Both of these showed up in my used lot today; is it worth the 1.3 mil extra for the race car version? Same HP, same torque, a hundred kg lighter....seems like a lot of extra dough for a fancy livery and a wing.
Isn't the race car 200+ kg lighter? (it's 1100kg vs. 1300+ kg for the stock version even after all the weight reduction) Huge difference - add to that the downforce generated by the aero package.
It all depends on which races you'll be using it for. The street version is fine for the first few levels, but once you start going against race cars you'll be struggling.
The race version actually ran in the 1993 24 Hour of LeMans and won but was later disqualified for a technicality. It also won a couple other races. Both are great cars and pretty fast. The stock version was the World's Fastest Car and was the first car to use the term "supercar" to refer to a car that can break 200mph. And, in fact, the McLaren F1 was built specifically to beat the Jaguar.
