My friends and I are trying to deal with it by starting a GT1, GT3, GT4 and LMP race league/club. We would like to create replica cars (as close hp/torque/weight as possible) in the game that run in those classes.

I was hoping that might be a way around the PP issues. I am pissed that PD has not included the very cars that the game is named after. But when served lemons, make some lemonade. I have already created a DBRS9 Ford GT and Audi R8 from new stock cars. There are also some standard cars that appear to belong in the FIA GT.

The hard thing is to replicate the hp weight and torque. Has anyone attempted to do this? Is it impossible and not worth trying? Any constructive ideas out there?
I think there is a reference to this on playstation.com.

I tried. I gave up after a couple months though. I hope you're more patient.

As for PP, I've never used it. Since I bought the game brand new it wasn't there and I got used to making lobbies with HP/weight, drivetrain, and tire restrictions. I remember an instance where I beat an Astra TC with at at most 350hp and at least 1200kg with a 250hp 700kg Garaiya in a race with SS tires around Suzuka. It was a small margin too. I didn't need PP then, I don't need it now, and I don't see myself needing it in GT6. Its just too much work that should go elsewhere.

The PP system is an extremely important concept in the game.

For the purpose of making racing close between a wide range of different cars, simple power and weight limits do not suffice. You need to account for natural grip, aerodynamics, engine torque, vehicle type, and other things. The simplest way to do this is assign every car a figure, but this requires a complex formula.

The system was never perfect, but I'd say before the update, the PP system was about 90% perfect. Pretty good in fairness, considering the amount of data and number of cars involved.

What PD did with 2.10 is take the fine Swiss wristwatch of the PP system, and try to tweak it with a PZ3 screwdriver.

It is nothing short of a shocking lack of professionalism from PD.

I agree with this a great deal. And I also agree with Chrunch. Why did they do such a massive change when fine tuning is all that was necessary?

Polls are not always indicative of reality. Many of the people voting could be:

1. People who don't race online.
2. People who race online, but their particular vehicle was not effected.
3. People who race online, but their competitors' vehicles were not effected.
4. People who are just being annoying and clicking what will stir up trouble in the topic just to watch it happen.
5. People who love the fact that they can win with cars that are now overpowered.
6. Something else completely.

I haven't spent time racing online yet. I just got started over from scratch after I had to have my system replaced, so I'm trying to regain everything that I had lost. I did not vote for that reason.

I did want to say that as much as it sounds like the update really screwed everything up, remember that this is the Internet and the people might just be pushing buttons (in more way than one). It's probably time to take a deep breath and not let it infuriate you.

Do what you need to, to balance competition in your room, but don't let the atmosphere in here make you blow your top.

The sheer amount of "I don't care" votes is laughable and somewhat confirms my belief system in an albeit limited manner.

Most people don't care.

I have to agree with you on that one. Unless it's about themselves, it's pretty much futile to expect anyone to give a crap about anything. I hate even typing that because it's really pretty sad when you think about it, but I've felt that way for years and it's only seemed to have gotten worse.

I'm sure the "Quit complaining" complainers will jump into this full force soon. Won't that be fun? :dopey:

Have I understood this correctly, you expect people who are unaffected by the changes to ignore the option given them? How should we vote?

I think he's just saying it's amazing that people who are still into the game at this late stage, can be apathetic about a major change to how cars are evaluated in terms of PP, that completely changes the dynamics of open style, run what you brung racing. If it doesn't affect them personally, then they don't care.

The previous system wasn't that great anyway. So we had a broken system and now we have a different broken system. There were only three options in the poll.

1. go back to the broken system
2. keep the current broken system
3. uhhhhh???

I chose uhhhhh???

And I still don't understand how the old system was 'broken'. Just because it wasn't perfect. I remember that as soon as it was introduced, some people on here were bashing it.

The only thing basically wrong with it was/is that you couldn't set a power or weight limit as well as PP.
