In the past few months, to my annoyance, iPods have exploded all over campus.

That would only be annoying if (a) you werre hit by iPod fragments, or (b) it was your iPod that blew up.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/03/30/ipod_this_seasons_musthave/ - check the article :)

In my case, I accidentally let a bit of the remote slip out from under my jacket - that was apparently enough to give it away and get me mugged :irked:

Were you wearing the 'Please mug me i'm using an iPod' white headphones? I remember hearing that apple refused to change the colour (color?) of the earphones because it wouldn't look as stylish. Although i'm just reitterating what someone told me at work.

Ps Doug would only rule if he bought a Land Rover Defender, like I told him to like 2 years ago.

Edit: And I read linked articles, after I post something that makes me look like i'm just repeating information which is even awesomer.

nah, the "please mug me, i'm using an iPod" white headphones are absolutely horrendous for audio quality. I can't believe people actually use them. The dude just somehow knew I had an iPod because he said "give me your ipod" - apparently it was the remote that was enough to give it away since he grabbed that first

I think they're these things.

I think that some people just don't see the point in wearing your opinions.

Who benefits from the sale of those bracelets anyway? Is there a charity that money goes to or what?

The Register
West Midlands police have issued a stark warning to iPod users: ditch the white headphones or pay the price.

It's not just West Midlands Police that say that, it's any hi-fi magazine also. I use Sony Fontopia headphones with my iPod.

So that's what those things are. I thought they were some kind of insane asylum day pass.

I don't have a rubber bracelet. Does this mean I'm a patient, or running the asylum?

Sage, more and more each day. I'm closer to believing that you live in a carboard box.

Agree fully! The kid's oblivious to trends!

Ps Doug would only rule if he bought a Land Rover Defender, like I told him to like 2 years ago.

I bought my Range Rover certified-used from a local Land Rover dealer. On display, this dealer had a Defender 110 (the only one I'd get; 90s are cool but a lot of stuff is cool). I begged them to give it up, but they wouldn't sell it for anything short of an absurd price. If one pops up I'll give it a look, but I'm a bit weary on reliability.

I used to have big Radio Shack headphones. One side stopped working. Now they gather dust. They were great for games, though.
