Your thoughts on a new... more secure way of submitting times.

With everything thats happened in the past couple of days... i think its time that we start thinking about a real way to submit our times WITHOUT changing the "unwritten" rules that we all have come to accept. Now here is my idea... instead of submitting 1 picture... your submitting 6. Yes... i know... thats a lot... but its really the only way that we can keep people honest and weed out the... i dont want to say fluke... but obviously skewed times.

Basically what i am proposing is this... You take 6 pictures of your best 3 runs in a 5 minute (or so) span ...
You would submit 3 photos like this... WITH YOUR CURRENT TIME CLEARLY VIABLE AND READABLE. (upper right hand corner)

And 3 like this

The first 3 pictures...WHERE THE TIME MUST BE CLEARLY VIABLE TO BE VALID... will serve as your timer and as a system of checks and balances... if the times on the second set of pictures isent consistent with the first 3... theres trickery a foot.

Once all 6 pictures have been checked and everything meets the criteria needed to be considered a valid entry... the 3 runs are averaged together... and that would be the time that is placed on the leader board.

It rewards consistency... but also rewards the fastest time. Its a win/win.. we keep the rules that we have all become accustom to... and we get have a leader board we can actually believe. It may take longer... but so does going to the airport after 911. If you want security... you have to be willing to put in a little extra effort.

What do you guys think? We have to find a way to keep things the way that 95% of us know to be true... otherwise im afraid a large portion of this community will quit this game for good. (like myself)... So please... lets put our heads together... put our egos aside... and find a solution to a greater problem.

If it has to be done Ill just take a video but I honestly dont think Ill be submitting many times. Im just going to work on my own 1/4 mile time list for now. Those guys have completely ruined the 1/4 mile community. They should have said "Hey, check it out I got a good time with low Gs using SRF. We need to fix it" instead of claiming over and over and over and over and over how the time was real and legit. That is the part that has got the long time tuners of the 1/4 mile drag pissed and wanting to just hang it up.

I preformed a trail run last night... im having a heck of a time getting my pic's into a form that can be copied and pasted onto this site.. but the actual process didnt take any longer than the runs that you were making. If we keep it in the 5 minute range... you will pretty much have to use a full throttle launch to get your pictures taken in the allotted time. Thus equaling out the playing field for all.

Its cool if you guys dont like the idea... but if the only reason that you dont like it is because "its just too much work".... than its time you hang up your controller for good. Nothing about drag tuning was easy to figure out... but we all stuck with it did we not? So what makes now any different? Go ahead guys... roll over and play dead. Let the noobs come in with their srf and traction control run 1/2 a car behind you because its 100 times easier to make a tune thats competitive with yours... and let them start talking because they are the fastest guy in gtp and you just barely beat them... and see if you really want to drag race again.

Listen guys... this dosent even pertain to me directly... i dont even submit my times... but im trying to make a more secure way for those who want to to... and those who want to have a leader board you could actually believe and see where you stack up? If im giving this much of an effort... just to help out you guys figure something out...and i honestly dont care about times... yall can at least give more than "its to much work"

For most of the casual submitters here, it's hard enough to get just one picture showing all of the information needed, let alone 6. I don't see this working out anytime soon. We'll just all have to race online to see who is better.

The you divide by 3 (for the number of runs) and my average time is 9.734667... and thats the time that would go onto the leader board.

The pic's that will serve as your timer dont have to be completely readable (mine arnt)... we just have to be able to see that your still in the same car that you were testing and that your g's are consistent. Other than that... they are just their for time.

The time limit would prevent someone who spend all day.. retrying over and over again to get one stupid fast time. And even if you did... and then decided to get your other pictures... either you would have to full throttle launch to make up time to stay within the limit... and the law of averages would come into effect.... or you would keep trying for the once-every-so-often runs and run out of time. It would make things more competitive.

My camera on my phone is garbage and i couldnt get the whole screen and have it readable... and it was 4am... but thats pretty much what your submission would look like. If taking pictures is to hard for you... well.. dont submit your times then. Im not worried about the "casual submitter" here.. because hes (probably) not going to be fighting for the top spots anyway...

Listen.. if you want to be on the leader board... and you have already submitted photos before... that submitting a few more shouldnt be that much big of a deal. For the security it would provide and the bs it would weed out... i think the ends justify the means.

I only take part in the little speed test comps people run so I wouldn't like them to be full of suspicion and accusations... or disappear altogether. When I lucked into a 1st place I either posted the tune or offered to pm it to the participants, but I'm guessing this wouldn't go down well with everyone?
