Hey guys,

I've searched for this but i couldn't find anything so if there is already a thread about this feel free to post it and close this one.

Descripion of what happened:

X2010
B-spec
24h Le Mans
Cockpit View
Rain
Night

When i was watching this i first noticed that the rain only appear in the front part of the glass of the cockpit.
Then i start to notice some flashes in the back part of the glass. My first tought was: lightnings, but then i watched with more attention and it was in fact rain, it was the water being pushed back from the front of the glass to the back.
But it appears that the ps3 is incapable of process the whole thing (considering that the game programing is correct) so part of the rain animation is presented with separated frames, like flashes. I confirmed that it wasn't lightnings when i changed the camera.

I was wondering if anyone noticed this or if it is only my GT5/PS3 that has this issue?

I understand what you mean, I had it happen to me, in the cockpit it looks like lightning but when you change to an outside view its sunny. PD will probally get round to patching it eventually.

Explain a little more precisely.
I don't understand..

I will give it a try.

You know the x2010 has a large glass covering the cockpit right? (due to aerodinamics)

When raining the water should be pulled back from the front part of the glass to the end part of the glass (due to speed). For example when you are driving in the highway and it is raining you observe that the water on your windshield fight the gravity force and tend to climb it because of the wind generated by your current speed.

With this in mind try runing the x2010 in a raining track. Try to run it at night because the contrast between the sky and the water his larger and you notice what i mean more easily.

Now change it to cockpit view. Now that you are inside the car you should see the water being pulled back all the way through your cockpit windshield. But that doesn't happen. You see that the animation at the front of the windshield works properly, but the animation above your pilot head doesn't. It appear in flashes (only some frames) and it seems like lightnings (not easy to detect if you aren't looking for it), but in fact is a «n animation glitch. IMHO i think the ps3 can't handle the animation, but it could be a programing error. I was trying to find if any of you have the same problem or if its just me.

Thanks ;)

I experienced the same thing too. At the Mulsanne Straight with the following factors, the glass does flash rapidly at the driver's outside vision, somewhere around the middle of the glass. Probably because the rendering is too fast to calculate for the PS3 can handle.

I just started a N'Ring race in the rain in the x2010 (B-Spec), and just because I love that cockpit view in the x2010, I purposefully continued, with this thread in mind. The described effect also happens there very, very badly. It even seems to "skip" or display kind of jerkily, indicating something could be amiss with the graphics processing. Very disturbing.

I'd suggest that you don't use that view for rainy races just in case it is creating extranneous graphics stress on the system. I surely won't now that I've seen it first-hand!

As the old addage goes, it's better to be safe than to be sorry!

Now i get it.
It's most likely a programming issue not your ps3 because a lot of people have this problem. Also, the ps3 performance is very fast and games still do not use the full potential of it for reasons unknown.
It may take some time for PD to fix it if they ever will fix it because we know how PD is don't we...

Also if you think it could be due to a load on your ps3, try using GT5 in 480P if your already not and see if it still happens because 480p wastes way less resources then full HD at 1080P.

I will give it a try when i get home in a few days ;)
