You think this down time can really hurt GT5's online?

Everyone who played online will still own GT5 so I'm pretty sure they'll just get back to it.

Yeah. There's no new sim racer out for the ps3 so why wouldn't you still play? I seriously hope people of the world aren't that ADD to lose interest after a couple weeks of downtime.

Both Sony and PD fails co communicate with us, its due to the japanese organizational culture, they hardly admit that they do wrong decisions, and not losing face is also very important in those cultures. Japanese have their special ways, just look at gt5, kaz said that he didnt like to add additional things to the game, once its released, nissan gt-r, the untunable car, sushi, dont ask for more wasabi, the chef have allreaddy made it perfect. So the japanese vendors think that they have done so excelent job, that there is no need for modification, weither its console games, cars, food, etc. To be frank, japanese think they are supirior, and dont like other people/companies to improve their product, in their eyes its a lack of respect.

But to us US and european players, this mentality is quite strange, because we are used to improve stuff. Just look at PD as a company, they have to improve their processes, and it had to be a ddos before they woke up, and saw that their systems was outdated and slow. And then sony have the curage to sue people left and right for beeing innovative? It stinks japanese organizational culture miles away...
LOL....what?

LOL....what?

He probably is right though. A lot of what went wrong in the development of GT5 is likely due to cultural differences. Like, nobody in PD telling Kaz in all of those 6 years that he needed to get his priorities straight because it is not done to question the boss.

Yes, there is: Shift 2... And more and more ex-GT players are finding out how great it is. 👍

From what I've heard Shift can hardly be called a simulator, but I've yet to try it. I'm not interested in it anyhow.

shift 2 is no where near gt5 in the driving physics, i think PD think that because there is no other sim racer on the ps3 they dont have to keep updating because they have nothing to compete with

Shift 2 is very different to GT5 but the new patch has made the game much better. I bought it because I am bored with GT5 without PSN. If PSN had never gone down I probably would have never tried it.

I'm not going to say the physics are better but there are elements that are better, the tire and brake modeling for one, the gameplay being the other.

I've now got bored of GT5, as I've only got the 2 x 24hr races left, and have no desire to play them. So I've bought F1 2010. I like the idea of having a proper Career to play.

I'm certain PD isn't going to do squat.

Gran Turismo 5 is over and done with.

Sure, PD might add this or that maybe change a couple things -- but in the long run that content that SHOULD be there, ISN'T and for some strange pessimistic reason there NEVER will be.

Gran Turismo 5 is what it is, if you don't like it now you won't like it later. If you feel it lacks content now, it will still lack content later.

I was one of those optimists that believed "No, Gran Turismo series is different -- it's taken seriously, it's quality", I agree still quality it might be but lacking content...that's all it does.

PD doesn't take the series as seriously as they claim, it's simple and that massive amount of time was not truly production time it was just time they sat back and thought about GT5 until rushing it altogether the last year.

Come one people, it's money, it's business...they don't care about standard or premium or what tracks are missing...it's just a product sold to consumers...a mirage or illusion

What makes you think PD doesn't care about the GT franchise if they spend years and years on making a single game, and second, what does this have to do with the PSN outage?

I think it's possibly a blessing in disguise for PD that PSN is down.Think about it,with PSN down, there is nobody exploiting anything so there is no current need for those quick hole fixes we kept getting, they can work on more important thing's now :)

Because there are 5 guys in PD's staff, right ?
