Post up your first experience with this wonderful series, mine personally was at my uncles with gt4 and I did a rally but was totally terrible, but I was 6 at the time. What have you done lately to recreate this experience, have you been for a drive on THAT track in THAT car?

GT1 on PS1, I remember how blown away we were by the graphics and the ability to mess around with the cars. Been playing ever since.

Wow, OG right there!

I remember seeing the demo to GT back in 97(?) it looks so much better than anything else. I think it was polygons with some soft shading was the texture option of that era, but GT had that extra shine/ dynamic reflection on it. The cars were real but not just a Lotus Esprit... Or a bunch of fantasy GT cars.

Got the game when it came out (Game store was allowed to open at Midnight to sell it)

Start of the game was different, just so much effort compared to other games, menus looked tight, lots of info - yeah the manual was pretty thick too, compared to previous race games.

Bought a 92 Naturally aspirated Mitsubishi 3000GT in Fuji Blue but I think the start of the game was mandatory licence tests.

Too many memories of GT - I suppose the hellish Nissan dealership music - which now I don't mind that much.

SS11 - a real nice track with the "Suicide Chicane" -

Was bored one day, decided to rent a movie, saw you could rent a Playstation in the videostore as well (hadn't played videogames for years) so I rented that instead with 2 games, decided for an F1 game by Psygnosis which I intended to play mostly and took a game called Gran Turismo which I saw some advertising for too to basically see what it was.
Played that F1 game for a few hours, decided to swap disks and was amazed, that F1 game was put aside and now I wanted to own a Playstation.

Funny I've just come off a race on SSR11 in GT1. Don't remember much of it but I would know what you are talking about lol.

My first GT game was Concept, followed by GT4. I originally had no real clue what I was doing back then, until I ended up borrowing a friend's save then it all truly clicked into place. I now have all 5 main GTs plus 5:P, Concept and (previously though I should still have it) PSP. Oh, and Tourist Trophy.

Heh, mine was GT3.

I remember begging my Dad to buy me the game back in 2005, as I just liked the fact it had the word "Gillet" on the back (true story).
Then I put it in, and immeidiatly tried to buy an Aston Martin, no clue why though. When I finally realised that Cr. = Money, I bought the Honda CRX del sol in a nice Green Colour. Drove it on Midifeld Raceway, and fell in love with the game. From there, I got GT4 & 5, and am still looking for that Green del sol in the UCD :)

Remember reading a japanese import GT1 review in a playstation magazine (back then the only resource as internet wasn't available as much as it is now), and buying it soon after.

It was a eye opener compared to any racing game of that time, the graphics, the physics, the amount of cars and what you could do with them (especially the tuning options)...

Following years each time a new GT came out, i was one of the first there to be blown away once more.

With GT5 it was the first time i started playing it and missed that blown away factor, it felt more like a update than a revolution especially because they ported the majority of the cars straight from PS2, and didn't really bother about making the experience as a whole something refreshing, or give you the feeling you are playing a next gen game on a current console like you had with previous installments.

Didn't stop me from becoming addicted to it, but it's a shame they missed out on that factor.

First memories?
GT2, Midfield Raceway in Plymouth PT Spyder played on a rented PS1 when I came out of the hospital where I had my appendix removed (I didn't have PS1 at the time).
Later I got my own PS1 and went to the store to buy GT2, but the salesman sold me GT1 instead... and that's how it begun.

Samba green... Honda del sol CRX

I used to live outside a Honda Dealership when I was at University - and when I had a day off morning lectures they would demonstrate how the automatic top would retract into the car. - The poor salesman must have done it a dozen times a day for months and months

I've managed to get this car - it is used - but I think it would be a 0/plenty-o-miles/0 car I could send to you if you like.

GT1. My memories are just fragments though. Some things I do remember are SSR11, the hifi mode, a certain Toyota Supra and this music:

Played GT2 a lot (I miss Pikes Peak!) but never got a PS2 so after GT2 I didn't play for many years until I bought a PS3 and GT5p. Quite a lot has happened scince GT2 :)

My first experience was GT2. I was 6 at the time and raced High Speed Ring in a Nissan Skyline GT-R. I pretty much didn't know how the GT Mode Disc worked, so I just stuck with the Red Arcade Disc. I then picked up GT4 on launch day, it was then GT Mode began to make sense to me. I played this till 2007, when I got my hands on an import copy of GT5:P. I found it to be heaps better than GT4, and placed a pre order for GT5 in 2008. I got PSN sometime that year too, so I got a chance to experience GT5:P Spec III. I will always have the memory of trying to beat S-10. In 2009, I got myself a PSP with GTPSP. I think it was a let-down really. A lack of GT Mode was its big failing. On November 2010, I was in the Midnight launch outside my local GAME, waiting to be one of the first to have GT5. I love GT5 to this very day. The WRS and other racing leagues really keep me on GT5.

