I got this idea from my History of Rock N' Roll class back in my Junior year of high school: if you were to be stranded on a deserted island, what 10 CDs would you bring with you? No custom mixes allowed, but soundtracks and studio compilations are okay.

(Assume you had a portable CD player with unlimited batteries... :sly:)

I'll have to think on mine, but thought I'd throw the question out there.

*EDIT* - regarding dual-disc albums:

If the second disc is just there because the first one ran out of space (such as with Metallica's "S&M"), you can count them as one. But if it's a collection (for example, I have a WWF/WWE 3-disc collection of wrestler theme songs covering the three main generations), no. Pick one disc.

04. Metallica - the black album
05. Ice Cube - "The Predator"
06. AC/DC - Live

Does an iPod count? :p But I don't really know what music to bring, but I could probably list down some CD's that I would like to bring with me...... (that was before I got my iPod)

  1. Mew - And The Glass Handed Kites
  2. Bloc Party. - Silent Alarm
  3. Maxeen - Maxeen
  4. Foo Fighters - In Your Honor
  5. Coldplay - Live 2003
  6. Eminem - Curtain Calls
  7. Keane - Hopes and Fears
  8. Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake
  9. Akon - Trouble
  10. and either The Fall Of Troy - Doppelganger or The Number Twelve Looks Like You - Mongrel

:)

💡 Your iPod is somehow incapable of holding individual songs; only studio albums (and it knows what a mix-tape is!). And it's limited to 10, irrelevant of file size.

If I get stuck on a island with Cyborg, somebody put me out of my misery. :p j/k

Mine's far worse:

10) Read below

I'd need something like "101 Classical Greats" which has 101 famous classical music tracks. That particular collection is out because it doesn't have Debussy or Gershwin. But it would take me a long time to find the right compilation. So long that I'm reserving a second spot to help find another compilation disc set to fill in the gaps.

On the bubble:

Edit: I'm realizing that my rock music collection there is something of a downer. I might have to spice it up with something a little livelier, but I'm not sure what I'd cut.

ahem, good call on illmatic too.

On another note, my girlfriend and I saw the Wailers this summer, they put on a hell of a show.

You are excused.

Variance is key when you're stranded on a desert island. Stereophonics and Kings of Leon are great, but how many times can you hear these two different sounds before getting bored?

Stephen Marley would be great with the Wailers I bet. Sounds just like his dad. Check out Mind Control. I think that's what Bob Marley would be doing today.
