I’m over here watching DTCC from 2002 and during a break between races, a guy in a suit starts talking about cars in shells like the Mondeo and Passat. Obviously it didn’t last long, but it’s crazy I wasn’t aware of this touring car series.

So I just (literally just) came across the fact that Ferrari made a one-off homage to the F40 for a customer. It's based on the 296 GTB and is called the SC40. And...it is not it. At all. I...it reminds me more of the Series 2 and 3 Esprit than an F40. :yuck:

EDIT: Now that I've continued to look at it and how much it doesn't resemble an F40, it reminds me so much of the Vector M12.

Its almost there... It just needs a tidy-up. And red paint. I don't even know if I like it or not to be honest.
I respect Ferrari's heritage, and like the idea, but the line between making a car look recognizable to the original and "new" at the same time is really hard, so I it's an interesting one to say the least

This would be an accurate hommage if the F40 was a beefed up 348...
 
Just learned about this one, the late '00s Nissan Altima Coupe.

Looks like a G35 but way more generic looking if you know what i mean, and probably a bit smaller

Huh? Who hasn't heard of that car? Unless it isn't known of outside of Australia, I don't see the point of this post :confused:

Way back, probably in my first year of living in Australia, I have seen one and only one, in silver and thought it was just a regular long wheelbase Fairlane or LTD. Had no idea it was this special and rare! Guess I could also put this in the rarest cars I've seen thread.



The one in the link below is the last of only 3 built of the Series 3. It's different from the first two as they were built in late 2001 as AUII. While the owner says(at the time of the post in 2024) his was built mid-year 2002 and stamped as an AUIII. A true 1 of 1.
 
I've never been a fan of the Chevette, but I was today years old when I learned that they had a diesel version! 1.5-l Isuzu 3-cylinder, apparently reliable as dirt and slow as paint drying, with 0-60mph around 20 seconds. Owners apparently getting 46mpg combined mileage, but merging onto a freeway required a plan!

I had no idea there was a in-between concept using the A110 nameplate in 2012. It was called the Renault-Alpine A110-50, and it was a fully functional prototype that was released around the time the VGT was designed as a part of Alpine's revival. I first found this car in one of the FH6 threads on this forum. The R.S.01 seems to be based of it.

Yeah, personally love this, you can drive it in DriveClub, at least you could, don’t know if it’s possible today as the servers and all that stuff was pulled the plug on some years ago
 
Again, i'm back after some time, since the last time i posted a couple of my new finds, here i am gonna post again, based off the stuff i learned about since that last time......
I'm only speaking of production models, since mentioning any prototypes and concepts would really stretch the list......

The Biagini Passo. An Italian, Golf-based, 4x4, convertible hatchback. Also shares it's name with a small Toyota hatch.

The Lada Nadezhda. A Russian minivan which looks like a Sharan, Serena, Axxess, and a GM Dustbuster all at once.

Ford Festiva GT-A. Some version of the Japanese-market Festiva. The different colored front bumper is kinda weird to be honest.

The Vauxhall Viceroy. I think this is a Commodore (Opel Commodore)? Yeah, what else is there to say about this?

The American-market Ford Fiesta. The Fiesta has always been an European thing for me, so it's quite a surprise to me when i found out they sold them in the US. There's other gens, but the Mk.I is the one i'm going to show you.

The Maserati Mexico. Just another one in Maserati's pile of 60s-70s lineup of coupes. This dosen't look bad either, it looks just as good as the other Maseratis at the time in my opinion.

The Holden Suburban. The big bad flagship Chevy....... big thing? Rebadged as a Holden for the Australian-market. Everything becomes a Holden eventually......

Didn't knew the Ford EcoSport had an earlier gen, this started production around 2007. It's mostly a South American thing. This looks like a more adventure-esque, soft-roader edition of the European-market Fusion.

'48 Tasco when they asked if they could rather than if they should, and maaaaaan would I love this thing over a Caterham given even a remote opportunity. I today's toiletpaper money this would by ~$104k which honestly kinda puts it into a track toy price point around a Donkervroot, ish-ish or just the bog-standard 911 whatever RS.
