My favourite professor suggested to our class the other day that we should all make our own Bucket List probably because he had just seen the movie. He said as Anthropologist and Archaeologist in training this is something we should think about and actually gave us an assignment to come up with at least 10 places to see before you die. I figured everyone has some sort of idea of a few places they want to see, although I'm guessing not all of them are worldly treasures.

In no real order:

1.) Rapa Nui National Park, Easter Island, Chile - This is the island with the giant stone heads carved from rock called Moai on them that no one can really explain and pretty much destroyed the culture that was living there. Ever since I've been a little kid these giant heads have fascinated me.

2.) L'Anse aux Meadows (Jellyfish Cove), Newfoundland, Canada - The site of the earliest known settlement of European settlers in North America.

3.) Lascaux, Dordogne, France - The site of well known cave paintings that are 16,000 years old. As an archaeology student I read about them and see photos of them all the time and it would be awesome to experience it first hand.

4.) Olduvai Gorge, Great Rift Valley, Tanzania - It's known as the "Cradle of Mankind" so I would love to go there to see where, as a human, I came from. Also I might stubble onto a giant, black, monolith.

5.) Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory, Australia - I have always wanted to see a sunset on Uluru (Aryes Rock) since I hear it's pretty amazing by the few family friend who have been there. Plus it is a big ass rock in the middle of the desert, if that doesn't scream an awesome time I do not know what does.

6.) Galapagos National Park, Galápagos Islands, Ecuador - This is another place I have dreamed of going since I've been a little kid, it's so remote and there are so many interesting wildlife species on it.

7.) Stanley, Falkland Islands, United Kingdom - I've always wanted to visit one of those island chains off the southern coast of South America and since the Falkland's are rich in military history and they are supposed to have some amazing golf courses count me in.

8.) Þingvellir National Park, Reykjanesskagi, Iceland - I think probably the number one place that I have to see before I kick it is Iceland. The more I think about the more I regret not going there when I was in Europe this past summer. Someday. I'm trying to convince Kate if we get married that would make an awesome honeymoon. Þingvellir sticks out to me because of the geological history but it is also the site of the oldest parliamentary government in the world, the Althing.

9.) Prague, Czech Republic - Everything I have ever seen or read about this city makes me want to go there: the castle, the Astronomical Clock, and the tower with the babies on it.

10.) Dubai City, UAE - It's the pinnacle of excess in modern human civilisation and it would be an awesome place to go to see how the truly rich live their lives.

My list would consist of nothing. I could have gone my whole life living in my rinky dink town of Cleveland and the surrounding areas and it wouldn't have bothered me. My mom and step dad think I'm weird because they always want to go on trips to go see stuff like light houses and I always say no. They always tell me I'll have a different view when I get older, but I don't know about that.

Now a list of things I'd want to do before I died would be a different story.

1. St. Petersburg, Russia-But I have heard they are about in the 1950's racial relations wise...But It looks quite beautiful in the pix.
2. Niagra Falls
3. Laguna Seca, Just to rectify the fact that I lived 20 minutes from the place but never went.
4. The Indy Racing Museum.
5. The C.F. Martin Guitar Factory
6. Nashville, TN--Specifically Gruhn's Guitar store.
7. Santa Cruz, CA--Specifically to sit down with H. G. Leach to talk about a custom, handmade acoustic guitar.
8. Zuffenhausen, Germany-(duh1) Porsche Factory.
9. Switzerland-with about 150 grand in my pocket, and a list of fine watchmakers to visit. Patek, Vacheron, IWC, etc. (and no duty to pay on the way out)

I've seen most of the "exotic" places I wanted to while in the Navy.
Hell, I've seen a lot of "exotic" places I had no desire to as well.
My 20th birthday, and the week before were spent on the French Riviera, on "Uncle's" nickel.
I could consider going back with money, and truly enjoying some of the places I've already been.

Anything Outside Of Billings, Roundup, And Helena Montana.
I Don't care Where I go, But I've Somehow Met And/Or Know Everyone In These Three Cities. However No Matter What, Denver Is The First Place I Will Go, And Who Knows, I Just Might End Up Living There, Or I Might Continue Down To Houston, Seeing As I Know Almost Everyone In A CS:Source Clan From There, Alongside Of Mapping Out Some Custom Maps For Them, They Say It's A Bad Ass Place To Be.

Traveling Abroad Is Too Much For Me, Yeah There Is A Lot Of Cool Places To Go, But None Really Appeal To Me, (Big, Huge) Cities Are Where I Belong, Not Out In A Desolate Jungle, Or Secluded Mountain Escape.

10.) Dubai City, UAE - It's the pinnacle of excess in modern human civilisation and it would be an awesome place to go to see how the truly rich live their lives.

