I voted Subaru. I know they leave a lot to be desired in terms of looks but they are such good cars.

I've had Hondas before but they leave me feeling empty. Too light and flimsy. And Honda has really lost the plot lately.

BM's are nice but they have made quite a few design flops lately (7 series).

For me, nothing can beat the sound of a nice boxer engine.

Holden: The Brand does not have the heritage or longevity of all the European makes, but they cater for all types, from the little econo bubble to the commercial trade to the sportscar and a lot more inbetween.
Whist doing this, maintaing a world class build quality, and keeping the range affordable to most of the working class.

Holden has few rivals at the topend of its range, making a V8 4 door family sedan, capable of 260kph+, sub 14second 400m, sub $100k AUS.

All these points gets my vote.👍

I've noticed there's no-one outside of Australasia who votes for Holden/HSV...

Hmmmm...:p

I'm going with Porsche. I can't think of a single model they've ever made (924 not inclusive) that didn't do exactly what it should and do it well.

There's nowt wrong with the 924. It gets bad rep but without it Porsche wouldn't be here today. Just like they wouldn't without the original Boxter which also got a panning from Porsche "enthusiasts".

Mercury and Saab have been voted for but not TVR? What happened to that TVR-fan member that posts a lot? 💡

The early models were sports car without the sport.

Unless you count dressage as a sport. Or maybe darts.

I decided to go with Jeep. You have to admire that they still build the Wrangler with removable doors/top/foldable windshield, and solid axles. They know that changing it to attract more people would alienate the ever-growing fanbase. It's noisy, rides rough, and gets crappy mileage, but that's the way a Jeep should be! :sly:

Regardless of performance they still handled better than a great many cars at the time. They are not bad cars.

Agree, the problem with the "old porsche" its just the excessive power of the engine, and a less adequate weight distribution.

We can see that in the 911 (930) turbo, when the turbo boost is like a rocket in 1/2 second and that is a problem in a RWD car, with 60% os weight on the back.

This problems where solved quickly, and presently Porsche is one of the best supercars manufacturers.

And according to people who've driven them, and those who race them, the 924 has fantastic balance and provides a lot of fun.

Plus, the van engine jibes about the 924 really get my goat when it was actually a tuned Audi engine.

I don't get it, the 924 is a great car and always performs well in road rallies like the Targa Tasmania and Targa New Zealand.

I very well could have said "Mercedes-Benz" and been done with it. It's no secret that I have a love for any and all pre-1995 mercedes products. I own one, it's now running under the guise of the M124 self propelled storage locker with a gravity operated reverse gear.... :indifferent:

But I'm a Ford guy. I grew up drooling over old hotrods and customs, and many of the best wore the blue oval. They had some fantastic muscle cars, even better small sports cars (Cortina, Escort, Sierra...) and for a while they smacked Ferrari around Le Mans and asserted their dominance.

The blue oval is experiencing a resurgence in worthwhile products and leading the charge in the United States for smaller, turbocharged engines.

When I say "less adequate weight distribution" I refer the old Porsches with Rear engine and Rear drive wheels (the RR type). ex: Porsche 911 SC '83

The Porsche 924 is a Front engine car (FR).

👍

Ford, I guess. The Mustang is my favorite model lineup of all time. Plus, there's all the RS cars.

Honda, Will come as no surprise to anyone.

As far as a specific model, I have been a massive fan of any hatchback Civic from the EG / EK chassis era but i'm slowly moving onto like the K20a engine (obv a swap into an older chassis is possible i'm opting out of that one) thus also making me like the DC5 Integra Type-r and therefore will be my next car!!!

Matchbox would have to be my FAVORITE car MANUFACTURER ever!

Even though I can't vote (I'm guessing it's my noobishness :p) my vote would go for Lotus. I'm currently saving for an S1 Elise but the company just has a history of making some fantastic and original cars :D

Other manufacturers that came close:
Pagani
Alfa
Maserati
Lamborghini
TVR (Because who doesn't want to die in a 100mph backwards fireball into a tree? :D)

*gulp* Now this is a poll. I chose, of them all, Mazda, for one reason:

mazda-787b.jpg

The rotary engine winning Le Mans. One of only two engines that isnt an inline or V engine (you know what the other one is).

Shelby's mine.

Good ol' American Muscle. I'd love to drive a '67 GT500 Fastback
