I cancelled my GP and I won’t be coming back. Will probably also sell my Series X once FH6 comes to PS5.

Somehow subs for anything getting more expensive has been completely normalized. I’m out. Also cancelled my Netflix and my Disney+ not too long ago.

Instead of canceling like 90 percent of other people have done I just revised. Soon as I saw that I went for the cheapest 9.99 option that way I could at least still play online but save some money each month. Microsoft is really on some bs this year huh. Smh

Just cancelled gamepass for my laptop. Tbf this was a nice reminder as I haven't even used it for like 3 months now!

Hopefully buying call of duty pays off for Microsoft.....

I cancelled as well. Shame as I've had it for years, but absolutely can't justify that when I don't play enough.

Shame. I'll buy Outer Worlds/Fable/Horizon 6 as they're basically all I want, anyway.

Yeah. I’m thinking about bumping up my PS sub one tier.

I thought it was barely worth it before, 95% of the games are forgettable. This feels like another nail in Xbox’s coffin.

This was always gona happen. Surprised the Internet is shocked, all subscription services end up with this type of price hike eventually.

As primarily a Playstation gamer I would hate for Xbox to disappear completely.

More competition is better for everyone but Microsoft constantly make bad decisions with their Xbox division meaning very little competion for Sony and Nintendo.

Yea I got that Hulu Disney and espn bundle and I don’t even touch Disney or ESPN( got it for F1 and don’t care for it this season as the races this season have been a bore) …will probably cancel that. I want to cancel Netflix but stranger things final season is coming out soon …so they got me for now

Apparently a lot of companies lost federal funding (no surprise) so no surprise at Microsoft raising subscription costs

This is a 50% price hike ($20 to $30) after a jump from $17 to $20 just over a year ago.

Cool that you knew this was happening, but I get why people are shocked.

I give it 2 years before the Mountain Dew Verification Cans become real.

This is corporate greed and nothing else.

When infinite growth is the name of the game and you can’t actually grow your userbase you have to maximize what you got.
Even if 20% cancel their sub a 50% piece increase with still appease share holders which is all they care about.

I honestly haven't used Gamepass in a long time, the only times I have used it were when I got a promo code to try it for free. I barely used it. I mean, I guess it makes sense for online gaming, but I don't really do much of that as I am a single-player person.

Game Pass is (or was, I don't know anymore at this point) great for that too, so long as more than a handful of what was offered appealed to you.

It probably is, but I don't play nearly enough games at a time to justify paying a subscription fee each month. I honestly have been fine just buying games instead.

Raise the price of your console and then raise the price of the ability to use said console online.

With the way their first-party games have been complete dogwater lately, I'm not surprised. I saw a notion repeated, very often, that their original deal was too good to be true and that this was the intended goal/price tag altogether.

Feels a little tone-deaf to do this when Steam is running their Autumn sale, but what do I know?

The hits keep on coming

Before this week's restructuring, Game Pass subscribers were entitled to a ten percent discount on DLC and add-ons. The recently released Order of the Giants, for example, the DLC for Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, was discounted if you had an active Game Pass subscription.
Well, now you get nothing as active Game Pass subscription or not, Indy's DLC is full price. The same applies to Starfield's Shattered Space which, had you bought it as recently as five days ago, would have been ten percent cheaper if you're subscribed to Game Pass. Forza Horizon 5's Hot Wheels DLC, along with some of its other additional content, is also full price now, regardless of what you might be signed up to.

I was brought up in the 1970s when everyone rented their TVs and then in the 80s we rented VCRs.
I was already thinking of dropping down a tier as I tend to buy games more than "rent" them. I liked to try the occasional Day One game but Premium will be enough for me.
I've just scrapped Amazon Music Unlimited and Ad-free Prime movies as well because I'm back into CDs and 4k Blu Rays.

Wow... this is funny. I downgraded to Premium by charging a credit card, which was supposed to happen today... and it charged me exactly US$1... instead of the expected US$10.99. So, according to Microsoft, I have Game Pass Premium, but my console and PC think I'm in Game Pass... Standard?! Let's see if this clears out soon... Xbox self-destructing this week was not in my bingo card.

Tbh for someone like me who only does sim racing buying the annual £40 gp essential off of cdkeys/loaded would do me just to play online, but considering I only own 2 titles on the SX (PC2 & WRC10) I wouldn't be losing much so it looks like the perfect time to get a gaming laptop.

I already own a lot of classic Sim titles on my potato laptop but if I want to enjoy the fruits of all the new stuff then what better time to do so.

They have halved the rewards points for playing games for me who does not have gamepads. I am not happy.

Time to retire my second hand Xbox. I bought it off a colleague so I could play FH5. Must say I got my monies worth with game pass ultimate for a tenner a month. Since updates to FH5 slowed I've found I don't turn the Xbox on. Really couldn't get into Motorsport either (really thought I'd enjoy it).
So subscription cancelled and use it to save for a PS5 and continue enjoy GT7 on PS4 until then. Eventually FH6 will release PS5 so only the one subscription required.

Call me crazy, but I'll keep paying it. When it's the middle of the month and I'm bored, being able to try a new game for no extra cost beats taking a punt on something I end up not liking. I can also make use of it on PC, and I don't subscribe to PS Plus, so it's one subscription covering two of my gaming platforms. There's still value in that.

This was the exact same reason I unsubscribed, the only reason I even continued to subscribe was for FH5, then I brought it on PS5, so there was no point to me continuing the subscription, and I'll do the same for FH6.
