XBOX LIVE or xbox.com having major issues again

Having the same exact problem again right now. 8:30 PM EST. Cant even get into a party and cant send any messages. It wont even work from xbox.com. Something with the dashboard for sure.
I just ran an internet speed test and I am at 29mbps down and 4.8mbps up. So its not my connection.

I can confirm it is for sure the dashboard or the dashboard beta combined with xboxlive.

There was about a 2 hour window where nothing was working. It was even confirmed by xboxlive and Major Nelson that they were having issues. As I showed in post #6.
This is a similar problem to what happened in 2007 when Halo 3 was released. The servers couldnt handle the traffic and had problems for several months. Wasnt finally worked out until early 2008. Then Microsoft gave us Undertow as a free game for the inconvenience. Gee thanks. :indiff:


With that said, xbox.com is down today. lol I was going to queue the new Skyrim DLC. Hopefully it will be ready by tonight.

I noticed today that xbox.com seems to be loading slower and slower. Not usually a good sign.

I just checked the link in the first thread and sure enough. Something is going on again.

I think Xbox should be Fbox, Instead of eXperiancingBOX, should be FailBox, Ever since ps3 had its problems it has been pretty stable now xbox, Hmm...
 
Played a few hours on Forza today, and didn't have any problems whatsoever.

Actually, most of the times I play, my Xbox tends to freeze after about 1 hour (not overheating because its cool all the time), but now I had no problem playing for several hours. So I take it as a good sign. :)

Well at least xboxlive has never been hacked and down for what 6 months like the PS3 online experience? I dont think you really want to go there do you?
Xbox has hiccups now and then but it will never be the disaster of the PS3 online. Sure as heck wont be down for 6+ months because of being hacked. :sly:

Anyway it looks like xbox.com is having issues. I have a feeling that when Halo 4 comes out we might see a flashback of when Halo 3 came out. I am expecting some major online issues in the near future. HOPEFULLY its just because of the current dashboard beta.

If you repeat 6 months, then I guess it was not being a jerk in the first place but that you actually think that's what it was.

Also with my future predicting skills I can confidently say that I will never ever crash my car becasuse I'm such a great driver.

Just to let you know the initial hack was two weeks before the shut down of PSN. The reason PSN was shut down was to re-due their security. Sony turned the service down because of all the supposed personal information that was missing. Not sure on this but because of the government getting involved with the hack and the government wanting to catch Anonymous was probably the reason why sony kept the service off for so long. I mean anonymous was pretty much classified as a cyber terrorist group for what they did before and after Sony hack

Xbox live was down over 2 weeks during christmas a few years ago. The PSN wasn't down much longer then that. I do though think PSN sucks compared to xbox live. It's probably been over a year since I've used PSN for anything.

The PSN was down MUCH MUCH longer than 2 weeks. It was months. Not even sure why you brought up PSN in this thread.

Anyway, Live is fine again but xbox.com has been having issues.

Yeah hahaha it was way longer than 2 weeks. And a few of my friends (about 30) wanted me to ask what is going on with xbox live? Because they are quite frankly done with it acting up when they are paying for it. They are about to get rid of their XBOXes if it isn't fixed soon
 
Xboxlive is working fine now. (you can even click the status update in the first post to see that) Just the website xbox.com is having issues.

PSN went down on april 20th and started back on may 15th. That's only a week or possibly 2 weeks longer depending on where you lived when your service came back, compared to the big xbox live shutdown after I think it was modern warfare 2 released.

The reason I brought up the PSN was because you said it was down for 6 months which wasn't even close to the case. As a whole I think xbox live is much, much better, but saying the PSN was down for 6 months or even months is a really big exaggeration. It was only, at the maximum down a few weeks longer then the big xbox live outage.

I do though constantly have trouble with xbox.com and their iphone app. They are both as slow as can be. Most of the time I can't even load the xbox.com home page on my computer. I'm surprised they never have gotten it running better then they have considering how well xbox live works.

Same here. In fact I didnt even know PSN was down until I read about it on the forums. Hopefully the xbox.com problems are just because of the dashboard update. I just hope there are not major issues when Halo 4 / Black Ops comes out.
 
I feel as if I'm the only person who did not run into the big xbox live shutdown that bevo is talking about. The only time I could not get on Xbox live was once for a few hours then it worked fine and Microsoft game some games for free.

I have been an xboxlive gold member since before Halo 2. Thats about 7 or 8+ years and the reason you did not run into his problem was because it never happened as bad as he made it sound. The problem he is talking about happened the weekend after Halo 3 was released (2007). COD4 also came out that year. The servers could not handle the load that year so doing anything on xboxlive for a couple weeks was a pain. It was never 100% down for 2 weeks but it was not stable for a while after Halo 3 / COD4 released, thats for sure. Its why we eventuallly got the game Undertow for free.

Christmas can sometimes be unstable too. But the last couple years it has been decent. I just dont want a flashback of 2007.

Never knew, than again the Christmas of 2007 I was playing Madden offline. I got CoD 4 March of 2008 so I never knew why people keep talking about it as if it was similar or worse then the PSN issue.
 
Yeah the end of 2007 was a bad year for xboxlive but at least it wasnt a 100% hack, shutdown like PSN. You could still get on live and still get into parties but it was unstable. When PSN went down it was 100% down. Big difference.
 
Twas the night before Christmas..,,,,.......

Ended up with an XBL game, undertow I believe.
For inconvenience. Not sure if we had an extra month added too.
