I've got a weird centering problem with my XB360 wireless wheel. It keeps wondering about 10 degrees off center to the right. If i pull it in a direction to correct it, it will slowly center itself back. But it then will always wander back off center. It's like it forgets where the center point is, then remembers and fixes it self constantly.

I read some threads about taking it apart, checking to see if the centering dial is where its suppose to be, then lifting the large wheel gear until it's right.

I've done that, but it still get's confused where center is. If it was stuck in one spot all the time I think it would be an easy fix...but it's the part where it keeps correcting itself that has me perplexed as to how to fix it.

Anyone else experience this?

I assume you are using this with Forza? Any chance the deadzone settings have anything to do with it?

That happens to me, and I have peprsonally opened it up to fix it, but it's that when you turn it one way it becomes slightly cocked 10 degrees, then when you turn it the opposite way, it, slowly moves itself back. While playing Forza 3 I've never found this to be a problem and usually always remains centered, I think it may just be during non-racing sessions.

Exactly what happens. Its not really effecting gameplay but urks me still.

Well I took apart the wheel today to have another look. Played around with repositioning for a while, but it keep creeping crooked then recentering as always.

Then I decided to take a closer look at the centering censor.

I took the small circuit board out, which had a slot cut in it for the "D" shaped plastic rod. I noticed that the slot on the circuit board had a lot of play in it. That's why the wheel constantly loses center, then recorrects itself. I simply wrapped the white "D" rod with a single layer of scotch tape to thicken it hoping to eliminate play...then slid the circuit board back over it. Bingo. No more wheel loosing it's center.
