I remember from when I first started playing Gran Turismo (GT3), the f1 car was always the best car to have. It could outrun, outcorner, and outbrake any of the other cars. It was so fun to drive, even with the DS2. Now, in GT5, the top car is the X2010; sure, it can beat any of the other cars, but my problem with it is that it is just not fun to drive, even if you have the wheel. It is too fast, too twitchy. The pace at which you have to input steering, throttle, and brake is too fast. It seems you have to work forever on a specific track to get a decent line out of the car. The f1, on the other hand, is a perfect match with the controller and the driver. Its pace is not too fast, and it seems that it is always following the right line. Does anyone think the same way I do?

I know what you're getting at regarding the X2010 but i've never been a fan of the FGT (not F1 car by the way!), something about it just never clicked with me. The F1 Ferraris however, now they are good! As for the X2010, yeah it's a bugger to get a decent and consistent driving line with it but i do find it enjoyable - enjoyable in a challenging way where as with the FGT i find it plain annoying.

I find the Red Bull X2010 to be very fun to drive with my DS3.

The X2010 makes it as a successful troll car...

I only use my X2010 for grinding and B-Spec races. Nothing else. I prefer the FGT for actually driving, but of all F1 cars I'd pick the F2007.

The thing is that the X2010 has simulated downforce.. basically:
(Wiki: ) The Red Bull X2010 '10 (originally named Red Bull X1) is a fictional Prototype car featured in Gran Turismo 5. The prototype vehicle was made to answer Kazunori Yamauchi's question if: "If you built the fastest racing car on land, one that throws aside all rules and regulations, what would that car look like, how would it perform, and how would it feel to drive?".

the answer is really effing fast and twitchy lol.. it would be really expensive to keep having to replace your driver and car too irl. instant death:skip to 1:40ish

I'm kind of pissed off that it's in the game really...... because one doesn't exist that can actually produce enough downforce to keep it on the track. I also think there should be an option to simulate / provide a model of how the car actually behaves as it exists today. That would be more challenging and rewarding to drive..

I would choose the poll option "I would rather have 1000 more premium cars than this piece of crap"

X1 is great, it just adds to the diverse racing classes GT has to offer, X1, F1, Group C, LMP, GT, Super GT, NASCAR, Touring Car, Road car...

The X1 was the one that was the hardest to learn to drive though, so I definitely think it was a worthwhile addition.

Looks like poor choice of downforce settings.

^ not my vid so *shrug* it's just an example though, would you really get into that car? :\ and also the downforce is not even possible in reality yet! so........ ugh okay basically get your x2010 and try to drive it with really low downforce settings and that's how it would be irl.. that's all I'm saying.

Which option should I pick?

The X2010 was fun to drive.
The Vettel events really made me work hard for that Carbon prototype.

The FGT was fun to drive.
The Formula GT Championship was (too?) long, but very enjoyable.

Since I finished A-spec I haven't used the X2010, nor the FGT, for anything.
I don't want my time trial boards to fill up with these fast cars...

Conclusion (taken in mind the fun I had with both): it's going to be the final option:
"The X2010 is a good addition to the game".

Stock the FGT is faster to 100mph than an X2010. I've tested it many times. Of course after that it's no contest.

The car wouldn't go anywhere as it is today as it's a model:crazy:

The car itself is do-able, but the effort and money involved would be huge. Adrian Newey is the designer, and he knows too much about aerodynamics to make it all up.

Same, I use the X2010 only for BSpec now, and the FGT gathers dust in my garage.
Both cars are extremly fast and don't exist in real life, they're too fast and I don't enjoy driving them.
FGT was more useful in ASpec, X2010 is more useful in BSpec.
I like X2010, it's just it's too fast and I don't have the reflexes needed to tame it (using sixaxis) so it's not enjoyable, the FGT is somewhat more enjoyable to drive in my oppinion, but still not enjoyable enough for me to drive it.

And yet I bought 3 more FGT's in different colours
lol

I'll get them all...eventually.
I'll play GT5 'till I die.

I wouldn't mind driving it. As for the downforce, what is it? All GT gives us is random unitless numbers. The X1 actually makes the same downforce as the F1 cars from the wings. The fan downforce can only be guessed at, but if something like that were built, the downforce could potntially be massive.

Air pressure is divided between dynamic and static. The dynamic pressure that the X1 would see would be very high since it's so fast, and harnessing this pressure on the upper surface in combination with a large low pressure area underneath would easily allow for downforce numbers far beyond modern F1 cars.

The shape of the X1 seems more focused on low drag than high downfroce, but I'm not going to go in extreme detail. Like most cars, the driver area is a lifting surface because it's convex and doesn't have a large slope along its length. The wheel fairings however (front in particular) would see some stagnation, increasing the pressure on their surface, and thus pushing the car into the ground. The trailing edge of the front wheel fairing is not curved very much so there won't be a pressure gadient there. The fair body forms a ducktail spoiler, and of course the car is supplied with front and rear wings, canards, and venturi based undertray parts where ever the fan isn't present. There is also a bit of a horizontal stabilizer (like on the F10) for high speed stability, I don't think GT5 accurate models these devices though.

The X2010 is an awful design. Wasted resources. The FGT, is a regular F1-type car.

And better for it.

I want a 20 mile straight and a Thrust SSC in the game. FASTER!!!

Would rather have a wider variety of cars, even if this includes fictional cars, than more Skylines, Evos, Subarus etc

I have mixed feelings with the X2010..

I really like the challenge, it's the only real challenge in the game.

I really hate the challenge, it's a real challenge.

But gold it will be!

I like the design of the FGT better than the X2010 as well. Something about the sleek, arrow straight design of the X2010 makes it seem like it would be more of a straight line top speed car than a circuit racer. The wider-appearing design of the FGT looks more versatile, hinting at a seemingly better-cornering car.

The X2010 as mentioned by someone else, is Kaz's dream of what the worlds quickest(fastest) unrestricted race car would look like, and giving people the expierence to see how this car would not only look like, but how it would handle, the perfect fantasy race car.

This is one of the greatest additions to the game since the citroen GT, and i thank Kaz for giving people the opportunity to race the fastest racer ever realised. Also the thrill of being able to go flat out around tokyo without having to hit the walls, is breath taking.

I'm almost sure that the X1 is wider. It's also got a vacuum under it.

Biggest difference between X1 and F1 is that the X1 has a closed cockpit and wheels to spare it from the F1's terrible drag. Other than that and the vacuum, they're pretty similar.
