Hello guys,
I just wanted to know what YLOD actually is? My friend says that your PS3 gets frozen and doesn't do anything. How's that possible?

It's the yellow light of death.

It happens when your PS3 overheats and melts some of the wiring I think. It is fixable and mainly happens with the old phat PS3's. To avoid it, keep your PS3 in a well ventilated space.

I think in some cases it can be a problem with the harddrive...Sony themselves don't really know from what I've heard, the yellow light basically means a fault somewhere in the system.

There no specific reason as to why you can get the YLOD, its a general fault light. It just means that something somewhere in the PS3 has either come loose or failed.

However all the failures seem to be due to heat so keeping the system cool and clean is key.
