I did a search on this and nothing came up, so here goes. It's exactly as the title says: what was your biggest mistake while playing GT4? It could be in a race, a purchase, selling a car, or whatever.

Mine actually applies to all my games really. I had a memory card with tons of game files on it, including my prized 72.something percent complete GT4 file. I made the mistake of bringing my card to a friend's house and putting it in his PS2 to use it. I don't know how, but after I came home and put it back in my PS2, all my data was wiped out. Everything. I'm pretty sure it was something wrong with his PS2, but in any case, I had to restart all the game files that I had lost. Now I enjoy doing this in normal circumstances, but not when I lose my old file.

Your turn!

:-)

My biggest mistake was leaving the ps2 down with a 2 year old running around. i lost a boat load of money and car's never made that mistake again.

Mine was probably leaving the PS2 on while my little bro was in my room. I had pretty much all cars then he sold them. he deleted the data too. I will never do that again

Just like you guys, I too have had a little kid messing with my garage, except he actually bought about 20 used cars. A waste of a fair bit of money. Luckily nothing else was touched.

But things that were my fault? I guess using aids in GT4, that seriously hurt my driving skill development later on. And also buying a top spec R34 as a first car. Minor stuff really.

Top spec R34? PSHH! I bought a Ford GT.

My mistake, 500,000 for the old Audi Streamline thing. Apparently it's a "special car" :ouch:

A Ford GT for under Cr.110,000?

Was there some sale at Ford I did not know about?

I bought that car as like...my 10th car or something. I sold a few cars to buy it...it looked so tempting. It screwed me up for good. Also driving aids AND automatic. I found that using my DF with manual and no driving aids made me much quicker.

NTSC, buddy. It was like 87,000 I wanna say. I could fit a supercharger before even racing

i made the huge mistake of buying a spoon s2000 race car. i was so mad to see where the rev limiter was.....

man, it redlines before peak torque!!!!!!! and the car has no torque, so it runs like garbage!!!!!!!!!

No, all the Ford GTs are 149,xxx. Even in NTSC.

The Viper however is right in that price bracket.

I remember now! Thanks for the reminder. I needed another 40 grand so I bought the cheapest fast car (used Supra) and kept doing the sunday cup and something else

Letting my newbie friends drive at my Le Sarthe 24h Enduro. Lost a 5-minute lead in 5 laps, then ran out of gas and fell most of a lap behind. Thankfully, I was able to recover and win by only 2 minutes.

Never again will anyone touch my DFP when I'm doing something that huge.

Hmmm. I can't think of anything really big, yet. :guilty:

I've had lots of small mistakes, though. All those great replays that (as I watch them) I tell myself to MAKE SURE THIS GETS SAVED. And when I finish watching the replay I

1. press triangle so it counts my money faster.

2. press triangle again to exit from the money payout screen to the final results screen. DAMMIT GT4'S MENU SYSTEM IS SO F:CENSORED:ING SLOW.

3. press triangle again so I exit this race and go on to the DOH1!!!1 :dunce::banghead::guilty: FORGOT TO SAVE THE REPLAY!!!

There's a thread like that called ''What's the biggest mistake you did in GT4.'' ;)

You should have like 'deleted' everything he owns, i heard some gas and matches does it pretty nicely.

Anyway, the dumbest thing i did was delete my about 20% savefile for no reason at all.

Hmm...my biggest mistake? Well, i had needed $2 million to buy all the black beauties...so i sold 5 cars to do so. I didn't realise at the time that selling cars costed game days, and i completely missed ALL the black beauties! And, not far behind, I was doing La Sarthe 24hr, and i'd won the race, winning an Audi R8. I went to my garage, intending to sell the car i'd just raced with, my GT-One. Somehow, my thumb slipped, so i ended up selling the Audi! 🤬🤬

Maybe this helps some understand the search function a bit better:

I did an advanced search, entered the words "biggest" and "mistake" (without the "") and narrowed down the search by adding the options for 'thread titles only' and the 'GT4 forum plus subforums'. The search function presented me 9 results. The first one was this thread, the second one:

What's the biggest mistake you did in GT4

Wasn't that hard, was it? :)

DOH! :dunce:

leaving autosave on, the first time i played.., i didn't want my win ratio to get a scratch so i had to start ALL OVER again!! :grumpy:

I did not know about those functions, thanks.👍

My biggest mistake was to start playing a diff. racing game for a while then playing GT4 again. Whenever I get bored of GT4 I play NASCAR 08. Then I start playing GT4 and I over shoot every corner. Get back on the gas too early or too late.

:) This happens if I skip over to Grand Theft auto for a few days. Every car in that game drives like a cartoon.

yeah same with me and need for speed, 180mph round a 90 degree corner in a golf gti? psshhtt!

My biggest mistake? Must have been buying the caterham 7 right after the sunday cup, selling ALL My other cars and spending all my cash, i got caught out by the 'special car' thing, they should really have a warning.

Or it was the first (and last!) time i used my maxdrive, i was halfway through downloading some NFS goodiesand extras when my ps2 slimline froze, i had to reset and THEN i realised that not only had it wiped everything clean, including an 86% game on
GT3, a 72% game save on GT2 and a 48% game save and GT4 aswell as EVERY OTHER GAME I HAD EVER PLAYED! But it had also wiped my network configuration file so that i couldnt play online anymore, JUST after i had figured out how to do so on all my favourite non-racing games. So i had to wait 3 weeks for a network access disk.

What happened tot he maxdrive i hear you ask? It went flying out the 2nd storey window. Closely followed by the slimline.

Racing in New York going down that long straight after the Circle. I always hit the wall at the end turning left. I end up smashing the wall at 100+mph & let everyone skip me because they will all crash me back to the wall.

Too bad...that's a great area to out-brake and out accelerate the Ai. I use the white crosswalks (on the street surface) as a braking point reference. this way, you'll slow yourself down in time before that dreaded 180 degree turn-around.

Personally I don't know how you could be come bored of GT4. But then I haven't got a PS3 and GT5 yet :sly::)

Anywho, Biggest Mistake was when I first got the game, I was using B-Spec too much and not enjoying the game for myself. Scrapped that 100% game and started again.
The only B-spec I used this time was to wear cars down and will be to run two championships (FGT and 1000 miles, because i [have done / am doing] them individually for 200 Points, then had / have bob take care of the championship for completion %).

That was when I didn't know how to get into the gtwc. Turns out I had a 3rd place finish in a series. It looked like gold:( But if that never happened I would never have joned this forum. So I guess everything turned out good:sly:

My biggest mistake was buying the frikin' game and then a DFP... and then trying to get a 100%.