Like most countries in the middle east there are two classes. Upper class and lower class, they don't tend to have a middle class and if they do it's often very small. Rest assured you won't see the poor people, because the rich make sure you won't.

Galapagos
Gibraltar

It's neat to see how many places I've been to that other people want to visit before I die.

I've been pretty fortunate to see these places, so I think I'm covered for a while. I'd like to visit the Nurburgring and maybe something tropical. I've gone to Vietnam for 3 weeks, so I've seen some pretty spectacular things there (Ha Long Bay) but never been to the typical postcard blue waters and white beaches of Central American islands. Easter Island also intrigues me as I've written a pretty big research paper on a while ago.

You don't want to see Detroit, unless you have a thing for slum like cities being run by lying and corrupt mayors. I live 30 miles from the city I avoid it like the plague. I honestly can not think of many redeeming factors about the city.

Well, there's:

Japan
Smithsonian National Museum (I think)
Downsview AFB (already have)
The top step of a Formula 1 podium
Falkland Islands
Sweden (already have)
Finland (already have)
Bowling Green, Kentucky (the first Corvettes were made there)
The Ocho/Nono

Well, there's:
Bowling Green, Kentucky (the first Corvettes were made there)

They still are made there, although it's not really as cool as I had hoped when I ventured there, although maybe it is better now. I've been to every state east of the Mississippi and I still think the coolest place I have been is Maine.

I was discussing this topic with Kate and my best friend Jimmy today and it got me thinking.

11.) Tasmania - This has been a place of interest to me since you never hear about it and while I have met quite a few Australians and New Zealanders, I have never once met someone from Tasmania. I think it would be a pretty neat place to visit.

12.) Machu Picchu, Peru - One of the new seven wonders of the world. It's basically a "lost" city atop a very high peak that once was inhabited by the Inca. My professor has talked about taking a group of students there next year and I'm hoping I will have the money to do so.

13.) Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor, Shaanxi, China - Even though the mausoleum has never been opened and probably won't be anytime soon I would love to see the Terracotta Army near it. I regret not going to China back in May of 07 when I had the chance to, but sometimes things get in the way.

Places in the US:

Leguna Seca
San Antonio,TX- I've only been to TX once but I've never been to SA.
Las Vegas ,NV-just cause...
Indianapolis,IN

Places outside of the U.S-
Nurburgring- The best Racetrack in the world IMO
Bamburg, Germany- My birthplace
Japan- The counterculture and any hardcore import fan's dream
The Galpagos Islands

1. Nurburgring Nordschleife
- The mecca for all motorsport fans? I will be there one day, hopefully with a car and some Euros.

2. Tokyo, Japan
- Looks like a extremely fun place to visit.

3. Daytona Motorspeedway
- Again the motorsport fan in me calls the shots here.

4. Aspen, Colorado
- Want to have a holiday there one day, looks extremely laid back.

5. Sydney, Australia
- Read Aspen, Colorado

6. Hawaii
- Me and Laura keep telling ourselves whenever we get married, it'll be there.

7. Kyoto, Japan
- One of the very few cities to still have pre-WW2 buildings in Japan.

8. Montreal, Canada
- Especially during the Canadian Grand Prix, my favourite race of the season.

9. St. Petersburg, Russia
- The buildings seem pretty unique from pictures I've seen.

10. The Great Wall of China
- It seems pretty incredible, was torn between this and the Great Pyramids.

1. Monaco - twice; once on a GP weekend, once not. Ever since I first saw a Grand Prix there I've wanted to go see it.

2. The Nurburgring - do I have to explain? Stop off at Spa Francorchamps on the way.

3. The USA - a 6-12 month roadtrip and do the whole lot - see NY, SF, the Indy 500, the Daytona 500, a NASCAR race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Route 66, and anything else that comes to mind; also to find out first-hand how many of the sterotypes are true.

4. Monza, Italy - definately for the F1 race. I'd see Rome, Modena and Sant Agata too whilst I'm down there.

5. Sydney, Australia - but not specifically for the touristy bits - I have quite a few relatives who live in and around Sydney.

6. That really long tunnel in Norway - in a loud car. No reason, it just seems fun.

7. The Alps - mmm. Driving roads.

8. North Wales - see 7.

I'll edit if I think of any more.

1. Nurburgring Nordschleife, as Bee said, motorsport mecca.
2. Florida, namely international drive, Orlando, Universal, Disney World etc.
3. Monte Carlo, beautiful place, wouldnt mind going for the F1 or WRC either.
4. Scottish Highlands, a place I have always wanted to go and see, all the lochs and stuff.
5. Iceland, purely because of Famine's holiday review.
6. Canada, the country as a whole looks beautiful.
7. Stelvio Pass, like the nurburgring, just less motorsport biased.
8. Blackpool/Pleasure Beach, particularly when the Blackpool lights are on.
9. Tokyo, amazing looking city.
10. Australia, somewhere in the south, perhaps Sydney.

