Hi,

Well, since the current seasonal event involves pickups, I figure now is a good a time as any to find out what the weapon of choice among GTP'rs is. So, which brand are YOU attracted to???

Speaking for myself, I choose the Dodge Ram - could there really be any other choice?:sly: I love the brawny looks, the HEMI, and my jet black paint job! Plus when in the bumper cam, you absolutely tower over everything else... and have no problem moving others out of the way! Hooray for POWAH!!!👍 Everything else is just a toy...

Feel free to vote and discuss!

I like the Lightning; haven't picked up a RAM yet but I've been playing with the Tacoma a bit and it's okay... But just okay. It doesn't make a particularly good noise (sounds like a tractor, much like most V6s), the tail gets floaty to a much worse degree than the Lightning, etc etc.

The Tacoma is the best balanced... as it was in GT5. But amongst trucks, sportscar-like handling isn't a huge priority... I've loved the RAM since GT4... but I'm absolutely nuts over the Midget II.

The toyota seems to drive the best, though it feels less truck then the others.
The Ram is fun.

The F150 is excellent fast too. Im a ford man myself, I drive the new F150 and despite the GT5 F150 being the ugliest truck of all time, its a good drive.

The Chevy is junk IMHO. Despite its huge power, it just drives like crap, all the time.

Daihatsu Midget

The typical underdog of trucks. It's just so agile and quick on the corners, traits I love in cars. Course, I do get bumped around a lot...

I love the Ram because with its 4x4 system you go off the track it is easy to get back on with, and it has a lot of low end torque.

I despise driving the trucks so I only bothered with the first one I came across in the UCD which was the ford F-150, not a bad truck when tuned but I really believe they dont belong in the game.

Seems like the Tacoma is much better in terms of aerodynamics than the Lightning... Lightning absolutely hits a brick wall after 150-160mph... In GT4 you were better off pushing a TVR around the test course than driving solo.

Lifted redneck RAM. Even looks like it was hit with a sledgehammer if you reverse into stuff.

Grew up around Fords and Hondas. GT5's Lightning is a very capable beast around a track -- even stock.

Dodge Ram. Simple reason is due to the fact that it was great in GT4 and in GT5 you win it (if you want it that is) and you never have to worry about "purchasing" a truck in the UCD.

It's between the Tacoma and the Sliverado for me. The Tacoma is much lighter and it's got about 600hp but the Sliverado has much more power and looks nice for a pickup truck. I would pick the chevy only because it looks nicer than the Tacoma.

The F150 Lightning is my favorite sport truck both in game and IRL. Sure it doesn't out handle the Tacoma or out accelerate the Ram... but it does have good old rear wheel drive, beefy supercharged V8, and it looks hella sexy and pretty easy to drive around the track.

I want one so bad in real life but even the oldies are still so damn expensive for you're getting. :(

I don't believe in brand loyalty. Brand loyalty is for suckers. So, my favorite sport truck in the game is whichever is the best (as in easiest to win with). That happens to be the Tacoma X-Runner. I'm surprised there were much of any other votes. Must be that brand loyalty (read blind faith) at work.

Way I figure is they included hundreds of non-race cars that are daily drivers in Japan. They serve no purpose aside from giving the people playing the game the ability to drive their own crappy cars.
I dont know what its like in the rest of the world, but in my neighborhood in Canada, there is a pickup in every second driveway. Pickups in the US are selling at an almost 2:1 rate to cars in some cases.
If you wanted to reach out to an absolutely massive market, including trucks is a no-brainer.

Well basically I don't consider pickups any viable sort of motoring. They handle worse than the Exxon Valdez and most of the world gave up on live rear axles when the ox-cart went out of style. But if anything the Toyota X-Runner is sort of bearable.

Well the Midget is just a bad joke...

Dodge RAM, love the power mine is spitting out in relation to its lack of grip on sports tyres. Understeers like a... well, a truck. And a heavy truck at that. So a boot of power and a dab of the handbrake to get it through the turns, bootiful!

I have the chance to have a friend who bought all these trucks and share them, so I tried all of them on the nurb. The best one for my driving style is the Chevy SSR, it handles almost like a sport car.

the best handling ones are the taco and ssr in that order and are the two i use the most. i use the f150 on tracks that don't have too many high speed sweepers. it rocks drag racing between corners on tsukuba.

so in order, tacoma, ssr, f150, silverado.

This is totally true. Many of the JDM cars are just there to fill the racing field with variety. Try to drive them online and they are slow as ****. I ran a 450pp 80's night last night in an attempt to try some of them...but even with matched performance points they couldn't keep up with the likes of an '86 RUF or an '88 Countach. It comes down to tires really...the one thing you have no control over. A sports car on X tire has more grip than a street car on X tire plain and simple. It ruins the fun of picking "your own crappy car" and trying to make it fast.

Now for the trucks, it adds variety. Tonight my same 450pp room is going to be trucks-only and it should be a nice change from watching Elises and NSXs win every race.

Well, I picked Chevy, because for me it's the Chevy SSR...

It's hands-down the best looking truck in the game (in my opinion).
👍

While my second vehicle in real life is a 1990's Jeep Grand Cherokee - because I got it for $600, the SSR is the only truck I would have ever legitimately sought to purchase.
:D

(It's a shame they don't make it any more.)
:indiff: :irked:

Peace...

I went the Ford.

Look at this Youtube video to see why F-Trucks are the toughest.

The silver creek test was very biased.
That being said, I have the 09 F150 and I absolutely love it.
When I was picking my truck, I took all the half-tonne pickups through the motions.
The Chevy had a horrid interior and a crappy ride. Nothing wowed me at all. I drove Chevy's all my life, had the "piss on ford sticker" and all.
The Toyota was twisty, felt soft and loud on the highways. Again, nothing wowed me at all.
The Titan was nice. Drove great but felt outdated inside. I spend so much time in my truck it has to function comfortably as my workplace, family vehicle and office.
The Ram was ok. Lots of power, but so hard on fuel. Suspension was fine at regular, but I had them load the box and it changes everything. Loaded up it just felt soggy. Loud on the highway and that excellent exhaust note, becomes a horrid drone with time. Its fine for my neighbor who carries nothing in the box and just wants to do burnouts, but as a work truck, it doesnt cut it.

The F150 excelled everywhere. As a work truck, it does everything right. IMHO has the looks too. I picked mine and havent had second thoughts. My boss had purchased the 2011 ram and after a week took it back and got himself a F150 FX4.

My father-in-law recently retired from GM. He worked his whole life at the southern ontario GM truck plant. He hates Ford, hates ford with the white hot intensity of a thousand exploding suns. When I got my f150, i took him for a ride...he had to admit that GM is so far behind its embarrassing.

I'm sorry but I hate them all. I would like to have more GT cars races.. SuperGT, LM Race Cars, Tuned Supercars instead of standard trucks from GT4.

1000 cars... but how many events with the right cars?
