GT by Citroen Race Car. I love the car itself, I just can't stand the cockpit.
Bill France Sr. His son catapulted the sport into what it is today. I have tons of respect for both. And, apparently, one of the few around here that does.
👍 The first time I saw that cockpit I thought I was Luke Skywalker trying to blow up a Death Star!
Here's the thing, NASCAR haters: the cars are not tuned to the limit, nor are they meant to be. They are not representative of the greatest tech. Think of it as being similar to touring car racing but with bigger cars and motors. The sport grew out of guys running contraband alcohol in the backwoods and foothills almost 100 years ago-what the hell do you expect
The reason that NASCAR is popular is because A) When you race ovals, the fans can see the action around most/all of the track as opposed to only when they drive in front of you. Going to a non-oval race can be very boring (I live near Elkhart Lake, WI). NASCAR may not be the fastest, most innovative motorsport, but at any given time there are several attempts at 'overtaking' going on. Think 10 or more at any one time and most of the time a fan in the stands can see all of it at once.
It seems that many people in here hate the cars that they either didn't or can't tune to their liking. I guess that's fine as an opinion, but if you work on the setups you might find that the car is not and never was the problem.
I hate the Spec-V GTR because it's too common, over-emphasized and reverently worshipped when it's no better than the direct competition from the Gallardos and R8's of the world.
I hate the FGT because it was impossible to find, and even after I got it with the patch the race time/reward ratio was FUBAR especially since I had a Caterham for weeks prior to getting my 2nd one.
I hate the Elise and NASCARs because of their special events-trauma throughout the experience, but finally have all golds in the events now. Also, despite me being a NASCAR apologist they don't belong here. The fan reaction makes that evident, but it really is a round peg-square hole situation. There are two NASCAR tracks and neither represents typical NASCAR racing. Not to mention it comes across as a pure bolt-on designed to get some extra cash from American rednecks who don't have a NASCAR game on PS3 they love.
