To get the most for your money you would need to build it. There are some decent options for prebuilt but it's gonna cost you a little more. I'm sure you could probably get a 600$ PC together that would do alot better then you think it would. Building them is not hard at all either. There are plenty of youtube videos and forum devoted to PC gaming and building. It's all pretty much color coated or labled now so anyone can put one together.

There have been many PC build threads is here about trying to get one together cheap. Check out the computer sub section and look at some of those threads and you can see what it would cost you.

You could probably do an AMD system that would be around the 500-600$ mark that would get you playing any game out there. It wouldn't be running the newest games at the highest settings but it would run them well and look better then any console games out there. Once you play a game at actual 1080p it's hard to go back and play console games. It almost hurts your eyes to try and make them focus on them.

Maybe go look at overclock.net at some of their build threads. They will havethreads already made for every price range there is.

You figure 600$ for the PC. If you already have an older PC with a decent power supply, case, hardrive, keyboard and all that this could be possibly even cheaper. It just depends on what you could recycle from the old computer.
250 for a G25
500$ shipped for an obutto ozone and you would be in there.
Pc gaming doesn't have to cost a fortune. It's only like that if you need the latest and greatest hardware. With black friday coming up I bet there will be some killer deals on motherboard and CPU combos as well as some decent graphics card prices.

Like I said earlier don't be afraid to build your own. It really isn't that hard. Everything is labled and really easy to get into place. The only thing to worry at all about it putting the CPU into the motherboard, but as long as you are carefull and don't force anything you would be fine.

Thanks for the post
I have a case with power supply, I just don't know what mother board and CPU and video card, I have built a pc before, now you got me thinking,
Thanks

Well in terms of the best of the best PC is the best if you have stacks of money it can use almost any steering wheels and it's better. Like in some games for the PS3 and Xbox and PC sometimes PC gets better tune up options. But if you really want to get a console not just for racing games or things like that it's better to get a console IMO and if you can't buy a good PC that can play sims like me i'd settle with a console but that's my opinion it's up to you to choose

I think I would weather spend my money on a better wheel and pedals and a nice cockpit and use a ps3 for awhile and then build a good pc later,

Xbox = Pay to play online
PS3 = Free to Play online

What wheel and cockpit are you wanting to get? I would much rather play PC sims on a DFGT connected to a computer stand and sitting in a lawn chair then console games on any wheel, pedals and cockpit made:) If you haven't tried the PC sims, they really are that much better then the console games. It's like going from a PS2 to a PS3. Don't get me wrong I loved my fanatec wheel and consoles for a few years. Then I built the PC though and my PS3 became just a bluray player, and the 360 is only used for playing with friends who don't have PCs.
Another good point in not buying a console now is that you can invest that money in a PC and now and play great games on it, and then buy a console later when the next generation comes out.

I'll leave the PC thing alone now. I can't stress enough though how much better the PC sims really are. They are worlds apart.

You can though get a console really cheap now, so if that will save you enough to get your setup going then that is the way to go. Either way PC or console you will have a blast racing with a good wheel and pedals.

They're both good systems; I have both. PS3's main benefits are that the online play is free, and it can play Blu-Ray discs. However, the 360 probably has better games overall. Really, most AAA titles (exclusives like Halo notwithstanding) are on both consoles, like Battlefield and CoD and so on, so you'll be fine either way.

The last time I agreed with a statement more than this... Something important and profound happened. Too lazy to finish my own jokes these days. But seriously, buying an expensive wheel and and cockpit for a console game is kind of like spending £1,000 on a chrome paint job for your Vauxhall Nova. Much better to build even a relatively basic PC for older sims like rFactor and RBR, they're still better than anything you can buy for either console. However if you're unwilling to consider a PC, GT5 is a decent choice. I haven't played Forza 4 so I can't comment but GT5 would keep you busy for a while.

If you want a Console then get a PS3. PS3 is a lot cheaper in the long run compared to Xbox. I have both and I do play my Xbox a lot more then my PS3 (playing with friends) but that free online helps a lot. Also, I personally find Xbox Live better then PSN but you get what you pay for, even though it is expensive. Then you add the lack of hardware support and you are now forced to buy Fanatec, even if you want a Logitech Wheel (The XCM F1 converter will work but you lose Force Feedback).

If you are looking for realism build a PC. You can probably build yourself a nice cheap PC that will be miles better then a console. You may not be able to get Project CARS or iRacing yet but you should try rFactor and Richard Burns Rally.

He mention only racing games so ps3 is far more better than Xbox in every way. Once you pay more for xbox, you would have to pay more for wheel and expenses are not stopped there. You would have to pay for on line play. So you have three pros on PS3 side and three cons against Xbox.

PS3:

better racing games
more racing games
more wheels to choose from
free on line play
better system and graphic
cheaper console and cheaper games

No. That's one con (with a qualifier) against the 360 and two draws. He doesn't have a wheel yet as he pointed out multiple times, so that's a moot point. And both systems have pretty much the same racing game selection, so that's hardly "far better than XBox in every way."

The other points are just opinion so I won't comment on those but this one is just factually wrong.

For me FM4 and RacePro actual tip it in favour of the 360 for that one.

I have both and personally prefer the PS3.

All down to preference.

I prefer PS3.
It's more powerfull and it's free to play online.
I also think that the PS3 has better force feedback wheels

My preference is the PS3, I think it's better in almost every aspect, but you like racing games?
Xbox is so much better for that in my opinion. yeah it basically only has Forza but that's so fun and addicting. there's also the new Forza Horizon which supposed to be even better!

Thanks still undecided ,

Don't forget to include large wheel selection for ps3 and also free on-line play. Xbox does not have those, but I've already pointed that out.

Anyway it's your problem now :)

I wouldn't say each console has the same racing game selection. The best 2 for the PS3 is Gt5 and ferarri challenge, and neither of them are on the 360, and the best 2 for the xbox are probaly forza and race pro, which are not on the PS3. They both do share shift and dirt, but after that there really are not any "sims" left.
If I had to choose based on racing games I would choose Forza. I don't know why but I played it alot more then GT5. The premium cars of GT5 ruined that game for me. I only want to play in cockpit view and it seemed more often then not I wasn't using a premium car.
I also liked shift better on the 360. It ran alot smoother then the PS3 version.
