

Maybe they changed it because they want to release a diffent model of it each year.

X2010 is actually 4 or 6 syllables. (X - twen - ty - ten. or X - two- thou - sand - and - ten) Also, the name is most likely copyrighted, as mentioned above. ^^

I think they changed it because X1 sounded too generic. X2010 sounds slightly less generic but it makes the car already sound old because it's 2011 now. :dunce: They should've named it properly instead of taking inspiration from BMW.

Either way, people who know GT know that the X1 and X2010 are the same thing anyway. Just say X1 if you find it easier.

You say X1, I think of:

BMW X1

Which is hideous..... lol

Wait, they changed it back from X1 to X2010?

X2010->X1->X2010.

When was this?

X2011 anyone?
EDIT: X1-> X2010 ->XPoS

X2010 is four syllables:

It always made sense to me that the inspiration for X1 was F1 (as in Formula 1 racing), and not BMW. X is associated with "extreme" or "experimental", such as the X planes. Hence, the extreme version of F1 would be X1. Why it would be named after a truck, I don't know.

It doesn't matter what I call it...It still makes a bee line for the horizon when ever I see one...It's just a gearheads "wet dream". I have no use for such a ridiculous concept.
Oh,and I believe the original X-1 was a jet airplane flown by Chuck Yeager to smash the sound barrier back in 1947...He named it "Glamorous Glennis" after his wife.

The X-1 was a rocket plane.

There was four "X1s" before the name change to X2010.

This, the BMW X1:

This, the Sony Xperia X1:

This, the Bell X1, the first aircraft to break the sound barrier:

And the one we all know, GT's X1 (Now X2010)

You know, at doesn't bother me what it's called.

Hi, There are lots of "X1's" but there is only one Red Bull X1 and it looks like we'll all get one FREE when Vettell wins the F1 World Championship on Oct. 9th. in Japan. I like "RB X10" better than either name.

Was it the X1 '10 Before they changed it or did it ever have a year?

I like the X1 more but I'm used to X2010 now.

I don't care, I say X1 more but will say both. The name change will make more sense if there is an X2011 DLC or X20xx in future versions of the game.

"X1" is the original name and more convenient, both in saying it and in typing it, but it's also wrong. The only correct name is "X2010", based simply on the fact that the name was officially changed to "X2010". It's "the car formerly known as 'X1'." It's kind of like how there's no such thing as a Brontosaurus, since the name was mistakenly given to another specimen of the previously-named Apatosaurus, and upon realizing that they were the same creature the name "Brontosaurus" was dropped in favor of the name that was given first, except in the case of the X2010 it isn't the name that was given first but rather the final official name and the older is simply defunct.

Sure, we know what you mean by "X1", but it's still the wrong name.

PS... What a great site this is!!!...GT5, Codemasters F1, Forza...Speed TV...lots of good stuff... Thanks guys and girls.

I don't care too much in either way it's dubbed unless people don't cause bothers for not understanding what the other referred to...

The term "X1" is easier to say(or tweet) it having two syllables which is the most suitable(probably two or three) as a ring of a word, phrases with no less than 4 syllables are besically too long to pronounce, but preferable for written words instead.

Hi, The Red Bull X1 (now aka X2010) never had a year of production in the title, that's why they changed it. IMO it should have been called "RB X10" in the first place. This year we could have had a "RB X11" to play with or a "RB X12" in time for Christmas...maybe??
P.S. We all get a FREE "RB X10" (X1/X2010.. whatever) when Seb' Vettell wins the F1 World Chapionship on Oct. 9th (Japan) anyway, so don't buy one!! (just saved someone 20Mil)... Have fun.
