GT by Citroen Race Car. I love the car itself, I just can't stand the cockpit.

Bill France Sr. His son catapulted the sport into what it is today. I have tons of respect for both. And, apparently, one of the few around here that does.

👍 The first time I saw that cockpit I thought I was Luke Skywalker trying to blow up a Death Star!

Here's the thing, NASCAR haters: the cars are not tuned to the limit, nor are they meant to be. They are not representative of the greatest tech. Think of it as being similar to touring car racing but with bigger cars and motors. The sport grew out of guys running contraband alcohol in the backwoods and foothills almost 100 years ago-what the hell do you expect :) .

The reason that NASCAR is popular is because A) When you race ovals, the fans can see the action around most/all of the track as opposed to only when they drive in front of you. Going to a non-oval race can be very boring (I live near Elkhart Lake, WI). NASCAR may not be the fastest, most innovative motorsport, but at any given time there are several attempts at 'overtaking' going on. Think 10 or more at any one time and most of the time a fan in the stands can see all of it at once.

It seems that many people in here hate the cars that they either didn't or can't tune to their liking. I guess that's fine as an opinion, but if you work on the setups you might find that the car is not and never was the problem.

I hate the Spec-V GTR because it's too common, over-emphasized and reverently worshipped when it's no better than the direct competition from the Gallardos and R8's of the world.

I hate the FGT because it was impossible to find, and even after I got it with the patch the race time/reward ratio was FUBAR especially since I had a Caterham for weeks prior to getting my 2nd one.

I hate the Elise and NASCARs because of their special events-trauma throughout the experience, but finally have all golds in the events now. Also, despite me being a NASCAR apologist they don't belong here. The fan reaction makes that evident, but it really is a round peg-square hole situation. There are two NASCAR tracks and neither represents typical NASCAR racing. Not to mention it comes across as a pure bolt-on designed to get some extra cash from American rednecks who don't have a NASCAR game on PS3 they love.

^ the GTR spec v has some nasty understeer and a fat backside personally i don't think it looks as nice as some of its rivals either

I hate it when people say the standard cars look like GT4 graphics, go back and play GT4 they are much nicer looking unless your playing on a 13inch TV

Moonshine running is the root of NASCAR, true, but not 100 years ago....prohibition was in the 30s I think, and cars become really wide spread after WWII. Southern state abolished their prohibition law later(some towns are still "dry" today), which is why it originated from the south...

I would have to say trying to brake with the Lambo's annoys me quite a bit. The only way to use them is to jack up the ABS level. Anything related to NASCAR too.

NASCAR is simplistic garbage that has lowered the bar for all American motorsports. It sucks up ad revenue and sponsorships that could go to actual racing. It dominates what little racing media we have. Hour after hour of rednecks talking about turning left. It's the fast food of the race world. Just becuase it's popular doesn't make it good.

That was brilliant. Got any other tidbits you'd like to share with the world to show how clueless you are?

My Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
It's so annoying because I want to race it but it makes a great drift car >:x
Also it sets the tracks on fire (so much smoke).

The Murcielago Chrome is a handful under breaking and the Countach too, both cars really get on my nerves. The Gallardo is great though, I don't get it, must just be better balanced or something.

my thought is all these cars are great cars... the problem isn't necessarily the car... its the driver... that being said some of those cars are really hard to drive fast but if you figure it out they are nuts... i try to think of some of these cars as supercars... they have super brakes super suspension super handling super power... thus are also super touchy... drive them carefully and they can be super rewarding... as for muscle cars... they are called muscle cars for a reason... you have to muscle them do make them do what you want them to... and that might even be what makes them fun

Am inclined as an American to agree, although driving door-to-door at 200 mph is a different kind of challenge. Tech-wise cars on offer in America in general, not just NASCARs, are light-years behind their Euro counterparts. Even the manufacturers that sell on both continents seem to dumb down their product for the US market.

Personally, I hate NASCAR.. Its a horrible, boring form of motor sport. That doesn't give me the right to make racist remarks about Americans though.. As far as I am concerned, people can enjoy what they want. If someone likes NASCAR, I think they deserve to get as much satisfaction out of it as I would watching F1. I certainly can't see the point arguing about it.

