Finished Guys and Dolls last night.

The play at Chanhassen was so much better than the movie. In the movie, everything feels cold, I never really care about any of the characters. In the play, it's a lot more organic and the comedy hit harder, which seems to fall flat in the movie.

I was talking to a new coworker yesterday about movies and he mentioned he bought a movie 15 years ago but hasn't unwrapped it because he needs to find the right person to subject it to with him.

So I started watching it last night.

And I love the juxtaposition of going from the wholesome Guys and Dolls to... this.

This is free to watch on X right now (legally on the director's own X account), until 10am June 27th EST. Link below...

PS: he's doing this because the film has been effectively "banned" in many places, as they have refused to give it a rating, so it cannot be shown.

When Marnie Was There - Studio Ghibli (2014)

Watched this last night and wasn't quite prepared for the emotional bludgeoning it deals out - I was a blubbering mess by the end of it. It's brilliant but a bit creepy and not exactly a feelgood movie for the weekend, but it is beautifully made and a very moving story.