1. Maine, I don't know why.
2. Mississauga, I am sick of Autumn here, winter like never existed this year.
3. Australia, so I can strangle Leon.
4. Westchester, which is basically walking distance from my old house, but I might get lost...
5. Guelph, Ontario, this place looks awesome in pics, things always look better in person.

That'd be an awesome summer trip! Fly into Portland, drive up to Seattle, fly to Fairbanks, fly to Whitehorse, drive down to Vancouver (2 day trip), then fly home. I think you have to do it :).

I haven't thought too hard about this, but here are a few places I'd like to visit (many center around racing :)):

-Maui, Oahu, and Kauai (Maui gets crossed off the list in April :D).
-Alaska, at both solstices.
-Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
-Belgian Grand Prix at Spa.
-Ring Taxi lap of the Nordschleife.
-24 Hours of Le Mans.
-Daytona 500.
-Greece.
-The Riviera.
-Set foot in all 50 states (just 31 more to go :dopey:).

1. Yellowstone National Park-Awesome scenery and it would be a sweet place to go and hike.

2. Tierra del Fuego- The land of fire down in Argentina, really beautiful landscape, you know what, i would just like to Argentina in general not just tierra del fuego.

3. El Capitan- My favorite GT4 track, and i never went rock climbing and i think that it would be a great place to try it out.

4. Australia- One place that i will definately go before i kick the bucket, i will keep you guys filled in on that one.

Places I wish to visit before I die:

(1) Space, another planet
Its so unlikely that I get there in my life that such wishes are just dumb, I just listed it because its my real honest #1.

2. Nepal, nepals great plains

3. Spitsbergen generally

4. Yukon - Emerald Lake, Yukon generally, northern lights

5. Yellowstone national park, El Capitan

6. Iceland, generally

7. Rocky Mountains generally

8. Canada, Moraine Lake lodge

9 .Nürburgring Nordschleife, in a lightweight car with at least 200 bhp.

10. Tahiti generally

I haven't been many places in my life, mostly the US East of the Mississippi and once in Pacific Mexico... But, my list (so far)

London, England
- I've got a bit of a love affair with our Anglo friends, and to be honest, I'm jealous. The city is so beautiful, so full of culture and history, I just can't ignore it. If I can only go to Europe once, I must go to London!

Paris, France
- Okay, its a bit boring to make this pick, but I'd love to take my lady to Paris and do it right.

LeMans
- The good news is that I can start in Paris and go to LeMans. Someone has to root for Team Corvette!

Wolfsburg, Germany & Der Autostadt
- Its the home to my beloved Volkswagen, so there is much to see and do. Even cooler would be to do a factory tour and see your Golf get screwed together and take it for a spin, but I don't think VW does it like BMW or Porsche...

The IJssel river area, Netherlands and Germany
- My family originated in the area, would be neat to see the "home turf"

Moscow, Russia
- Damn Reds... As an American, yeah, would be cool to visit

California
- Have to go at least once. Planning on a trip to San Diego or San Francisco within the next year or so, we'll see how it goes...

Hmmm. I guess my list is pretty boring?

Australia
Brazil
Galápagos Islands
Germany
Hong Kong
Madagascar
Monaco
New Zealand
Tokyo
UK

I also need to see more of the US. I’ve only been in the southwest and northeast, and both times when I was too young to appreciate anything.

5. Guelph, Ontario, this place looks awesome in pics, things always look better in person.

Are you serious? You have to be kidding me. No way.

Why?!

That'd be an awesome summer trip! Fly into Portland, drive up to Seattle, fly to Fairbanks, fly to Whitehorse, drive down to Vancouver (2 day trip), then fly home. I think you have to do it :).

See my hitch-hiking thread in the Questions forum. ;)

Michigan is nice, just avoid Joey's side of the state...

Only during the summer. :p I’m uncomfortably cold right now, and it’s 53°.

If you visit SD, hit me up. Seems like all the GTP members who come to Cali go to San Fran, maybe because they’re trying to avoid me.

5. Yellowstone national park, El Capitan

For the record, El Capitan is in Yosemite National Park, in California.

And Sage, that is because everything in San Diego already has a better version in San Francisco. :p

That is, unless you really like Shamu.

My list:

New Zealand
Italy
Great Britain
Siberia
Mecca
Syria
Cairo
Monaco
Tokyo
Greece
Dubai

This is true. Unless you're driving a car destined for the demolition derby, avoid Seattle's Chinatown at all costs.