All forms of professional motorsport require a huge amount of skill and concentration. Even club events on the weekend can be taxing, sometimes.. People who have never raced in real life have no right to comment on the amount of skill required for NASCAR. GT5 is a good game, but, trust me, it is nothing like real racing. Its not as exciting and certainly not as harsh.. When I used to race Porsche, obviously we had no aircon... That mean racing 4-6 hours in a cabin that was about 50 degrees celsius in a fireproof suit and helmet... You had a small tube coming into the helmet that gave you a little bit of cool air, as well as a small tube into your mouth for water... It helped a little bit. But a full length race is very very taxing. But, it's part of what makes the sport great IMO :)

Anyway, people just need to chll and appreciate other peoples interests I think.

My least favourite car in GT5 are actually NASCARs, lol, Like steering a boat lol. I really hate Supras too... Mostly because they remind me of the people that drive them on the street in real life, lol.

I'm a bit surprised how many actually dislike the nascars in the game. I think the cars handle pretty good, are fun and challenging to drive. Imho great cars to have in gt5 even if the oval side of things is not there to support the cars properly.

TOYOTA PRIUS.

I've just done the seasonal event. What a totally uninspiring, overated piece of junk and poor excuse for a car.

I'm glad I didn't sell the one I won as prize car (i've never sold any cars in any GT).

Funnily enough the guy I drive to work with were discussing what cars we would buy in real life if we had unlimited money, one of my choices was a Prius and to then squeeze in the biggest big block chev that I could, just to annoy the greenies.

Now even if I had all the money in the world I don't think i'd bother.

Well, what were you expecting? This car isn't made to have fun driving, it's made to save the planet.

If you don't dispose the batteries correctly, the Prius will probably kill the planet worse than any gas-guzzling emission lover.

It is the worst car in the game in terms of how it makes you feel. I would rather play "Gran Turismo" than "Green Turismo", if that's ok.

Save the planet?

Sorry mate but building a car that's shipped around the world a couple of times is hardly going to help is it.

Besides we're talking about a game here.

Nowhere did I say that they succeeded saving the planet. I merely said the car is built to be environment-friendly and not to have fun driving.

I can deduct from you being slightly offended that you're not a fan of green cars :)

Green cars, I really don't have a problem with, just so happens there isn't one that excites me and is practible at this moment in time. All my opinion of course.:sly:

Personally I think hydrogen is a better way to go, sadly that would include massive infrastructure costs to get under way. Having said that governments are good at talking up the good of the planet but when it comes to spending big money, that's another story.

I hope I didn't offend you, none was intended nor taken. 👍

The Nissan GTR Blackmask. I paid Cr250,000 because it looked really cool in the dealership and the name sounds cool too. However when I tried it in photo mode it appears that the black mask is not paint, but a canvas cover like they put on new models when they road test them in secret and so any photos of this car look rubbish.

Am I correct in saying this or do my eyes deceive me ?

You are correct. The black mask is a vinil mask, not a paint.

One vote for the Prius! I love most other cars in the game.
Also, a few of the standard cars are dreadfully looking, I hate them for that, mostly undesrvedly.

Heads up on the Lancia STRATOS Rally Car '77. I saw it used and it's almost 5 mill. I thought: Didn't I win that car in the Special Event Rally win-a-rally-car ticket? Must be good! So I drove it to find out. It's a crazy car like the Ginetta G4. Drives like no real car possibly could. It has so much oversteer that the back end sucks out on every turn, even with racing soft tires. I'd hate to see someone pay 5 mill for it.

Jay Leno tank car...A completely worthless oddity

The car costs about $4 million USED -- So far I've won TWO as prizes and they have NO resale value?!?:banghead: How is that even possible??🤬

PD needs to make sure every car has some sort of resale, especially since they decided to put such arbitrarily high prices on so many of them...👎

I can beat that , I won it THREE times (Once though the American Championship and twice though car tickets.)🤬 :banghead:

Oullim Motors - Spirra without a doubt... this is the only car I've ever come across that turns opposite to steering input and corners better in reverse.

And the Renault 5 Turbo which loves to rally even on racing softs at 25MPH..fun though.

Dude, you would floor it and the car would cave in like an empty coke can.

i just spent 4 million sguid on an audi R8 race car'01 and i just dont like the handling, seems very skittish, kinda reminds me of driving the toyota gt one from gt 3 but i liked that car (the one that looked like there was an alien on the back of it)
