I really enjoy driving the Suzuki Swift in shuffle mode. It's one of the cars that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Fully tuned Lotus Elan, can beat a 458 at Cote d'Azur.

RUF RGT. Maybe not as underdoggy as the others here, but... DAMN... It requires some tuning, but when done right, sweet baby jesus...

For SuperGT class racing online, I have come to enjoy the Nomad Diable 00 .. nobody will be racing with this car , they usually use the typical skyline or supra. This Diablo with the best turbo upgrade, is insanely fast. I have found myself up in 1-2 positions at the start of races, but sadly I make a few driver errors like brake too late and go off course, and than its really a dog in that aspect once you screw up. Stock suspension settings fell pretty good though.

A 300sl chromeline for cruising :-) makes a heavenly noise :-)

My Midget eats Ferrari's at Nurburgring (on sale in the Taco Stand) 👍

Agreed. Really a lovely car to drive. I've found its very forgiving nature to be well suited for low-traction events. It is my go-to car for the rain.

But im sure the ferraris smash you on the straights? Might be cool for A spec mode but online would be totally different.

I remember back to GT1, making a civic beat out the vipers and skylines, making my friends at the time trip out how a low level car could compete lol

i like celica's , as i never seen one online , i'd call it the underdog...

they perform rather well in the 450-500 range ( FR, FF or 4WD )

Mini cooper is excellent around the ring tuned to around 450 pp on SS tires. Also the non turbo 97 supra is good for a laugh. It handles well and without all the power of the RZ it fits into the lower pp rooms. Although IRL if i saw anyone racing/tracking a non-turbo I would have to question their sanity.

Fiat Panda '90. Got it today for my birthday, and can beat cars that are 500pp.

The Dodge Ram has incredible grip. A lot of on-power push, but incredible grip. Mine, which is fully tuned except for (maybe) a lower level exhaust and has racing softs, will out-turn and out-accelerate a GT-R! I've even beat an Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo with it, and that was far from my best race in so many ways - I quite shamefully squeezed someone into the wall on the second turn by mistake and then didn't wait for him, then understeered into the wall on the last one... before out-dragging the Amuse to win by about 0.165 seconds. So I probably didn't deserve that win, but the point is, the Ram is a beast. There were no adjustments except lowering it as much as possible and a bit of simple transmission work in a vain attempt to get over 170 out the tunnel at SSR7.

Why?

its a 200hp rwd car with double wishbone suspension all around

And most people arent keen on tossing their 15 year old car that cost 40k around the corners

Now that I think of it, you'd probably be MORE likely to see someone tracking a non-turbo, with bpu.

on topic, my favorite underdogs are the 99 and 02 mr2 / mr-s. theyre like 800 kilo's after weight reduction so they get a pretty big hit on hp, only going to win with straight up driving skill

They get used on the Ring a lot. I was once in a 480PP room where, out of 13/14 cars in the room, at least 4 of them were Rams. And nearly all of them ended up in the top 5. It was insane.

Sounds familiar... was there an elise rm racing with you guys?

Back to topic, the cerbera speed 6 has pretty good handling, i get some use out of it in mid PP road car races. 510'ish horsepower and 990Kg make a pretty awesome car.

Also, the Solstice coupe concept makes for a REALLY easy to drift car if you tune it right. Not too much power, just the right amount of weight and a short chassis. I guess the torque from the optional supercharger helps too.

Ginetta G4 tops @ 603pp:D
Insane top speed if tuned properly.

last night took my 87 esprit and raced against a few buddies on fuji last night, I got 2nd place and was beat by that Porsche boxster ruf car (I cant think of the Ruf name for it) , But yeah that esprit is pretty good imo, i think it is 900kg something in weight.
