I just witness a friend of mine on Discord having a meltdown over the announcement. From sharing six videos of the car having faults or being beaten by a GT-R (all from the same uploader), and worrying about Japanese companies collaborating with Chinese one. Frankly, I think they're being too paranoid about it.

Meanwhile, I'm still displeased (with a touch of bias) that we don't have a Malaysian brand in the game yet.

Hopefully all of this would translate to a dedicated EV championship/series of races in the future installment of the series.

Bolded the part I want to slightly expand on, not just EV events and championships, but also overhauling tuning for EV’s to make them more viable picks for racing.

Racing motors and battery’s for better power and range, adjustable gearing and EV swaps to match the madness of some of the GT7 engine swaps. šŸ‘

Wow the addition of the SU7 is definitely dividing opinion here. It's "use" is totally irrelevant to me because simply being able to drive such an incredible machine from an emerging market is a privilege. The SU7 has barely existed but in that short time it's already become a part of automotive history - even Ford CEO Jim Farley is singing it's praises. Like it or loathe it, the SU7 is a landmark vehicle for China and deserves it's place in Gran Turismo.

If the Ioniq 5N hadn't divided enough people already, then this would definitely divide even more people...

Regardless, pretty interesting since this would be the first Chinese car to be put in Gran Turismo (setting aside my opinion on most Chinese cars, I still think they're massively overhyped and completely underwhelming cars that prioritise gimmicky features over the driving experience) and considering how Kaz said that the Xiaomi people are GT fans, it's good for them to see their car being featured in the game.

I wonder if there’d be the same reaction from some people if the EV being added was a Evija.
There are definitely some people who write off any EV in GT as boring to drive due to lack of gears, noise, or events they can enter, which are valid points.

The Evija being added would be exciting mostly for the implication that the licensing issues were resolved and that other Lotuses/Lotii would soon return; several Elise, Evora and Europa models from GT6 are gathering dust, and there's vast potential for more.

As I've not seen it in other games like the Evija, I'm keen to try the SU7 Ultra, with one important caveat: the other two (or more) cars that arrive with the Xiaomi in the update will be more interesting. It's almost guaranteed. Unless two slower SU7s accompany it, the presence of any vehicle ever made will overshadow the electric hypercar. A petrol sports car will have obvious appeal. A racecar will make racecar folks happy. An ordinary hatchback will be interesting just for how extraordinarily ordinary it is. An electric city car will become its own jolly spec-series, it's happened before.

I already feel sorry for the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra for theoretically having to compete for attention with the 2001 Ford Ka, and losing.

I was negative yesterday in here about it (it was the end of a very busy week, so I apologize) the thing is, as good as the car maybe in real life in GT7 and every other game EV's are pretty much all the same, this Xiaomi is going to feel pretty much the same as the Tesla and the Hyundai etc, I would rather have a Rimac but that would be pretty much the same.

It is good new cars are coming to GT7 and long may it continue, but I would rather pay real money to drive the GMA T.50 in GT7.

The problem is that you always are complaining about this game as if PD are forcing you to play it.
Don't like the game anymore, just don't play it, it's simple, play another game instead.
On the contrary, because I like it a lot as a game, that's why I'm 'grumbling'. I started playing since GT3 and over the years I've really enjoyed all the GT games. It's just that Kaz had raised the bar a lot in previous games and it's a bit disappointing when some things that people ask for don't happen... And as I see, I'm not the only one....
P.S. GT7 was my most played game in 2024....

Ok, I understand, but you need to find you own fun for the game, look for the good side of the game, for not get disappointed too much, this is what I do, with every game, enjoying and watching the good sides of the games.
P.S. If the devs don't have added some things asked by the players, is because they must have some difficulties, and other game developing related challenges, making a game is not an easy task.
Anyway, good playing and sorry for any thing.

I wish they put the prodrive prototype car into the game as well.
But it's exciting enough.
I've tried the Assetto Corsa mod version of that 1500bhp Xiaomi car, it's no sony EV, way more power on rear wheels make it almost like a rear wheel drive car. Just with some little 350bhp on the front wheels to help out the massive power on the rear.
It's more rear wheel drive than the Hyundai 5N, only with the same "lack of brake" problem (probably due to the weight, and the speed).

Thank you my friend! Take care and have fun with everything you do!!!!

This seems like another evidence of long term support for GT7. If GT8 was close they would wait with Xiaomi car for this.
If I remember correctly, the 917 living legend was initially announced for GT Sport, yet it ended up as a halo car for GT7.

bro not even when Forza had announced the Wuling Sunshine (that is a car that sold more than the xiaomi) i had saw this much hate lmao

i dont like china beacuse of the goverment and the bad stuff they do, but i think that is time to accept that Chinese car market is a market that will start showing more and more in racing games from now on, and like any other type of markets there has cars people like or dont like, being fitted to those markets

i bet if was the 230214924842903128490211 variation of a mercedes gt3 or some lambonarrigunisegg variation you would be celebrating

funny how racing game fans go quickely from "we want new things" to "i want the same thing i had saw on 231214083029423 different games"
Actually no, but I would like the Elantra N. Or maybe some TCR cars. Or maybe updated GT4 cars. Or maybe something actually useful. But this isn't a wish list thread, so I digress.

I think the problem is that China heavily subsidizes their car industry and then they dump their cheap products on the European market. So the European car industry needs some protection or else it will be destroyed. People need to think twice before buying Chinese EV's.
That’s the old narrative from the western perspective but I’m not sure I can believe it no longer.
how much more are european cars because of auto unions? Or because of greedy boards who pay exorbitant bonuses and salaries to their executives, csuite and ceo? Isn’t this also where there is waste?
Don’t get me wrong I dont condone any of Chinas actions. But I think the old ā€œChina subsidisesā€ is a convenient excuse for those who benefit from the waste and inefficiency and bloat in euro car companies.

Could it be that GT7 will be officially released in China soon? If that's the case a cooperation would benefit both partners a lot.
No matter what the exact reasons are why we see Xiami before Lotus, Koenisgegg etx - The approximate explanation is probably $$$

And that is kinda lame for a game as successful as Gran turismo.

I was pleased to learn about Xiami as a company, yet I have 0 interest in their cars being in the game cause I find driving evs boring

Wow, the partnership has already been announced. I'm surprised.

Everyone has their own opinion about China, and I myself have a negative view of them in terms of politics.
But my policy is to separate politics from hobbies. That means I'm very happy to see new brands being added. The only disappointment is that the game only has very outdated performance upgrade options for EVs and hybrids.

The SU7 Ultra is too powerful so there's no need to worry, but if they're going to add more EVs in the future, I hope they at least add performance upgrade options for EVs and hybrids to the same level as Forza.

That way, hybrid/EV city cars like the Prius, Aqua, and i3 can be used in more races. Let me make my dream of beating the GT-R and Huracan with a Prius come true, Kaz!

Words cannot express just how much of a dud the CR-V is in the game, past its stock performance. If the game wants to promote more of these hybrids/EVs, then they got to break those tuning chains from it. Otherwise they might as well do a "Prologue" release with those cars only
