What if i am driving an endurance, got 15 minutes left to go of a 2 hour race and i drive into a wall because the slower car i wanted to lap, isn't letting me pass.
I drove 105 minutes for nothing. That would suck big time.

Ever seen AI block you from passing? Anybody?

I must agree with magc8ball and say that this idea will make the game a bit bitter, I wouldnt want to paly it, Im leading by like 5 laps its almost the end of an enduro race my fingers hurt like hell, and you want my engine to blow up or something silly like that give me a break youd be the only person to buy that game!

Forgot to change your oil? Not my problem. Didn't pit for tires? You should know better. I never had a problem with passing at the end of a race because my place is in 1st.

Screw it, I'm going all the way! Damage, tires and axles like GT2(the hell with the pretty pretty eye-candy), only permanently on and let's see Mr. 99.9999% completed do squat.

Know what else? Endurance race, no pause(continue/exit), so take a good leak before and a empty can with you or lose the race unless you can finish, or put your Mommy at the wheel until you get back from the toilet.

Whining bunch of brats! Whats next, my 787B avatar censored for being Japanese and reponsible for Pearl Harbour. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

Whatta ya want now!?

I think a lot of people make the mistake of saying "most people prefer damage" without really looking into it. Most GT3 owners don't appear on these forums and a large percentage (I'd say close to half) of those here don't want mandatory damage.

Most people that buy and play GT3 (and other console games for that matter) aren't hardcore simulation fans. They're people who play the game for fun and don't want to devote 2-4 hours a day to the game or have it screw them over time and again. They want it to be fun and that's about it.

Most simulation gamers stick to PC gaming and avoid consoles for their tendency to use "arcade" style gameplay over the more realistic play expected out of simulations.

If a game gets too realistic, the fun-oriented players won't buy the game. What that means is lower budgets for programming and licensing and a game that even the simulation players won't want, regardless of the realism.

On the flip side, simulation players will buy the game because it is the peak of the genre with or without damage. If fun-oriented players and sim-oriented players will buy the game without requiring damage, then it isn't going to be in the game.

At this point, adding damage just represents additional expenditure of time and money without proportionately greater gains. Companies aren't stupid. If they can cut a cost out and not lose any market share, they'll be more than happy to do so.

Ever heard of on/off?

They didn't advertise they took the GT2 style damage out of GT3 and every living soul who bought it didn't know until they hit the wall!

Is it possible for gamers like us to sign a pettition, asking polyphony digital, for the upcoming gt game what ever it is to include in the game visual damage inflicted on the care in the case of an accident.

in the end we the gamers are the ones who are paying for the games, and i think we have the right to demand higher quality games, eventually it all comes down to the money we are the consumers and they are the providers, so i think we have the right for better quality products, not like taht what we have is bad but it can be better!

I couldn't have said it better.

i got another idea, in endurance races you could save the game everytime you pit, if you mess up your car then just reload the game ;)
