Xbox prices.

Hey yall. Well I think I am gonna buy an Xbox after christmas, some of the games look awesome and the graphics are just incredible.

I was wondering if you guys think any stores will have the price reduced a bit for boxing day? Or do they do stuff like that with consoles?
 
Yeah, don't expect it to drop again until at least next fall. But I don't even expect it at that time. Unlike the PS and PS2, the XBox can't be reduced into a smaller manufacturing processes based on its architecture, so the manufacturing cost will never come down much.

besides, the xbox 2/xenon/xbox next/sexxxbox will be out by then.
 
Why would they release a new console when the current one is still selling games? That makes no practical business sense.

nobody said it made sense, it's just what the majority of speculation points to. We'll see next month.
 
Well, let me put it to you this way. People crave good graphics. Remember back when the ps1 was out? Nobody could wait for the ps2. Sony made a strong buisness move and released it a whole year before the xbox came out. Everyone bought it for the amazing graphics, a giant leap in gaming. Now, microsoft is doing the same thing, releasing the *next gen* console early for everyone, in hopes that everybody will get it instead of waiting another year possibly 2 years for the ps3. That way, by the time the ps3 came out they could drop the prices of the xbox 2 and more people would buy the xbox 2 if it got good reviews. So, by the time the ps3 comes out, the xbox 2 will be around $220 whilst the ps3 will be around 350-300 range. I would seriously buy an xbox 2, even if the ps3 was better. It makes sense to me. Maybe i'm totally wrong about everything. I'm open to all flames, got my suit ready.

Do you guys rec I buy an Xbox? Becuase I played Halo 2 and it was damn amazing!! But I hear that the new xbox is comming out at the end of the year? What do yall think?

Ok, now I am wondering is it worth getting an xbox?? Becuase isnt the the next xbox comming out this year? If i bought one now would I still get lots of play out of it before its out of date?
 
Has it been announced if the Xbox2 will play the current games - I thought I saw something that said it wouldn't. Need to know as i have a dodgy CD drive and will try to hold out for the next one rather than buy a new current model.

Nothing has been officily announced about the XBox 2 except that IBM is working on a CPU for it and ATI is working on the graphis chip for it. Everyone expects a big announcment from Bill on January 5th at CES in Las Vegas.

And get a XBox now, its cheep and have many good games. When XBox 2 is released it will be expencive and wont have any good games :)

I read in MicroMart (yes I know, not exactly a games mag) that the xbox 2 would play xbox games. Make of that what you will.
 
Well I got an Xbox and I must say I am not dissapointed at all! The graphics completley blow away the PS2's, but I have yet to see the Xbox live thing in action due to exams comming up :\

The games I got where Topsping Tennis, which is awesome, and Amped 2, which I dont like, they came with the system. Halo 2, which is godly, and Collin Mcrae Rally 2005, which is really hard! But it is a real life rally simulator, a much better rally sim then you will get in GT3, but then again it wasnt meant to be a serious rally game.
 
If you like a real rally simulator try "Richard Burns Rally", thats a real simulator :)
Also check out PGR2 if you like racing games, great game with very good live support.