I think I was 8 or 9 when GT1 came out. I've played it at a neighbour and sucked at it, because I was used to play NFS and Test Drive where it was much easier to drive. For that I hated Gran Turismo the first couple of weeks, but kept playing because of it's difficulty. Got the hang of it and never stopped playing the series. GT3 was kind of a new expiernce to me too, I remember that I was blown away by the graphics. I got it as a early birthday gift and to this day it's still one of the best birthday gift I've ever had.

First acquintance was seing someone playing GT2 in a game store and thinking it was very realistic.

First time I tried a GT was with GT 4 Prologue in a friend's house. I remember being impressed by the graphics but finding the cars too heavy and not being able to control them at all.

After borrowing GT4 I was really impressed by its quantity and quality also getting the hang of the controls through licence tests, and immediatelly bought it. First car in carreer mode was Evo GSR '92. It turned out it was among the best for the money!

My first Gran Turismo experience was when i was 4 years old.
First time i tried it was with a peugeot 206, an orange one, on trail mountain with a Logitech driving force steering wheel.
At that age i sucked at Gran Turismo so my father did most of the races on GT mode.

1st time: Playing 2-player against a distant relative back in '99. He chose an Integra Type-R and I, a FTO (if I remember both right).
A simple race on High-Speed Ring resulted that I lost (very) badly. :dopey:

1st proper time: Got it and an old PS1 memory card dirt cheap with my 1st PS2 back in early '02. (Only got GT3 at the end of the year.)

First thing I did in GT1 was to buy an ancient 'Super Black' Silvia K's with the CA18DET.
I loved the ability to test it's straight line speed and how it sounded meaner with every engine upgrade.

Initially, I ignored the licenses and grinded the beginner championship many times, keeping 1 of the Demios and selling the rest, and used the money to try out many cars before settling on a new STi coupe due to my then lack of patience with the throttle. (Powerful FRs became donut factories. :sly: )

(Yes, I eventually played it properly. And nope, I cannot remember for my life where I ended up in percentage and now cannot even find the disc or the mem card. :dunce: )

I bought the premium S13 in the same colour in GT5 and went on the 'HD-ised' High-Speed Ring and it felt so brilliant.
(All it needs now is that Chem Bro's remix of 'Everything Must Go'. :D)

I must have been about 10 years old and it my first experience was with the first Gran Turismo game. I can't recall exactly what I did the first time I played it but the first things that come to my mind are the Honda NSX and High Speed Ring.

My dad got GT2 for Christmas when I was 6 or something. I always played it on my own memory card and since I was six obviously had no idea what I was doing.

My first experience is GT2, and that was my first Playstation game. I still remember how fun that I race against with my brother. I miss that time so much.

My first memory is of the PS1. My best friend picked on up, and it came with the demo for GT1. We were goofying off with some demos, when he hands me the disc and says "this should be right up your alley."

My name is McClarenDesign.... and I'm and addict....

I remember glancing over the demo of GT2, well before any interest in Motorsport, only ever put in a few laps round SSR5, all got more interesting late in to GT4's life :)

The Sample Disc Vol. 8. A.K.A. The one that came with my dads PS1. I remember I kept grinding the GT demo, because it was hard for me (I was like 5 then). My first victory was achieved with a black Honda NSX.

My grandfather randomly got me GT2 when he gave me a PSX as a present, I was very young at the time I didn't understand a thing, but it was fun. Then when I bought a ps2 it came with a japanese version of GT3, it was a nightmare lol, not the best japanese expert here, but I found my way through the arcade mode. GT4, saw my cousins playing it so I decided I'd go for it too, got addicted. For GT5, I got a ps3 dec. 2010 so I could join the party, the series will always give me that special feeling, with it's classical music and casual style.

GT3, and I didn't really pay much attention to upgrades or tuning - took me ages to win one race in new VW Beetle on the Test Track - 10 laps I think - and I needed to time it right so that I was in slipstream of 1st place guy midway on the last bend so that I could nail it to the finish line! It took a few attempts. In hindsight I would have stuck on some slicks and added a turbo or 2!!!! Happy days!!!

1st time for me was playing split screen 2player at High Speed Ring on GT1. I seem to remember forgetting to break a lot & crashing into the the side of the tunnel. Obviously I lot a lot to my chuckling mate.
Next day I bought the the game, rushed home & quickly realised that to get into it properly I'd have to pass a load of licences.
After that I was addicted, tried a few other driving games, but nothing drew me back like GT

Meh. Got the name close enough, my memory doesn't remember much about '05 other than GT4, 7/7 & Alonso.

If you could send it, I would be very grateful. I've never seen the real point of 0/0/0 but oh well. Couldn't blame you with the roof though, find it fascinating to this day

I got a brand new ps2 and then brought a second hand gt3, not knowing what an amazing game + community I was buying into :)

I read a review of GT1 in a magazine and decided to try it out. Got hooked on the driving physics and and the catalog of cars. My best memories was the 2 player battle with my flatmate. Most of the time on GVS and Autumring with the Subaru WRX and the Viper. Good times :)
