Everyone has a favorite car in their life. If law and money wasn't an issue, there's always a car that you have continued to love for whatever reason it is. Beauty, speed, technology, or *gasp* gas milage! Where did you first see this car? What caught your eye, that made it so different from the others? What made it stick out from the crowds of Camry's and Ford's?
For me, it would be the Nissan Skyline GTR R34. I was six year's old. In the world where everyone loved Lamborghini's and Ferrari's. But I really liked the street tuner culture, you know, the stuff from The Fast and The Furious. Back then, that was my favorite movie, still is in fact. And that movie sparked an interest in my small boy head, as it did with many other people. Suddenly, cars like the Mazda RX-7 and Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX filled the spots of the Lamborghini Murcielago and Ferrari F40. Need For Speed was a perfect example of this. Their most recent game at that point was Hot Pursuit 2, which I played the hell out of, and which the most practical car was a BMW M5. Then after FnF, Need for Speed released a new title. Need for Speed Underground. This took illegal street racing to the next level. They ditched the cops and took night racing instead. This game gave you points for ricing your car out, which was something every little boy enjoyed.
Now, you unlocked the cars by progressing through the game. There were all these sorts of cars in there, but most of them would be hard to spot in a traffic jam. Then at the very end of the game, you unlocked one new car. Something so pretty, it was almost a crime. The Nissan Skyline. For me, it caught my attention right away with the massive wing on the back. Up to this point, I have never even heard of the car. But boy was it a joy. I then realised that it was an Iconic symbol. It appeared on almost all racing games from there on. In fact, the only game that didn't have it that I played was NFS Most Wanted, and they put it right back in the next game. GT has had it since GT2, and to this day, it still stands as my favorite car. In fact, I have five or six R34's in GT5 right now.
