XBox Live - Car tokens, DLC downloading, etc...

Does anyone know whether you can buy and use car tokens, download car packs (dlc), or receive gift cars without having an XBox Live Gold account?

Ok, well at least I can buy and use car tokens in my secondary account then.

the only way to 'gift' credits is to buy a car from the auction house, requiring XBL

I Don't think you can receive gifted cars though?

I know it's been a while, but rather than starting a new thread, can anyone confirm or deny this? In order to gift cars, and to receive gifted cars, do you need a Gold membership?

Edit: I guess that's a yes. Figured you don't need friends in order to try and gift a car, and yes, it says it does require a Gold membership. I've equally received a nice car from Turn 10, and yes, trying to receive it I get an error, Gold membership is required. I guess there goes my free car, together with my ability to even consider this whole gifting thing.
